BREAKING NEWS 🚨 Theo Corbeanu to leave SWFC
rawsheffield replied to Lodge Moor Owl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Wow! That kid, if utilised correctly, could've been this years version of what Michail Antonio did for us in 2012. Instead, that brain dead moron Moore, decided to waste the first 10 games of the season by trying to turn the winger into a wing back And, once he'd done this and the kid was playing well, inexplicably drop him again for the ineffective Shodipo or the unfit Mendez-Laing. The guy is ******** clueless and completely out of his depth. MOORE OUT!!!! -
Andy Giddins interview with DC
rawsheffield replied to morley's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
If anyone is left in any doubt as to the man's ability to effectively run a (our) football club, then just listen to this clip. Somebody above said the word 'dangerous'. Damn right. This man is a real and present danger to the long term continuity of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club as an entity. We need action now - and I welcomed the new Owls Trust statement yesterday as an open invitation to assist. But, if this falls on deaf ears (as I suspect it might), then we need to come together as a fanbase to find a solution that sees Chansiri leave our club. As I sit here typing this I don't know in what form this action might take, but I believe we should all be ready, willing and able to collectively fight for the continued existence of the club we love. -
The Chansiri ‘WTF moment’ thread
rawsheffield replied to SallyCinnamon's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I've been a long time critic of Chansiri pretty much from the time of the Bristol City pricing fiasco. But the most saddening thing of all throughout this sorry affair was to witness fellow Sheffield Wednesday fans calling other fans out about not 'contributing' to 'the cause' as they refused to ante up either for overpriced multi year season tickets or for ridiculous POTG prices. The vitriol that was cast down on these individuals from so-called fellow supporters was belittling and sickening to witness. And behind the scenes you had the chairman whipping up these fanatics with numerous hair-brained schemes designed to squeeze every last penny from the average supporter in the street. Cheered on by the baying mob of happy clappers. What Chansiri has done to this club is shameful - but there is a bunch of 'supporters' who slavishly followed his lead (you know who you are) who in my eyes are equally culpable for our current situation.- 216 replies

I'd personally drive DC back to Thailand myself. He's been an unmitigated disaster for the club and the sooner he's gone the better.

And that's even assuming that the results of the survey were actually the 'real' results of the survey The guy is a total fraud I'm afraid.

Lasted until the following season where they moved the away fans into Lep Upper. -

Watch at 1:32 and you'll see netting over seats in North separating fans. -

Oh...OK, let's forget it then and carry on as we are. Because all is completely well at S6. If we carry on doing nothing or carry on as we are, we genuinely risk becoming the 2nd club in Sheffield within the next 5 years - and that would be almost impossible to turn back around. -

The Cantilever was used by away fans after the Hillsborough disaster. They were positioned at the Lep end with Wednesdayites in the Kop end. Very simple to implement. -

I'm unsure whether it would bring in more money looking at it purely from a 'gate receipts' perspective. But... Imagine the boost to the community if it was fully re-engaged... Imagine more bums on seats creating a better atmosphere and general feeling around the club... Imagine if those extra bums on seats visit the club shop, buy a pint (or two halves ), or a chip butty... Imagine the kids at £99 for the season, students at £150 per season with the thought that these people may become long term fans who in turn encourage other family members to join them at games because "the atmosphere is good and it's reasonably priced"... Imagine deciding to go to the game at the last minute and not having to trawl through the internet to find and understand the cost and upon finding the cost deciding you can't afford to remortgage the house again. Do you know what, if all of the above started to happen then YES we would make as much revenue as we currently do while charging £40 and pricing out our fan base. This club need to get back to its community roots very quickly or the long term damage will be completely irretrievable. -

