bradowl Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Not sure if that link works as I'm on my phone Works perfectly, first time I've seen this. Great memory's and I remembered right about mob of Chelsea fans at front of kop near North stand.
Guest minsk owl Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Not sure if that link works as I'm on my phone Works great , Brilliant !! .......... never seen this before
fredmciverslovechild Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 (edited) Brilliant video. I'm sure it was on YTV the following day but this is probably the first time I've seen the footage since. was on the Kop that day. By the way, didn't Brian Joicey later admit he didn't touch the ball for his hat-trick goal against Palace? Seem to recall he went up with the goalie for a high ball and it actually went in off the goalie's fist. Still, it's in the record books! What a great night that was. Guest Darth Sturrock Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Yep. went to this one with my Grandad who has sadly passed away now. They were Division 1 and us Div. 2 I remember Chelsea playing in red shirts, white shorts, and green hooped socks, we were white shirts and blue shorts. We played well for about 30 minutes and took the lead, but once Chelsea equalised, there was only going to be one winner, and the inevitable happened in the 2nd half, and I think it was Osgood who scored it... A great atmosphere that day, shame we lost, but hey ho, we weren't good enough, against a solid Chelsea team. I don't know why this sticks out in my mind, but when we were approaching the ground, we were asked where the nearest/best pub was for a drinkie, by a couple of Chelsea fans. (A married couple) My Grandad told them there was a bar in the ground, and they seemed really surprised..... I don't recall, but was it unusual back then for a football club to have a bar?
torryowl Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 nice to the penaterive jeremy thorpe at the beginning of the vid ......
Wolfmanjack Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Painful introduction to 70s football violence as a sixteen year old on the Kop that day , suffering a broken nose from a 40 something Chelsea skinhead who I'm pretty sure only had one arm ! I bet you saw him, and thought to yourself, "We'll be safe here, he looks 'armless enough". 1 3
ttimeowls Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 It was my first ever owls game v Chelsea and was in the upper west amazing atmosphere and lots of trouble during and after the game
roaminowl Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I bet you saw him, and thought to yourself, "We'll be safe here, he looks 'armless enough". It's a poor attempt but as I've never seen you try to crack a joke before, it's a +1 from me. 3
Arctic Owl Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 My first ever owls game, went on the kop. I don't remember too much about it though, other than we scored first and then lost.
Utah Owl Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 In the Northwest Corner that day. Great atmosphere, shame about the result. My first experience of a 40k+ crowd at Hillsborough.
Guest Charlton Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Some Chelsea fans were on the Kop but it looks like Wednesday fans were behind the leppings lane goal. Where did away fans go back then at Hillsborough?
Utah Owl Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Those were the days when you went where you want. If you thought you were hard enough you'd go on the oppositions Kop and try to take it, otherwise on the opposite end. Home fans would also be in both ends. Seems crazy now but that's how it was.
dunsbyowl Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 That's spooky - just watched that footage and an advert for "Tena for Men" appeared - Lovely
markowl Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 It's a poor attempt but as I've never seen you try to crack a joke before, it's a +1 from me. I thought all his posts were attempted jokes
