Kevan Posted Tuesday at 16:04 Posted Tuesday at 16:04 I'm sure that song ended "and Eustace is better than Rattin" rather than the line about the pigs being in for a thrashin'. Maybe there were 2 versions sung. 1
alleni Posted Tuesday at 17:05 Posted Tuesday at 17:05 My all time favourite player. If I'm not wrong the brothers were both made captain when they played at Hillsborough following stopping clubs. 2

Hayton owl Posted Tuesday at 19:17 Posted Tuesday at 19:17 I saw his first game for Wednesday. I think it was against Bolton and we won 1 - 0. Everyone said if we had signed him earlier we would have stayed up that season. He was my favourite all time Wednesday player so I started playing in goal. He made centre halves job easier because of the way he dealt with crosses commanding the whole penalty area. 1
Ronaldo1972 Posted Tuesday at 19:25 Posted Tuesday at 19:25 He was before my time, but my late dad used to tell me about how good Ron Springett was
flying-owl Posted Tuesday at 19:58 Posted Tuesday at 19:58 Ron was my favourite keeper when I started going to Hillsborough in September 1966. He’s still my favourite Wednesday keeper!! 1
Blatter Posted Tuesday at 21:10 Posted Tuesday at 21:10 He arrived at Hillsborough in my first full season watching Wednesday. A few comments in the crowd about him being too small for a keeper. He won everybody over in that first season making wonderful saves. Never wore gloves and always caught the ball being both strong and agile. Came to Sheffield by train for every match from his home in London. We eventually swapped him for his brother Peter in a deal that allowed Ron to return to QPR and finish his career back in London.Happy days they were 2

Got a signed black and white photograph of him with the programme. Always wanted to be a keeper like him but, in truth I couldn't catch a cold. Still have a picture of him on my laptop. Great keeper. Didn't he play up front in the second half and score ?

I can't believe that address cos I lived in Broadhurst Gardens (number 36 I think it was but can't be certain) for about 18 months in the late 1970's. It was then Government digs as I was in the Civil Service and they put me up there. I then moved to a house share in Harrow through a work colleague who knew a guy in the London Owls and who was looking for a new house mate. It was just round the back of Finchley Road tube and we used to go to The North Star pub on the other side of Finchley Road. Some great memories of my time there.
Geedee Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Ron was just before my time but a memory of his brother was everytime Peter made a mistake there would be grumbles saying Ron wouldn't have done that. It must have haunted him all his football career. 1

We were in steep decline by this time. 1

Exactly the 1966 cup final side was virtually dismantled within 3 years ( including Johnny Ritchie)and mainly replaced with players from the lower leagues !!!! 1
