NEWS: DNA spray to be used at Sheffield derby
g-owls replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
One thing that stuck with me many years ago when I was a child, was an old guy saying that when anyone in authority tells you that their doing something to help, it's the total opposite. All this DNA spray stuff - Someone somewhere will be making a lot of money. Follow the trail and it all leads to the kind of troughs that the 'average Joe' isn't getting anywhere near. Tough old fashioned policing that deals with idiots hell bent on causing trouble doesn't make the money though... -

Mounted horses, six foot tall coppers with size 12 feet and truncheons used to do the job. -
Borson worked at Man City between 2002-2007. Seven years at Investec and also had roles of Chief Executive Officer (Redbus Media Group) to Corporate Development & Investment Director (Clerkenwell Ventures plc). He’s also chief executive of Watchstone Group, who’s majority shareholders are linked with asset management.

The Paolo Di Canio referee push vs Arsenal
g-owls replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Last year through work, I met Des Walker at one of those “An evening with” events in Nottingham. Safe to say, Desmond couldn’t stand Di Canio one bit. Loved Brighty and Carlton though.. -
I won’t be able to attend the Derby County and Hull games so taking up the offer won’t be any good to me, but its a fantastic idea for those who can, and especially with Christmas around the corner. I’ll go to the Preston and Blackburn matches though, and now knowing that the cost for both will be the exact same, it allows us to budget for those.

Home Versus PNE 29th Nov 2025

I don’t mind paying £30 on the Kop for the Preston game. Yes I’d love it to be cheaper, but looking down the road from me, League Two Notts County charge £24 for a similar view on their Kop. Im not doing the pigs game, £40 each for me and the wife along with another £15 for my ten year old is a bit too much for us at the current time, and with it being on TV, it at least allows me to watch the game, albeit not being the same as being there. I don’t blame the club for it, as clearly the demand is there to do it. I must say that allowing members to attend the derby for £30 on the Kop is a smart move. -
He was living in Papplewick the last I heard. Seen him in the bookies in Hucknall a couple of times. He’s a shareholder at UK Meds and owns a shed load of properties.

Frank Simek He was American.

I remember watching a night game on Sky and still managing to hear his voice.

For a couple of weeks in May 79 and 80 he probably supported Forest.

You had two crowds of 30k plus and 29k on the final game of the season. Hardly world beating is it.. You went into administration on September 22nd. The first home game following that news was against Reading, when less than 19k bothered to turn up. Derby exited administration on July 1st 2022, therefore that list contains all home games played within that period.

Potentially a -15 could still lead to promotion

Albeit with a strong team for that level, in 22/23 a 15 point deduction would have seen up drop from third to fourth. 70 points over 46 games and 15 point deduction would most likely see us safe. -

I noticed that last night on the Kop. Its been over two years since I sat on there for a night match and it definitely seemed a lot brighter whilst the game was on. -

“Your going down with the Wednesday” being sung by the home fans. -
Not watching the game but listening on the BBC website. All the commentators unanimously saying it was penalty, including ex Celt Pat Bonner.

Some people are just suited to certain football clubs. Martin O’Neill, despite being in his 70’s is one of them. He’ll bring some fire back into the squad.
-
I never got the obsession with either of them anyway.

I used to drink with a guy who was originally from Govan and grew up in Glasgow in the 70's. A real tough looking bloke with the scars to show. He ended up working all round the UK contracting and when I asked him what the roughest town he'd worked and drank in, his answer straight away was Gainsborough in the early 80's. It felt like a badge of honour at the time. He didn't know that I spent the first 30 years of my life there.

Don’t go back for Ange. A change of direction is needed. I wouldn’t mind the guy at Bodo/Glimt, who’s done wonders in Norway, but I also wouldn’t be disappointed with Craig Bellamy, who’s already well versed in having to make the best of what he’s got with the talent pool in Wales. McKenna, ten Hag and Solsjkaer all being linked too. Interesting times in regard what direction they turn, and for the boards sake, it has to be the right one as anything other than that will only increase the pressure on them.

Rolling back the years with O'Neill and Maloney as number two. Just need Balde, Mjallby, Valgaeren, Petrov, Sutton, Hartson and Larsson to complete the set.

Two and half years away from Hillsborough, and now I'm able to make the first two games following my self imposed exile. My daughter, who's ten absolutely loved it on Saturday and when I told her today that we can now afford to go again to a night game, she was so happy. That's what it's all about. If the next owner chooses to engage with the fans and care about what we say, then we'll be just fine. I don't expect 1991-1993 levels of success, although we can all hope. I just expect, and demand a club that's structured correctly and runs along with no drama, no late wage issues and no chairman telling fans to sell their house.- 280 replies

With all the news out of Hillsborough in the last few days, Hucknall Town have taken to the back burner slightly. But a great result for them at the weekend, winning 4-0 at Harrowby United. The UCL Premier North is shaping up nicely this season. Three points departing the top six, of which Hucknall are a part of. I can’t see them winning the league as some of the other clubs have both more established squads and pay a lot more in wages, but a shot at the play-offs has to be a realistic shout.
