  1. All Arsenal related for me. 1. Hirst being done by Bould 2. Merson celebrating after the League Cup Final 3. FA cup replay 4. Di Canio when Keown escalated the whole incident then had his red card rescinded. I believe 1, 3 and 4 had long term effects on the club and particularly losing the FA Cup. Had we won we were in the Cup Winners Cup which Arsenal then won and I don’t see any reason why we wouldn’t have too. From there the knock on effect is enormous. Also coming out of Wembley in the rain that Thursday night only to face this old hag Arsenal fan tell us ‘it’s a long way home when you’ve lost’ before she got on a bus for two stops stuck in the craw. Don’t think I have ever recovered from that evening.
  2. One moment that stands out for me that I still watch every now and again on YouTube was a game against Arsenal at Hillsborough in November 1991 where we drew 1-1. Hirst scored after Seaman saved a Sheridan free kick and Bould equalised for Arsenal. The moment I remember though is in the 2nd half and Palmer wins the ball back near our 18 yard box in front of the Leppings Lane end, gives it Sheridan and we break at 100mph in front of the North Stand before Hirst is played in in the inside left position and he rockets a shot past Seaman and back of the near post. The frame of the goal shaking as the ball bounces out about 30 yards. It would have been my favourite goal had it flown in
  3. Shirtliff free kick on the halfway line on South Stand side, long diagonal into the box, Hirst headed across the box, Palmer knocked it down and Wilson volleyed it in. Beautiful
  4. I always wished that Bywater had been in goal against Leeds that time when one of their ‘fans’ came on the pitch and attacked Kirkland.
  5. Yeah I fully agree, that was my favourite Hirst goal too. Palmer wining it back, Worthington whipping it across, Hirst getting between Bruce and Pallister and giving Schmeichel no chance. Man U were unbeaten and top of the league at the point too.
  6. Remember seeing Sheffield Wednesday credited in his first album. Couldn’t work out why though.
  7. Yeah it was a real shame about Ryan Jones, he only played for about 3 years. I think he started most games he appeared in and it was clear he had something about him as we had a good team then and he was making a difference when he played. Great first touch, used the ball well and had the ability to score and setup goals. Brave too, remember seeing him stretchered of twice for getting his head kicked off while going for diving headers (one against the Blades in front of the kop). Thought he would be Palmer's successor but unfortunately finished at 21.
  8. Outed on my first post!
  9. Been reading this site for years but finally got round to joining. Hello all. Anyhow in a bid to lighten the mood around our current plight I have been messing around with AI. It blows my mind how quickly it can fairly accurately summarise a situation. So to the tune of Bohemian Rhapsody: “Wednesday Rhapsody” Parody lyrics about Sheffield Wednesday FC Is this the real life? Or just a League One slide? Caught in a nightmare, No hope in Hillsborough’s pride. Open your eyes, Look up to the skies and cry— I’m just a young boss, I need some backing— But it’s easy come, Chansiri goes, High hopes fade, budget’s low, Any way the cash flows, Doesn’t seem to matter… To him… at all… [Verse 1 – Röhl’s Lament] Danny just got the call, Took the reins and gave his all, Built belief from near a fall. Danny, ooh— But now he wants away, ’Cause the chairman’s got no plan for tomorrow… Carry on, carry on— As if structure never mattered… [Verse 2 – Fans Speak] Too late, the debts have come, Wages can’t be paid on time, Now we’re asked to drop a dime. Goodbye, Hillsborough pride— You were built for more than this— Now we’re sending love letters To some Saudi prince… [Operatic Section – Chaos & Sarcasm] (Choir of fans) We want a takeover! We want a takeover! Will no rich folks come to Owlsborough? (Chansiri) “I won’t sell to liars!” (Fans) “You’re the denier!” (Röhl) “Let me gooooo!” I’m just a coach, please let me be free! (Fans) He’s just a coach with no budget, you see! Spare him the shame of this tragedy! (Fans, faster) Easy come, easy go—where’s the ambition though? (Chansiri) Ask the fans for money! (Fans) We said noooo, we won’t give dough! (Chansiri) Ask the fans for money! (Fans) We said noooo, it’s not our role! (All) WE! JUST! WANT! CONTROL!!! [Guitar Solo Break] (Epic Brian May-style riff echoing through the empty stands of Hillsborough) [Hard Rock Section – The Rebellion] So you think you can run us and still let us die?! So you think you can gaslight the club while we cry?! Ohhhh, Chansiri— Can’t do this to us, Chansiri— Just gotta get out—just gotta get right outta here! [Outro – Slow fade] (Oooooh, Owls fans know…) Nothing really matters, Only the club’s soul… Nothing really matters— Not your ego, or control… (Soft piano) Any way the trust blows… (wind noise fades into echoing chants of “We want Chansiri out…”)
