WimJunk Posted September 30 Posted September 30 I see he's retired, aged 38. I thought he was a decent player, from times of a higher budget. Memories? 2 1
areNOTwhatTHEYseem Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Really rated Fletcher. Before he played for us I thought he was your typical big bustling centre forward, but he had a lovely touch and some fantastic linkup play. A much better footballer than I'd previously given him credit for. 5
Bedford Owl Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Very good intelligent footballer, a little blighted by injury. The way he left tainted my view of him however. 7
Whitechapel Owl Posted September 30 Posted September 30 The Fletcher threads always descend into slagging him off over the way he left the club. Before that happens, I think he was an excellent player with a terrific touch, and always thought you could tell he'd spent a lot of his career in the Premier League. Just looked a class above at times, even though he had some very good Championship level teammates at the time. 3
HIGHERSTATE Posted September 30 Posted September 30 In great hindsight we couldnt afford him. Good player though.

He didn't want to leave but ,chancer offered him a new deal but with a 75% wage cut ... I'd be off aswell 1 2

Highly recommend watching the recent podcast with him on, forgot the name, but let's say Chansiri did a..... well a Chansiri, they questioned Fletcher on the recent ongoings at Wednesday and he looked gutted, said he really wanted to stay, got absolutely screwed with wages, but looked visibly gutted about the club. 1

Elvin Parsnip Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Gave his all until it didn't make sense to which I totally understand. Great player who got injured going in for a brave header early on in his time with us. Linked up very well with Hooper too.
prowl Posted September 30 Posted September 30 I liked him and understand his actions before he left. I didn't at the time but after hearing what went on, I think he did right protecting himself.
eckington owl Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Good player. Got pelters when he left but I wonder if those people’s opinions have changed with how things have unfolded since? 1
jwhancock Posted September 30 Posted September 30 (edited) He was and he said on TV that he loved it at Wednesday but he would have to take a 75% pay cut so he went to Stoke. Typical of Chansiri Edited September 30 by jwhancock Wrong entry
