  1. I genuinely thought Di Canio was in serious danger that night
  2. I've been to Rangers training ground Not only is it a very good facility but its in a lovely location Scotland generally is a beautiful country And just for the record it's not compulsory to live within 500yds of the stadium But I get what Martin saying about his time there yet the fact is he just wasn't ready for a job of that complexity and pressure Stupid appointment by rangers and has damaged both parties
  3. Rodri is the ultimate complete midfielder Looks like he had a hamstring issue Quite common in players who return after ACL injury I suppose for him and city its quite opportune that it coincides with the international break Depending on the extent of injury of course...
  4. I know him and he's genuinely one of the nicest people I've met in football I agree that him and rangers were not a good fit from the outset I think he was unfairly sacked at saints but the pressure cooker of rangers is another level and needs a specific type of character Dyche would be a good choice but I'm not sure he'd go there. Gerrard would be good in as much as he has a lot of support among the Gers but it's a different situation now Being manager of either of the old firm is almost unique in football Celtic spent a long time getting it wrong but now it's been a rangers problem for too long to be the window lickers On another note be interested to see if hearts can keep up their form and represent a serious challenge
  5. I liked the look of City in the first half - something back to their best But 2nd half they were awful Losing Rodri didn't help but there are signs they are getting it together but still a work in progress
  6. Kanes stats are insane He's just about a goal a game for over a hundred games He's just about rewritten the record books for German football Phenomenon player
  7. I said Liverpool were out of sorts - and they need to find their rhythm with their new players But bloody hell they were atrocious And it's not a one-off - they've lost 3 have this week and they'd be expecting to win at least of of those 3 and draw the other- at worst! Arsenal look the most complete team by a distance this season Hope city can get it together to at lest offer a challenge
  8. Yes he has and fifa has folded like a temu deckchair They should tell the US that Iran gets reinstated or the WC won't have any games in the US Maybe trump should crown the US team as winners now...
  9. Another go for who? Newcastle?
  10. If players refuse to fulfil fixtures we might get a bit of leeway from the league due a couple of games - might... By after that they'll protect the integrity of their competition, expunge our record this season and basically that's the end of the club as we know it I'm grateful the players are at least giving us the hope that the club can be salvaged as a league club I cannot even contemplate supporting the players refusing to play
  11. Yes I know. But he's still only getting a few minutes off the bench
  12. Meanwhile Bellingham is currently a bit part player at Madrid
  13. West Ham looked a different beast tonight Early days and all that but it looked like they'd been unshackled
  14. Said arsenal the last 2 seasons... Hope I can hex them again but they do look the best bet Every sub they brought in would be a starter for most prem teams I just hope city find their feet again this season to make it interesting
  15. Bad decision from howe Newcastle were awful after the formation change
  16. Don't think going to a back 5 is the right thing for Newcastle They're gonna be stuck deep I know the idea is to create counter attack opportunities but keep inviting high pressure increases the likelihood they'll crash
  17. The irony/hypocrisy of arsenal complaining about a "push" from a set piece is that they base all their attacking set pieces on blocking, holding, pushing and fouling
  18. I think arsenal look like they have the most complete team But they need to stop slipping on banana skins such as this game They are so dominant yet somehow still not quite convincing I actually think Man C recruited well and I like the look of them this year and wouldn't count them out Liverpool look to me how Man City looked last season - jaded and could do with a reset
  19. Agreed It seems there's a different interpretation of the rules every week now I'm at a loss as to how the defender was deemed to have made an attempt to play the ball?
  20. Should have been a red card surely?
  21. Interesting he (or the strapline) cites "data nonsense" when he himself was a big exponent of it in his managerial career The difference being that now the data is much richer and much more exacting - where the data he used from Charles Reep and Charles Hughes was much more supposition and percentage based - leading to the ugliest football I've ever seen.
  22. It's a horrible yet freak accident It's a terrible dichotomy regarding ground "safety" I worked in non league football, and visited plenty of grounds when pro clubs use them for their u21 teams Tbh I wouldn't walk my dog on some of the pitches for gear off him ripping his feet off. Yes, there is a conversation to be had for sure The dilemma occurs because how easily a rule change could regulate many clubs out of business. I'm all for maximising safety and I've raised concerns many times Billy was ex-Arsenal u21 and its profoundly sad. RIP Billy
  23. It should have got them the win tbf Golden opportunity to score a 2nd goal when Haaland went through and instead of squaring the ball for Foden to tap into an empty net he opted to play a back pass to Raya... In truth having seen all the teams this season I think there a serious hangover from playing all through the summer - every team looks knackered and jaded I don't think I've ever seen city play so unproductively - apart from the CL final once they went a goal up and opted to protect it. I think on review arsenal will see a golden opportunity missed. While city may feel similar by dint of the fact they were leading (and attacking) in the 93rd minute...
  24. Tbf that was almost the dream game for him to return to. Horne to a very beatable opponent and they stacked it It's early days granted, but I'm not a subscriber to the theory he's a really good manager - not top level at least I think he's a fraud that got lucky It happens - like another Adkins They have a ceiling once they have ridden the crest of the fortune wave.
  25. City are playing like England under Southgate - dropping deep and defending the area And they're not doing that at all convincingly I understand why they have taken Haaland off because he was chasing every lost cause and doing the press single handedly But now they not only lost their only threat going forward but also a strong defender at set pieces. Arsenal really can't afford to blow a chance like this
