Anyone else get the feeling that Russell Martin just isn't a very good manager? At all?

Ridiculously over promoted. They lose the old firm at the weekend and he’s in big trouble.

Martin is an interesting character .   He did no more than ok at mk Dons and Swansea, and scraped promotion with a strong Southampton side .  He plays risky football at the back and leans too heavily on possession.  I just think the game is moving on a bit from that and moving back to pace and power as the way to win games.  I would argue even spurs , the ultimate team for tapping it around, have woken up and brought in a pragmatic manager who will defend properly and rely more on physicality, set plays and pace.
West Ham with potter also seem to have been left behind in the evolution of the game recently away from possession pattern football.

  Rangers are stuck with a

dogmatic manager in Martin and an even more dogmatic coach in Mike Williamson who seem determined to prove they are better / brighter than their peers and it has already unraveled.

its Scottish football and rangers at the end of the day. It’s a blood and thunder game up there when you are away at Dundee on a Tuesday night in the howling wind you need big guys with big balls to fight your way to results.  They would be better off hiring a David Moyes type who recognises this and will adapt accordingly.

The defending was a joke. No leaders. No tracking back. The players already look like they want to be anywhere else. Martin walks if he loses at the weekend surely as that's nine points behind after 4 games.

The league one statements are just the usual generic crap associated to Scottish football.

Complete ignorance of some of the average crap that’s served up in the championship week in week out.

Give over, Scottish premiership is the pits lol

that’s why Celtic got knocked out by a Kazakhstan team and rangers got stuffed 9-1 on aggregate by Club Brugge

it’s the forgotten land, I’d honestly rather play 3rd division English football

All very selective though isn't it those results?

Quarter finalists of the Europa last season beating the Belgian champions (ahead of Bruge), wins away at Mourinho's Fenerbache an then finishing ahead of the likes of Roma, Anderlecht, Porto and Galatasaray in the group stages. Even the winners of the tournament didn't beat Rangers

Equally, you had Celtic finishing above Man City in the champions league last season after only losing 2 of their 8 games..

Granted this seasn has been a hopeless start for both but theres reasons to that.. but yeah, its the pits..

That was one of the worst games of football I've seen in a while.

Dreary, drab rubbish.

Neither side willing to go for it, perfectly happy with sideways and backwards passing.

Looks like Scottish football has taken a step backwards this year if the league and European performances are anything to go by.

Rangers still trying to settle new players into the team and a new system

Not a typical Russell Martin style - a bit more direct at times - they also seemed to opt for more solidity- unsurprisingly after their shaky start to the season.

I really liked Aasgaard at Luton last season but this game swallowed him up a bit and he got caught too many times - or maybe it was the occasion

They all need to get up to speed really

Disappointed in Celtic - thought they'd overwhelm Rangers by the end but they fell well short.

Good news for Hearts but the Celtic juggernaut will haul them all in by the seasons end
