  1. I don't really see the point in getting rid of him. This season's a write off, he's had more than his hands tied behind his back. The players are fighting for him but obviously we're way off. I'd give him the season personally. How realistic that is considering someone's going to splash out some money to take the club on I don't know. If the new owners decide they want a change, they might as well do it ASAP so that person has as long as possible to work with the squad, in terms of recruitment for next season.
  2. He's a class bloke. Wasn't at the event but got his booked signed in the shop one match day. Wasn't like here you go its signed off you go.Had a proper chat wth you , a gent.
  3. Pleased for Ange. Some of the comments about him are ridiculous. Do I think they should retain him? No. Think its best for both parties they goes their seperate ways.
  4. Didn't mean to send just that. I think Kettering who are 3rd or 4th charge more at £15. I have a season ticket which works out at £11 something a game. Banbury are a mess off the field, I won't bore you all with it. I went to a members meeting the other month about a vote to put the club up for sale( we're fan owned). A bloke made a comment about more entertaininment on the pitch might get some more people coming in, The chairman turned round and said we're here to talk about revenue not football... you're a football club you can't seperate them( certainly not at this level). Three seasons ago we were getting 900/1000.
  5. Alfreton are terrible to watch, not my cup of tea. When i've seen them against Banbury apart from the first 15-20 minutes its not that effective either.
  6. Was Banbury vs Royston Town in the Southern Premier Centre on Saturday, 2 mid table teams produced an absolute snoozefest. Banbury winning one nill after the right back got on the end of a cross, the initial shot hit the post but he put the rebound in. Banbury keeper Jack Harding played his 400th game for the club. Cost £14 for non members , £13 for members. Attendance 415, way below Banbury's average of 559.
  7. Wilder for the reasons brought up, same with Morgan.
  8. As expeced Aylestone beat Sports pretty easily by 3-0. Sports Keeper and manager sent off in the last minute, arguing over a blatant penalty. Keeper last man tugged the striekr back as he went to go round him.
  9. United Counties for me tomorrow, Easington Sports v Aylestone Park. Sports are 15th and have been terrible this year, they're last game they snatched a point against bottom of the League Leicester Nirvana(they're terrible). Aylestone are second in the league and will probably take the points tomorrow.
  10. As above Derby. I was sat by the dugout, at some point some bloke on his way out had a massive go at David Burrows
  11. Watched Easington Sports (a team in Banbury ) play Newport Pagnell in The United Counties Premier South last night. Sports started the season fairly well, playing a new 3 at the back system , playing out from the back. Since December they've gone back to aimlessly hoofing to a striker who's 5'8 at best. They played well in the first thirty minutes and were 1-0, they conceded on the stroke of halftime. The second half was one way traffic and Pagnell won 5-1. £6 to get in, haven't done programmes for years. Attendance 128, Sports average 120. Banbury 0 Alvechurch 0 - Tuesday night. Alvechurch hit the bar twice, missed a free header from six yards and their striker got a bit cocky in a one on one against the best keeper in the Southern Premier League. Banbury didn't do anything truth be told, plenty of huff and puff no much else. £14 to get in - although i've got a season ticket. No programmes - they're all online from this season, sadly. Attendance 403, Banbury are averaging 568 so far this season.
  12. Going to Banbury v Alvechurch in the Southern Premier Central tonight. Banbury after getting relegated from the NLN last season have been rubbish for most of this season, sitting 13th, 7 points off the relegation places. Simon Holyhead the Banbury manager was Roland Nilssons assistant, at Malmo. I'd have got rid of him, hes signed some good players but he can't get them playing consistently well. Chairman did say a few weeks back pound for pound we have the best squad in the league( he works for Greene King so maybe he'd had a few).....
  13. Yeah i know, 3 of those are in Banbury's league. Interestingly Brian Laws ex assistant Russ Wilcox was Farsley's manager last season. He interviewed for the Banbury job, in the summer. Banbury went for a guy with southern contacts instead...worked out well. Banbury were getting crowds of 1,000 last season, averaged 900 and something. This season lucky to get 500, the attitude of the old gits and the board towards those who created an atmosphere(without causing trouble, admittedly a few caused bothered and got banned) has lead to a number of fans voting with their feet.
