Tony Bloom is no fool, so when he says he would be disappointed if Hearts did not win the league in the next decade you have to take it seriously. I think Bloom joining hearts is a masterstroke tbh. I also agree that Hearts will at some point break the glasgow stronghold on the division. I am not sure whether McInnes is the man to oversee that but time will tell. I'm glad he has an opportunity. There was some derision to Bloom's comments the other day but certainly not from me. If he'd have turned up at Rangers I'd be have been buzzing. 1

You only have to look how he has taken Brighton from a L1 club playing at an athletics track to european football and an absolute model club in terms of how it operates to know that this man knows his onions. Hearts playing in a gorgeous city like Edinburgh definitely has lots of potential. Was interesting how he cited that as a factor in his interview the other day.
SiJ Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Time will tell, but I'm not sure Russell Martin has got what it takes to manage a club the size of Rangers. Bit too heart on his sleeve and one who perhaps lets his emotions get the better of him. Yes, the SPL is not the best division on the planet, but managing Rangers is still a huge job with massive expectations. To be already 4 points behind Celtic is not good enough for them. 1
owls maniac Posted August 13 Author Posted August 13 They lost last night but still made it through. Martin calling out the “outrageous defending” by his players. 1

It must be a Russell Martin thing that wherever he ends up his defenders are outrageous. We've conceded over 100 shots in his six games so far - that is far too ridiculously open and the play going forwards has been the slow, turgid football many of us feared. Possession for possession sake with no real idea how to break sides down. There's still some work to do in the window but I hope its sooner rather than later otherwise this might be a slightly painful experience. Patience is required though to see whether he can get this right.
alanharper Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Rangers 2 down at home in less than 7 minutes in their final CL qualifier first leg. Dreadful defending for both goals. Might as well come home now, Djeidi. 1 1
Ibbo48 Posted August 19 Posted August 19 3-0 down and comically bad defending The natives are restless for.sure Martin will be lucky to see the month out 2
Skyline Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Was a poor appointment from the start. He'll be gone soon. Started the season well against very poor standard opposition in the CL Qualifiers but correct me if I'm wrong they've not won in the league yet and getting battered tonight. 1 1

Could see Danny Röhl end up there at some point. Martin is one of the most overrated managers going - so stubborn in his ways. 3
alanharper Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Gassama goal disallowed by VAR. That'll save a few threads being started (unless he scores later in the game, obviously)
SiJ Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Going well then. I just don't think Rangers will give Martin the time to implement his style of play, whatever that is. Highly unlikely to get Champions League football now and an underwhelming start in the SPL. Tbf, you look at their team and it hardly screams Champions League does it. 1
Liam_Baggies Posted August 19 Posted August 19 This really isn’t going to work - any goodwill in the fan base has gone. Sack him. 2
Owl.1867 Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Funny that Rangers couldn't handle Brugge, whilst yet another season where we get told that Hearts are about to break the duopoly has already skidded to a halt.
