Glad you're getting your money's worth.

It sounded contradictory, saying people aren't militant on the whole, but that we should interrupt a match. I mean a group of braver-than-most people will have to find a way of doing it. Little chance of getting a big portion of the thinly spread out crowd involved unfortunately. Maybe if the crowd was more compact and closer to the pitch, bit I cannot see it.

I think people are being a bit naive with their suggestions, instead needing to more consider what is actually likely to have a considerable uptake amongst our fanbase. Hopefully the Trust have access to advice from people in marketing or similar, because a lukewarm protest is probably more counter productive than no protest at all. It's about tactically picking your battles/timing. Which is what makes the next one so awkward. Last night was powerful, but it was crucial to choose an unattractive fixture/kick off time on the back of poor results. A chunk of the stayaways won't have the stomach for missing consecutive games, and a run of half hearted boycotts would mean the 'only interested if it's enmasse' crowd will never boycott again. This would be a wasted opportunity for a future TV game further down the line. Likewise, boycotting the pigs is a nonstarter, there will be too many easy excuses within reach. The other challenge is that people tend to lose interest if things aren't ramped up each time. Leaflets and turning our backs will no longer cut it, yet people are also generally non militant/unobtrusive themselves. Human beings also don't like having to go out their way for things too much, which is why staying away for a match is more popular than sitting in for an hour after fulltime, or marching from the town hall. This Saturday is way too soon to publicise a supporter protest of any sort, but I think significant disruption of a match has to be the next step. This is something the Trust don't want to explicitly call for so I'm not sure where we go now!

Full Boycott Against Middlesbrough - How Many Tickets Left?
Salli replied to BIG D's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
A boycott is much more convenient for fans than sitting in a cold Hillsborough stadium until 11pm, and the appetite for such will reflect this. 15,000 missing fans with 90 minutes of sky coverage, or 50 fans huddled on the kop unseen by cameras. -
Like it too, just sounds a bit rubbish on our awful speakers. BMTH were formed in Sheffield, and the singer owns the Church bar on edge of Kelham Island.

I wouldn't call Thornbridge a small business

The thing is, unless things are handed to fans on a plate, it will be lacklustre. I took whistles but most wont go out their way to procure something they likely dont already have to hand. And the whole three-way protest thing is messy. Diluted. Better to have 20% of fans consolidated, than 30% of fans protesting in individual ways. Imo.

Would you back a boycott Vs Stoke?

So your advice for season ticket holders this calendar year is...what? -
Would you back a boycott Vs Stoke?
Salli replied to Bassetts Allsorts's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Cannot agree. If nobody turned up against Stoke, it proves to DC that the fans hold the power to starve him out. It says we hold the cards. Any lingering thoughts of clinging on could be extinguished in 90 minutes, because showing fans as being willing to miss games, will by extension show him that we're prepared not to renew season tickets. -
Fail of the Century. The Story of the Humble Club Sandwich.
Salli replied to Pablo Bonvin's topic in General Football Chat
Did a beer festival in Nottingham yesterday Often wear a retro Wednesday shirt (Bukta 84) to work events, as it's a great conversation starter, and receives alot of attention. Amazing how many Weds fans there are around, and just how respected we are by fans of other clubs in general Anyhow. A fellow owl introduced himself to me during the session, and kindly gave me this sticker Presumably keeps them on his person at all times, which is fair -

After the last 25 years, I think Wednesday fans have earned the right to be sceptical and question things. Especially given the lack of transparency re investors. Some of the 'positive' posters in this thread would be making similar observations to the 'negative' ones, were this an ongoing saga over at United. -
We actually considered opening the taproom (and it's small car park) for this but decided it wouldn't be worth our while Plenty of cars part on ironmonger road directly across from the brewery but I have seen a warden once in a blue moon as its double yellows There's a reasonably priced car park at the cattle market just around the corner - 10 mins walk to city ground - or pay the predictably extortionate multi story prices in town. Probs some options in west bridgford too within walking distance, but wouldn't know the cost

Visual protests are more striking and digitally sharable.

SWFC Trust Watford Away - Protest
Salli replied to SWFC Trust's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Singing is important, but doesn't make for a very interesting photograph. It needs to be visual. -
SWFC Trust Watford Away - Protest
Salli replied to SWFC Trust's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
There has to be consistancy between protests, rather than changing the 'brand' colours depending on our opposition. Also the trust will have plenty of leaflets left over, along with many fans that still have old ones in their matchday coat pocket. -
Private, or secret? Imagine not being able to hold your partner's hand in public.

Invest in Hillsborough... or move?
Salli replied to Maidstone Owl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
They weren't though in a European spot, when talks with the council began during the first year back in the top flight. If an investor or buyer was committed enough to build us a new stadium (at the same capacity as the one we have now ), then I don't think it will be at the expense of promotion-worthy playing staff. -
Invest in Hillsborough... or move?
Salli replied to Maidstone Owl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I should add, that they are also in talks with the council about either increasing the city ground, or moving. They've already identified potential sites should it be the latter. -

Salli replied to Maidstone Owl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Forest have a season ticket waiting list of more than 11000. Football has moved on. Less than 40k would be insane. -
Anything less than promotion sees us losing Röhl, and having to start afresh in the summer. On this basis, there's little to be pleased about by a mid table finish