Really...it is a simple enough equation to solve it just takes Chansiri to admit he's got it wrong the last 5 years (which will never happen). Matchday Prices £25 Kop £25 Lep (for home fans) Lower Lep given to community sources for each game. £30 South £30 North (with away fans at the Lep end) £5 discount for members. Membership £30 per year. Season Tickets Kop/Lep £350 North/South £450 Kids £99 Students £150 Simple and easy to understand. Gets our fans behind both goals. Solves the issue with North Stand entrance and exit as away fans get exclusive use of the gates on the Lep side. -
Hang on...surely all the ST holders are going to this one? Especially those righteous ones who call out the POTG fans who can't afford to tip up £40 to watch a league game?? They won't be watching it on the Tele surely??
-
That groundswill (sic - you meant groundswell) is pretty abundant this morning wouldn't you say?? Still...the play off final was reight good innit.
-
And there we have it. Part of the problem right there. Maybe you'll be happy rattling around S6 with several thousand die-hards in a few years stating "by eck, remember those so-called fans who wanted cheaper tickets, I'm glad we got rid of them, lots easier to get to the bar at half time and to stretch our legs". Disgusting.
-
Season tickets are only value for money if you can guarantee going to the vast majority of the games. Once you start to miss games, and midweek games are prime example for me personally with work, then the value for money aspect becomes less and less so. Another thing, the only reason people state that Season tickets deliver value for money is because they are basing it against the abhorrent costs for attending matches POTG. Anything around £600 for a ST would seem value for money when compared against 23 x £35 (£35 being a rough average for POTG non-member) which totals £805. Some blue sky thinking is required as well as engagement with the fan base. It really is not that difficult if at the very least you are willing to admit you got it wrong the first time around - it's just a shame we have a mega-lo-maniac as a chairman!
-
Yeah forgot about them Point still stands there is plenty of room for them at the West side of the South stand. There is just no joined up thinking coming from the club whatsoever, in whichever capacity you might care to mention - football, marketing, retail, development, engagement. My 80 year old Grandma is better at social media than SWFC.
-
No flies on you pal! The fact you think you can justify the continued high prices, fan alienation and downright ripping off of your fellow supporters by spouting that we all paid "Wembley prices"...Of course we feckin did! We've only been to Wembley once since 1993 - we might not be going again for another 20 years so of course this can be viewed as a one-off game where prices become largely immaterial.
-
Just stating fact - if you wanna trawl through my past posts they are largely bemoaning the fact that we are ripping off our own fans and taking their support for granted - and may I point out I'm not the only one that's ever said this. It's just that now there is a growing groundswell of opinion that matches mine and the time is right to demand some sort of action against it. Face the facts, we are a mid-table division 2 team and have been for 20 years (give or take flirtations with the 3rd division). On the back of the astronomic price rises back in 2015 we were promised champagne football and to be challenging at the right end of the table. For the last 3 years we've been closer to relegation than promotion and have seen zero proper investment in the playing squad since the ill-fated Rhodes transfer. Yet, we are still paying the highest prices in the division while watching some absolutely turgid stuff. We are losing a generation of football fans who have access at their fingertips to all games played by top clubs while we continue to charge £40 to watch Atdhe Nuhiu (note: I could have inserted any number of player names here). We should have the best Football in the Community scheme, the most inclusive student scheme, the best family packages available, because we have a half empty stadium to fill. But do we engage in any of this? Why isn't the Lower Lep given away to schoolkids like it used to in the 90's - you never know 1 or 2 might get the bug. There is zero thinking outside the box or attempts at fan engagement - our social media is a joke. The whole club needs a bloody good shakedown and unless the reigns are released by Chansiri then I'm afraid it might wither away and die.
-
Nowhere in my post did I say that. But come one... the tone on here even going wayyyyyy back to 2015 was that as long as some people could afford the prices and attend games regardless of price - then to hell with the rest of the fan base. That is the behaviour and thinking that has to stop immediately. if only we had a representative fan group that could comment on club decisions and hold them to account every now and again when deemed necessary?!
-
Well well well...Seems like the penny is finally dropping for some. The 'Chansiri Model' of pricing for tickets is not sustainable for continued growth of attendances. I've only been spouting this since the first pricing template was launched by Chansiri prior to the Bristol City game back in 2015. You can only ever get away with prohibitively high ticket prices if the product on the pitch is sufficiently good enough for the paying public to acknowledge the correlation between cost and product. As soon as this is eroded then expect attendances to fall, apathy to set in, and a runaway train of dipping attendances until one of either two things happen... 1) The product on the pitch significantly improves to make it appear that throwing £40 on a 2nd division game is worthwhile, or... 2) The real genuine initiative to lower prices coupled with a determined drive to re-engage with lost fans is comprehensively delivered by the club hierarchy. For No.1 to happen that would mean a complete reversal of what we've had to endure for the last 3 years. And for No.2 to happen would be for Chansiri to admit he was wrong and to re-stratagise and re-engage with the fan base. No.1 would realistically take 2-3 years seeing as a complete squad re-build is required. No.2 can be done tomorrow. Rest assured that if nothing changes, then the only people still attending S6 on a regular basis will be the "I'm alright jacks" who are happy to watch 'Rome' burn while taking the moral high ground.

First of all, this isn't a dig at the Club on tickets (as I've often been opinionated about ticket prices etc) but I think the process on distribution of tickets has been somewhat forced onto us by the FA/Football League. And there can be no perfect scenario, someone is always going to be upset by a set of circumstances no matter what happens. Anyway, I've been taking my nephew to games for the past couple of years and now he is a dyed in the wool proper little Wednesdayite. But I've been taking him on my ID number. So while I've got more than enough points to easily get myself a ticket I'm now worried that I won't be able to get his ticket. It gets more complicated...even if I do get my ticket and then join the scramble for general sale tickets to get him one, we won't be sat together...now you don't need to tell me that I can't let a 10 year old sit on his own with 90,000 other people. And as this season progressed and it got more likely we would be in the Play-Offs I promised him I'd take him. I'm in a proper quandary! If anyone has two IDs spare so that we can sit together I would be forever appreciative and I would donate £20 to a charity of their choosing. Thanks for reading.

We were discussing in the pub afterwards whether the atmosphere was better than Kaiserslauten...we were split as a group and couldn't get a definitive answer. But for me the big difference was the Kaiserslauten atmosphere was one bred on anger, resentment, a sense of wrong doing (due to the penalty and Hirstys sending off in the 1st leg). Last nights was one of self belief and realisation that we are most definitley 'on our way back' after so many years of hurt. It was a real S6 love in where team, fans, boardroom, club were all as one as the great behemoth that is Sheffield Wednesday Football Club announced itself as re-born. For me, it was the best atmosphere I have ever been involved in and at times brought tears to my eyes just through sheer emotion. We should never, ever, leave Hillsborough.

You've changed your tune Nigel. We were having a twitter debate on prices less than a month ago and you argued that Chansiri was correct in his pricing strategy. What's made you change?
-
Look, certain people will dress this up to suit their own agendas. I thought it was a poor move by the club to put these on sale with such a short window and straight after Christmas. I genuinely can't see what the club has achieved by doing this. Yet another P R disaster.

So........ It wasn't 18k then??!? Surprise surprise.
