Any owner who wants to fully realise their ambition to make Wednesday a Premier League team has to build a new stadium. I love Hillsborough for various reasons but it’s not good enough for the PL. In fact if we were to have a quick revival and get back up there in say 5 years we are going to struggle with attendances. A PL Wednesday are certainly capable of 40k+ and the owners might be thinking even more in time as youngsters start gravitating away from the swill. I think they will have to spend a lot on Hillsborough to begin with though as it would probably be 2035 earliest before a new stadium might be ready. No wonder potential new owners are already asking questions. Things need to start happening soon. I know there was a rumour that questions were being asked months ago, when the club was still ‘up for sale’ but that might be codswallop.

Redeveloping Hillsborough in the same way that Villa Park and Anfield have been modernised is the way to go.   Grounds like Derby and Coventry are awful.  Like watching football in a retail park.  No thank you.

Whenever I read threads like this, I wonder if those in favour of a move have much experience of sitting in these new stadia?

You are limiting the club with this train of thought really. Spend £50/100m giving the old girl a glow up, and still hit revenues for 23 days a year.

I can only surmise the people that don't want to move are because of selfish reasons. Ie the journey in is 10 minutes on the bus, or they are sentimental fans. No fan wishing the club to progress would want us to stay and throw money at a ground that is literally in a flood zone.

I just cannot understand the argument to stay.

Think bigger.

History and tradition. Oh, yes.

I've supported the club for 48 years.

Fewer than one third of those seasons in the top flight. None in 25 years. None since the real revolution took place.

And in a stadium which lights up a few times in a season, but is more often than not quiet and sullen. A stadium with wretched facilities and minimal revenue generation.

FFS.

The middle paragraph nails exactly what it is.

Likely fans over 55 who like what they’ve always known and have little interest in what Wednesday looks like in 20-30 years time so long as they can walk to the ground via their local pub/chippy.

I have friends who are spurs fans they said at first opposing to the new ground but not now. It’s a multi purpose ground it houses other things than football and makes a lot  of money.

Important to note that Spur's new ground is on THE SAME SITE as the old ground.

People on here talking about MOVING SITES.

As much as I love Hillsborough after 52yrs of watching us play there its time to move to a stadium that will allow us and future generations to enjoy and support the Wednesday for decades to come, its time to take any future investment for a new home with both hands and move away from the ground Hog day approach that we've been in for the last 30 plus yrs,  better transport links, easier parking, ect ect, a better fan exspence inside the stadium, if we want to be a big fish in a big pond we need a bigger and better pond........good luck today lads

Far too simplistic dismissal.

You mean the same as fans wanting a new stadium next to the M1 for access and parking.

We ALL act for selfish reasons.
