ChrisWaddlesMullet Posted Tuesday at 12:56 Posted Tuesday at 12:56 Posted on a similar thread in The Boardroom section… I think this should be considered - Unite and the PFA taking joint action on a match day, which should be the derby (no travel issues for most fans). I believe that strikes have to follow certain procedure to be deemed “official/legal” and in doing so that means that employees are protected from discriminatory action and their jobs are protected. These procedures include having to ballot members, a minimum percentage of members voting, and a notice period to the employer that a ballot is being held. I think there’s sufficient time for this to happen before the derby on 23rd November. At places I’ve worked the staff lose a day’s wages. I’m sure some Owlstalkers have more detailed understanding than me so could confirm. A strike would reverberate around the world, not just locally. Maybe...but it begs the question of why they're doing it now if what you say holds true. 2

Sham67 Posted Tuesday at 13:46 Posted Tuesday at 13:46 The best thing here. Is that the staff only need to strike on match days to have maximum effect. 2 3

Inspector Lestrade Posted Tuesday at 15:13 Posted Tuesday at 15:13 Is a free capitalist country of course there shouldn’t be any unions. Do people seriously want the owners to earn less?

M Royds Posted Tuesday at 15:21 Posted Tuesday at 15:21 But Unions are bad, or what we’ve been told so. 1

Surely this can't go on for much longer. News is that Chansiri is ignoring calls and refusing any communication. It won't end well for him. What we up to now? 6 embargoes? Staff unionising, regulator sniffing about, protests on and off the pitch. Sell up. For fûcks sake. Do the right thing, pick up your phone and make a deal. I want to take my son to a game this season. Took him to watch us smash Plymouth last season and he absolutely loved it. He keeps wanting me to take him again and I absolutely will not until Chansiri has gone. I think the window for DC willingly to sell has probably gone, any interested buyer 3-4 months ago has been told he wants £100m and are likely to be less inclined to even meet £50m after the demise of the last few months, this is going to the regulator, HMRC winding up order or some other way. What a clown to think he is above paying wages/taxes etc etc, surely it's going to end badly for him now!!! 1 3
