Seems like Danny's popularity with the fanbase irked Channers to no end. Bit like Darren Moore, he could never fathom why managers, players etc., get all the platitudes and owners do not. I agree Chansiri cost us a million quid, but the reality is that Danny didn’t want to be here regardless - he’d outgrown us 1 2
Bannofan Posted November 10 Posted November 10 Hi next stop will be a top Bundesliga job, then the national role if it comes up at an opportune time. I certainly don't think he's daft enough to take a job with a crap Premiership team like Leeds, Burnley or Wolves. He'd not be a bad shout for Bournemouth or Brighton though, thinking about it. 1

He ultimately wants the Bayern job To get that he’s going to need success in the PL or Bundesliga with another club first 1

I can’t see that you can go straight from Rangers to Bayern regardless of Kompany’s contract tbh 1

Thought he did already have the "Global SUperstar" name from his playing career than Röhl does not. 1

Liam_Baggies Posted November 10 Posted November 10 He can do nothing more at the moment 3 out of 3 in the league - two clean sheets away from home - which given the record before him is an achievement. Europe is a bit of meh but that's a reflection on Thelwell and his abysmal recruitment and not Röhl. He's also gone to great lengths to get the fans onside. He's respected the club traditions wearing a suit to games, he's helped set up the UB tifo in the ground and has helped ignite a bond between the club and the supporters. The protests will continue, but they're not in the slightest bit aimed at Röhl. So far, so good. 1

Roehl has no chance of the Bayern job unless he can do something of real note. They won't care for his experience so far, and finishing behind Celtic won't inspire them either. Xabi Alonso will probably be available by the time they next need a coach. Glasner maybe. 1 1

We may have got another season out of him were it not for the f*ckwit in charge at the time, but I think Danny always viewed Sheffield Wednesday as the first step in what will hopefully be a very successful managerial career. Seems like a man with a plan. Rangers is not an easy job, but it's a pretty high profile one which will only help his CV further if he can get things right.

I think we might have got another season out of him too had DC just let him get on with the job. Whatever the final straw was on falling out and exactly when we'll probably never know. But seem to remember Danny saying in press conferences from early April he'd informed the club of his intentions for the end of the season. The fact he had to come back 4 months later in August as it still wasnt sorted only reflects the dire way the club was being run.

Best manager we've had in years, but driven out by the moron he had to work for. These are generally the Chancer apologists, set of Kuntz

Much as we all love Röhl, he was gone way before the end of the season in his head. This is why I am a bit "meh" - of course, Röhl did a magnificent job, but he also saw this as a stepping stone, and anyone who does not realise this is a bit naive. Röhl was never staying, no matter what. 2

Röhl was never staying, no matter what. It's hard to imagine a manager of any repute not potentially considering joining a club in the Championship as a stepping stone though. They come in, they do a good job, they get a job at a higher level—that surely has to be a reasonable part of their thinking? Having a manager that comes in and thinks this is as good as it gets would be terrible. Had Chansiri been in a position to match Röhl's talent and ability with the right support structure and finances to really build the club such that we could realistically challenge for promotion to the Prem, then even if Röhl does have ambitions to manage at the biggest and greatest clubs in football, we may well have found that even as a stepping stone, he could've been with us still for a couple of seasons yet. 2
andrew1974 Posted Wednesday at 11:10 Posted Wednesday at 11:10 I just wish we’d been able to hang on to Chris Powell to be honest.
