IWEDFM Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 Only a matter of time before it happens in England Too many complications extending the season with players out of contract, pre-contract agreements already in place, players not up to speed physically etc. 1
WalthamOwl Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 (edited) Personally think it is the most sensible thing to do. Hope the English leagues do the same. Wouldn’t be bothered if they gave the title to Liverpool though, as much as people on here dislike them they deserve it this season. Edited April 24, 2020 by WalthamOwl 3

Mountain Owl Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 We need to do the same and thats irrelevant of where we are in the league. Most clubs will have many out of contract players before they would be able to restart and there's no guarantee when that could happen. Call it a day, no winners, no losers and start again whenever we can. 2
The only way is S6 Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 How do they decide who plays in next season’s European competitions?

Essentially if the season is declared null and void then the same teams as last season? Or based on current league position but that opens many cans of worms. As if the season's results don't count...they don't count. There should not be a halfway house. 1

This season is cancelled, null and void. Next season starts when it is safe to do so with all teams in exactly the same position as at the start of this season. Those that qualified for Europe this season still qualify next season. The fixture list can even be exactly the same. The only alternative is to play the remaining 9 or 10 games to complete this season when it is safe to do so, which could be 4-6 months away. Clubs will have gone to the wall and squads will be totally different, it's a non starter. When would next season begin ?? Football is nothing without fans so behind closed doors is farcical. The whole prevarication is farcical. End the season now. 1 1 3
The only way is S6 Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 It's over so nothing counts apparently. Must be same to qualify as previous year then.
Nut Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 Based on the way the Dutch have done it, I think the pigs would be in Europe.
Ever the pessimist Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 With their league having far less money involved, and very few clubs having the resources to go down the legal route it’s probably easier for them to make that call. Even so, the top of their second tier are understandably not happy:

Like I've mentioned before, if the owls were sitting where Leeds are in the table, the clamour on here to finish the season would be deafening.
Wor’Jackie Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 For all the posturing of the PL and other UEFA coefficient leagues, the reality has hit home and it stings: There isnt really any viable way of getting the 19/20 season done. Now that Eredivisie has been (rightly) voided, it follows that other leagues will follow suit. Huge chance for Wednesday now. We can wipe the slate clean and make ourselves a more sustainable club. 1