  14. I was at Banbury vs Rushall last night, 4th bottom vs 5th bottom, Rushall got a deserved 2-1 win. Since appointing a new manager Banbury have 1 point from his first 5 games in charge, having won the previous two under a caretaker manager. I can't see them staying up. I think all the hard work in getting themselves to the highest level they've ever played at (National League North) is going to be wasted. I think some of the fans will be quite happy in going back to The Southern Premier League Central, as they see the club as theirs and like to keep it as a closed off little social club.
  15. Seen him play a couple of times for Alfreton against Banbury. He's tidy enough, Alfreton are very direct so it does make it hard to judge their midfielders, he takes decent corners. Connor Kirby at Buxton looks fairly good, he's a good passer of the ball. If either got back to The Football League I don't really see them as long term Football League players.
  16. They have sin bins at certain levels of football, the United Counties League (step 5) being one, they don't work. The stronger refs don't use them, the weaker refs who lose control don't use them, as they don't have control of the game as it is. I think at the level I'm talking about they're mainly for dissent, lets just say there is still plenty of dissent.
  17. Banbury beat Steve Watson's Darlington 2-1 last night. Darlington brought 70 odd , which is good for a four hour journey on a Tuesday night. Banbury appointed a new manager last night. Kevin Wilson, he started his career at Banbury before being sold to Derby, going on to play for Ipswich and Chelsea among others, he played 42 times for Northern Ireland.
  18. Sniffer dogs at Brackley too. I wasn't asked for anything but you had to provide ID as an away fan at Brackley. Last year you could only get a ticket as a Banbury fan if you were a club member and they had to view your card and tick you off a list , before going in. The hands in pockets is too far, hopefully they weren't doing it to women and kids. It didn't stop the trouble anyway. As some Brackley fans pushed a chicken wire fence out of the way and came into "no man's land" which meant the idiots from Banbury's end responding and a small fist fight. There is a hooligan element in non league, coupled with what you've said and it being a lot cheaper to watch and you can drink throughout the game(National League North/South and below) and the lads involved don't care about any consequences, as they'll only face any if they get nicked and there is body cam footage.
  19. I went to Brackley vs Banbury on New Year's Day. Its a local derby and we(Banbury) do have some knuckleheads who want to cause trouble. On the way in, I had to empty my pockets and open my coat and be frisked, which seems standard these days. Then the steward says I'm now going to search your pockets and just puts his hands in my pockets, absolute nonsense. Anyway the game itself, Brackley won 3-1. 2 very soft goals, they missed a couple of sitters hit the bar. Banbury could have 3 themselves, ultimately Banbury's players aren't up the standard. Brackley have a fair bit of money, one of their players was at Banbury last year and was sold to Swindon, who released him in the summer. From someone who knows him he was on £750 a week at Swindon, he's now on £850 a week as a part time footballer, at Brackley.
  20. Was at Banbury United v Scunthorpe last night. Jacob Butterfield opened the scoring with a 20 odd yarder for Scunthorpe, in a 2 nil away win. They look a very good side at NLN level, as you'd expect. I don't know how accurate this is but I did hear from someone who works in sports agency that Scunthorpe's three strikers wages are more than Banbury's wage budget per week, Banbury do have one of the lowest budgets in the league, despite the Chairman saying different. I would expect Scunthorpe to be in the top 2, I'd expect Tamworth to drop off. Its a pretty open league this year. Banbury should have enough to stop up, Darlington are bottom of the league, currently. South Shields are doing well under Julio Arca, think they've got a good budget.
  21. Was on loan at my home town in the National League North , Banbury United last year. Fantastic little player, be very surprised if he doesn't go higher.
  22. Totally. I was at a non league game earlier this season.Stood watching it with my cousin and some of his mates, this season this club has suddenly got a "firm"(mostly those banned from local league clubs, apparently) Well it kicked off at this game. I've never heard anything like it, guys in the mid/late 40s and 50s talking about how great it is and its that the "youngsters are coming through". Its a weird subculture that I don't understand. My cousin isn't entirely innocent, when i was walking out him with he said about it, to which I replied, its not my thing at all. The reply came of its important though that people know they can't come here and take the ********, else they'll get a slap... I've definitely noticed this season at this level, wat more abused aimed at players, numerous times smoke bombs end up on the pitch, and reports of trouble at games(i'm talking about this non league not Wednesday, just so no one is confused).
