SDS Owl Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I would absolutely love a brand new state of the art stadium. 2 4
meadowview owl Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago trying to manoeuvre around the Kop today (and other big games) further reinforces why we need to move on Imho 4

I don't think a lot of fans know that re-development is a thing. It exists and can be done by science and engineering.

The change is driven by the importance to create community partnerships on urban setting. Moving away to isolated, car-dependent stadium model of the past. This is a brilliant piece about renovation and not relocation of football grounds. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/13186685/future-of-football-what-does-the-future-look-like-for-stadium-development#:~:text=A half-time swim could,area%2C benefitting the whole community. this is American, but for me shows the trend. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/227643290_Changing_Intra-Urban_Location_Patterns_of_Major_League_Sports_Facilities I know I’m probably going against the trend but it’s something I feel strong about. 2

Yep there's no community on some brownfield site next to the M1 with the nearest housing area miles away (and probably in Rotherham).
mogbad Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I'd expect any new owner to explore all avenues regarding the stadium. I've been going to Hillsborough for 67 years, I love the place, my dad played for the club, I had relatives who spent most of their working lives at the club. If the new owners think redeveloping the old girl will allow them to progress the club in the manner they want that's great. Unfortunately the stadium has been allowed to stagnate for so long I'm more of the opinion that a new build will be the way a new owner will go. Make no mistake if I'm still capable of going, if/when we play our last game at Hillsborough I'll be in floods of tears and my lad will have to drag me out of the ground. I've got an old Mondeo, I can keep chucking money at it every year to get it through its MOT, eventually the bloke at garage is going to say "Im sorry pal, it's just not worth it". 2
owler66 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago A new stadium would let the next generations of Wednesdayites have their great moments in a new stadium, let's not get in the way for them by us older ones feeling nostalgic for an crumbling stadium way past it's best. 1 2
SiJ Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Too many stuck in the 90s. The idea that you'd turn your nose up at a brand new, purpose built stadium is laughable. 6

They want us to be successful, but they refuse to accept that we are a millions miles off what is required to be so in modern football. Everton, a mainstay in the top flight for decades, just moved into a brand new ground. I'm sure it was a wrench to leave Goodison Park, but the vast, vast majority will have seen the bigger picture. 3

We are surrounded by a main road, houses and a river. Transport links are awful and parking even worse. The match day experience compared to other clubs and sports is as bad as I've experience. Go to a game at Man City or a similar sized European club like Hamburg SV for a game. Thinking even bigger go to an NFL game (Allegiant Stadium / Vegas Raiders was one I went to recently) and it will just blow your socks off. I work in Birmingham and the buzz created by the new complex being built is palpable. Even non fans are excited about the development. Generating money every day of the year is the aim and that's where we should also be shooting towards. Let's just move! Yeah but St Andrews is a sh it hole 1
Tommy Crawshaw Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I can imagine some of our fans at the Olive Grove ground when it was proposed to move to Hillsborough. 'I don't want us to move to Owlerton old chap. It's just a soulless field in the middle of nowhere' 'There's nothing there, where am I going to get my pre match glass of porter with mutton pie' It's to far for a Hansom Cab' It's 3 miles away, that's me done with supporting the Wednesday if we move'. 1 1
