What’s the timescales of the injured players ?

Although that’s part of the reason we are in the current situation , I think we had nearly 40 pro players at one point

A truly awful signing, that has cost us so much and delivered so little, but I suppose at least he has 1 more league goal that Ugbo.

His availability has been very poor, but when he has played for most part he has looked decent.

I must have missed that 1 game he played.

Players are looked after far better than ever before, and that's a good thing surely?

To say they are softer today is a bit of a cop out. It's comparing race horses to cart horses. (Not saying former is better than latter in anyway either!) Modern era players are very finely tuned athletes and as such are very susceptible to the slightest strain, pull, twist or tear. Muscles can go ping at any time. Sports Science is exactly that - a whole new sphere of sport that has helped create super athletes across every sport.

When your entire training regime was a run through Greno woods after a shift at work, then you probably could cope with being hacked down by full bodied tackles each week.

Previous generations of players were my heroes, as the latest are to a new generation of fan. I don't think we have to criticise injured players to win an unnecessary  argument.

Give me Will Vaulks over him any him every day of the week. Playing 57 of the last 62 league games and without who we would not have got promoted.

Nobody disagrees about the first words, and because of that, I think pretty much everyone would take Will Vaulks over him. 

Put he's paid on the basis of how good he is, not his brother. He's very obviously a class act when he plays.

Just think to be paid £15-20,000 a week and never play 1 full game. So far this season we have got 28 minutes in 15 games, 28/(15 x 90) =  unfit for 98% of the game time so far.

I couldnt agree more.

Its absolutely ridiculous that clubs like us continue to waste valuable funds taking gambles on washed up crocks.

I think its safe to assume that he will one of the top 3 wage earners at the club also, which makes it even worse.

Players weren't "tougher in the old days"

But we are more enlightened now - we have a lot more information on just about every metric of a players health

And the game is much quicker and more intense - the players are way fitter and stronger (for the way the game is currently played) and thus the margins are much slimmer

Maybe some old timers could effortlessly adapt to modern training methods and games

Maybe some modern players could adapt to the game of yesteryear 

But we are where we are

Wasn't Charles involved with the open training session at Hillsboro over 3 weeks ago, if he's had no set back surely he's fit.

I'm not disputing that he's bad value and has been a poor signing as a result. 

But that is very often confused with him being a bad player, which he definitely isn't. 

It's shame he can't put a run of games together because his quality would shine through if he ever could. 

How many like that have we had in the past? I don't know the number, but it's definitely too many!
