SiJ Posted September 28 Posted September 28 I'm not convinced that Arsenal have the emotional maturity to actually win a title.
NYCOWL Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Gyorkes will need to justify his fee. What I’ve seen so far is… ok
scram Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Don't think going to a back 5 is the right thing for Newcastle They're gonna be stuck deep I know the idea is to create counter attack opportunities but keep inviting high pressure increases the likelihood they'll crash
NYCOWL Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Well that’s an answer. Kind of win that champions get.
scram Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Bad decision from howe Newcastle were awful after the formation change
BridportOwl Posted September 28 Posted September 28 I want Arsenal to win the Premier League. I enjoy watching them more than most Premier League teams. Some good English talent in their squad and they are not Liverpool or Man City. 1
scram Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Said arsenal the last 2 seasons... Hope I can hex them again but they do look the best bet Every sub they brought in would be a starter for most prem teams I just hope city find their feet again this season to make it interesting
1867owl Posted September 29 Posted September 29 Not a chance Arsenal will win the title, or any other silverware for that matter. It absolutely amazes me when people tip them for the title when they've proved for the last 5 years or so that they're miles away, mentally, as a club. They'll lose when they play City and Liverpool and then it's over for them. Declan Rice is absolute class though. He ran the show yesterday. Englands best player at the moment.
Bannofan Posted September 29 Posted September 29 Rice, Saka, Eze, Madueke. Basically they have the best England midfielders in one squad. Shame Myles Lewis-Skelly isn't getting the side, he's looked like England's best option at LB Hell of a squad Arteta and the director of football has built, and it's not come cheap. They need silverware this season, I don't think there is a stronger side on paper.
markg Posted September 29 Posted September 29 Still can’t see Arsenal doing it. At some point they are likely to have to beat Liverpool or Man City and I don’t think they have it in them
SiJ Posted September 29 Posted September 29 I think Arsenal's issue is mentality and it goes back to the manager and the mindset he has cultivated. They've got the players to do it, but I think they'll inevitably unravel at some point. That football club seems to operate in absolute extremes. Yesterday was a huge win for them but they are still playing catch up.
NYCOWL Posted September 29 Posted September 29 I just think they have needed an absolutely lethal no9 for years.
sheffield_dave Posted September 29 Posted September 29 There seemed to be a lot of talk (and money) around a really small carousel of 9's over the summer, and I think the season will end up being defined by which of them work or not. I don't think Gyorkes looks great, but I'm not sure you can make a case for any of the other potential options looking any better based on what we've seen so far. Sesko at Man U speaks for itself, Isak still isn't fit and the lad Newcastle signed - while being a very funny addition to the league - looks pretty questionable IMO. Early days though. Even Watkins has come out like a total wet fart for Villa despite being the most settled of them other than Haaland. I think Liverpool will win the league and I think a big part of it will be having not just one of them, but 2 of the really good centre forwards that everybody else in the league (other than City) seems to want and doesn't have. I think Liverpool are Wirtz clicking and Isak being fit away from suddenly looking like champions material again. 1
scram Posted September 29 Posted September 29 West Ham looked a different beast tonight Early days and all that but it looked like they'd been unshackled
