I’ve thought that the fit and proper test or commitment should include a financial bond the owner lodges with the authorities. When in this case the EFL impose sanctions, they should be hitting the owner in the pocket and not penalising the club, players and supporters who have no say in what strategies the owner and or board make. Why deduct points and embargo deals when the supporters and club employees have not had any responsibility for foolish decisions?
The current football governance, if it exists at all, is feudal at best. Keep the serfs down is the motto and whether the new regulators will be given real teeth or just badly fitting dentures remains to be seen. Not much help for our current plight though.
