Sadly that’s where the similarities end.

what a player Gary Shelton was!

I was at St.James Park to see him score this great goal when we beat Newcastle 1-0 in our promotion season 1983-84. (goal at 1 min 25 sec).

Just thinking about it. It’s unbelievable that a player of the ability of Sterland, with the career he had didn’t make enough from the game to retire a millionaire. How times have changed!

True

Sometimes now kids are millionaires before they’ve even made 20 senior appearances at some clubs

If the posts about his habits are correct then he is probably lucky that he didn't make more money...at least he has a limiter

Gary Shelton has a very similar face to Joey P in this picture.

I thought he looked like Chris Coleman there.

Is the one next to the landlord Carl Shutt?

The one on the end might be Carl Shutt without his tache.

If it isn’t Russell Black..

My first thought was Trevor Matthewson.

Difficult to get a picture when he was young.

The one below is when he played for Birmingham City.

God I remember that goal like yesterday

Such a shame we lost out on the title to Chelsea on goal difference!
