Half the reason the National Centre for popular music never took off. People just don't come to Sheffield for a day out, sadly. It didn't help that NCPM was SH*T! 2 2

Birmingham has a population of over 2million people. Sheffield 500k. Birmingham is a hub of business and entertainment and tourists even go there. Birmingham is better connected to most of the UK by rail. Birmingham also has an international airport. I'm not saying anything about Birmingham City FC vs Sheffield Wednesday FC. But the potential in terms of the cities? Birminghams miles and miles ahead. 2 million? It's nearer 1.1. 1 1
owls maniac Posted Thursday at 18:43 Posted Thursday at 18:43 Looks slightly phallic. But fair play, they have definitely hit the jackpot with their owners. We can only hope for the same. 1

WimJunk Posted Thursday at 18:48 Posted Thursday at 18:48 We could have similar, with the right owners It might just take people accepting that they might lose their cramped view behind a post on the Kop, watching another 2-0 defeat. People don't like change, but just imagine what change could bring this club..... 1 1

Birmingham metropolitan area is more commercially successful and has double of 2m metropolitan area population , but there are way more teams competing for that spend in the Birmingham area. If Wednesday and Birmingham were consistently in the Premier League both would fill 60k seat stadiums.... 1 3

Bloxwich Owl Posted Thursday at 18:52 Posted Thursday at 18:52 They’re not just building a new ground but a whole new ‘sports quarter’. Government have apparently committed £2.4 billion to extend the tram lines to service it. 1
