darra Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Sorry if already posted The story of the European Super League has returned. It's all in the news again because, on Wednesday, Real Madrid said they are planning legal action against UEFA. The Spanish club wants “substantial damages” over UEFA's blocking of the Super League in 2023. They're asking for €4.5 billion 1

darra Posted November 4 Author Posted November 4 The €4.5 billion is what they expected to earn from playing in the league

Just make it clear there’s no coming back This is all about the dominance of the English Premier league. The EPL is huge and everyone keeps saying the bubble will burst however the opposite is happening. The wealth of the English league is becoming bigger and bigger with the gap widening….making it more and more difficult for the Spanish and Italian leagues to compete. In 20 years the Spanish could become like the Scottish league where as the Premier league becomes the world super league. So what can Real and Barca do to stop the gap widening? They’ve taken their charity shield type match to Saudi Arabia and hope to take some league matches to USA…but the league has blocked it. So the best weapon to tackle to English league is to form a new super league and invite the bigger English clubs to play in it. They are gambling and hoping that a new Euro super league becomes more popular world wide than the English league. 1

I'd let the big clubs here go I've said for ages the best thing for us is the EFL becomes our main league , Championship becomes our top tier , we properly run ffp alongside it , and we have a fair just competition I'm all for clubs just trading players as a form of bartering If you want someone's top striker do it the old pokemon card trading game, giving up 3 of your players to get him, yes it sounds daft but it would actually be an interesting gimmick for the youngsters in my opinion.
beswetherick Posted November 4 Posted November 4 They’re like if the pigs were Spanish… and had won a trophy in the last century

It is, but Real Madrid and Barca are actually the reason their league is less popular. In England you’ve got a spread of biggish clubs and it makes it more exciting (I.e. for all the Premier League’s faults and ‘Big 4’ or ‘Big 6’ we can say that Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City, Spurs, Leicester, Liverpool have all had a tilt at the title in the last 10 years), Real Madrid and Barca take all the money in Spain, and aside from Atletico Madrid no one else gets a look in. 1

Exactly this.. Distribution of TV money equally would increase competitiveness creating enhanced demand for the product... Back in the days of Deportivo winning the title and Denilson's transfer to Betis were when La Liga had the chance to challenge. Even Sevilla dominating UEFA cup hasn't helped domestically..
