If prospective new owners are thinking big then the stadium needs to be down the parkway or just off it (sadly). There’s no truly multipurpose stadium in the north midlands/yorkshire and access will be crucial.

I agree with this (mainly) - as you’ll know being in the States, many of the baseball stadiums are retro and asymmetrical. Whether it’s redeveloping Hillsborough or moving to a new site, I think the stadium should look like an old school stadium, with interesting stands, but modern facilities. Away fans love that Hillsborough is a proper football stadium (just not that its so antiquated) so we’d be unique in developing something that maintained that vibe.

A lot of self-projection going on as to what the definition of being a fan is! In reality it’s a sliding scale, with the casual fan who watches at home at one end and those that will go to every game, home and away, at the other. We need to shift everyone up the scale - people have been naturally been slipping down due to the shocking ownership over the last 25 years and the resultant poor performance on the pitch. It’s going to take time. And once we’re pushing for the Champions League people will be moaning about the “Johnny come latelys”!!!

I can’t remember the circumstances but did their admin get rid of a terrible and despised owner or did they just use it as a mechanism to carry on but without the debt? And how long between admin and them achieving the things you mention?

An ambitious owner would level the West stand asap whilst we’re in League One, to reflect lower away support that we’ll get (apart from United and Norwich!!!) and benefit from when we go back up.

I agree. Hillsborough looked fantastic on Wednesday night (in terms of scale and variety of stands). I’d favour a stand by stand approach, starting with the West. I’d replicate what we have now, so that it maintains our heritage ie a nod to us having the largest cantilever at the time, a big kop as the home-end. And could the north and south be “swapped” to allow the building of a new stand that incorporates the changing facilities, offices etc and build into the current car park, whilst allowing us to continue using the south stand facilities. I also think a separate store/ticket office on the other side of Penistone Road would give us more flexibility too. All subject to the engineering/utilities feasibility, which I think is the difficulty with regenerating the current site. Oh, and cost!

Agree with this. So much history associated with the club. Could include a “hall of fame” where we recognised the legends over the years. Whilst Bannan and Palmer have been great servants we’ve had better players, who deserve to be recognised. I know an archivist if the club needs one to sift through its attic!

@Nedman can you do the calculations again but not count season ticket holders, as their money has already been banked? rough estimate of 18,000 season tickets 22,000 of which 4,000 paying £30 = £120k 28,000 of which 10,000 paying £20k = £200k as RRN has also pointed out!

I don’t disagree with this but the band didn’t solve this last night during that quiet spell. I still think we need to sack them off and start over, building an atmosphere. We have some positivity around the place now that we need to take advantage of.

I was so disappointed to find the band were still there. The atmosphere was great for the first 20 mins, not least cos Bannon got off us off to a flyer. It didn’t need the band to create that atmosphere. The crowd was flat at the beginning of the second half cos the team came out on the back foot and let Norwich control the game. They’re out of time, out of tune and out of ideas. Many times they ignored the chants that people were starting and trampled over them, killing the spontaneity. They’re a relic of a different time and need to go. There’s something quite narcissistic about thinking you’re the reason for the atmosphere. Get rid and let fans get back into the habit of starting chants (plenty of people away from the band were trying last night). It may take time but we’ll be better off for it.
