  1. People are quick to forget we've lost and not replaced from last year (where we hardly had a brilliant squad). Beadle, Gassama, Charles, Cissoko, Musaba, Famewo, Hatsuse, Valentin, Paterson, Windass, Ihiekwe, Smith, Armstrong, Johnson
  2. Is this ok? I'm not trying to be a boring b*stard. But why do we keep taking photos of people and debating, zooming in, comparing, laughing at them? Sound like I'm in the witness protection programme or something, but just feels a bit off to me. Last match there was the photo of sy-with-a-y-mon doing the rounds repeatedly and i dont know it felt a bit 'invasion of privacy'. He has a public profile and chooses when he does videos/podcasts or doesn't. Don't know. Thinking out loud
  3. To all the Ugbo haters, believe in Henrik, hes picked the team and subs and is giving the instructions, there's a reason hes done that! Get behind the boys! Come on Wednesday
  4. I don't know of any site or space in Sheffield to build a new stadium on. (And I'm sure there's plenty of work that could be done at Hillsborough to make it more fit for purpose so not sure we need to be looking to move immediately). But on "near Meadowhall". We already get stick and jibes about being in 'South Barnsley' which is of course ridiculous but the idea of moving from S6 to S9 seems to move us further away from the city of Sheffield. Meadowhalls a bit near the Rotherham border! (Closer than Hillsborough is to Barnsley for sure)
  5. I'm usually the first to get mardy and one of the mardiest at the people in/close to our fan base who have knowingly exaggerated/manipulated/lied for their own personal gain / whatever they get from it. But assuming someone other than the waltons takes us over, we'll never "know" they werent in for us. They arent going to put out a statement saying we tried and failed to buy swfc. So the people who claimed or heard they are/were in for us, will never be 'outed' or confirmed as liars. As you say. Individuals can look at themselves and they'll know if they're a cretin or not. The rest of us should be much more focused on supporting the new owners (whoever that turns out to be), supporting the team, and getting excited about a new era (rather than holding onto anger or disappointment over 1 or 2 individuals who might have tried to exploit a situation)

  7. Doesn't your second sentence contradict your first sentence?
  8. Admin are saying everyone interested has enough money. Many with "game changing wealth". You've got to be confident they'll have a plan. (And admin wouldn't pick someone with no plan if there are proper players at the table). I dont think there will be anything to be unhappy about will there? And thats without even thinking about the low bar they'll be judged against. Not hard to do better than our last owner is it?
  9. Poor statement (in my opinion) My interpretation of it is "dont blame us (for stopping the trams), theres a few yobbos who spoil it for everyone else, and despite it only being a few scumbags we dont have enough police to sort it out so yobs need to stop being yob-ish. Ps we'll lose £10k so feel sorry for us"
  10. What a sensible and reasonable post Out of interest what happened in his last few weeks (I must have missed it at the time and Google isnt helping) I'm assuming downing of tools and lack of effort but you know what they say about assumptions
  11. If you'd been doing your job for a few years and your boss said you need to take a 75% pay cut to stay working here (or you could go somewhere else, do the same job and stay on roughly your current salary) what would you choose? The fact he offered to half his pay to stay with us is mad. Listening to him describe it in his words and how much he loved it here was interesting for me anyway
  12. Talking on the fozcast - Barry Bannan best player he played with. - Loved Wednesday and Sheffield. - He offered to take a 50% pay cut to re-sign with us, DC said no and wanted him to take a 75% cut. -Bit on Jos Lukuhay not knowing how the Championship worked. Well worth a listen
  13. I got shouted down last time I said this but comparing Sheffield and Birmingham is silly. Birmingham has a population of over 2million people. Sheffield 500k. Birmingham is a hub of business and entertainment and tourists even go there. Birmingham is better connected to most of the UK by rail. Birmingham also has an international airport. I'm not saying anything about Birmingham City FC vs Sheffield Wednesday FC. But the potential in terms of the cities? Birminghams miles and miles ahead.
  14. Was just thinking about Sheffield council in this. Its in Sheffield councils best interests that it has large successful (preferably Premier League, even Champions League, dreaming big) football. If SWFC could get taken over by the right people this could be the aim (European football) attracting visitors from Ajax, Dortmund, Marseille, Madrid, Milan, wherever... Cancelling the tram on a matchday does nothing to increase the interest of prospective buyers. Infact prospective buyers have just added another 'con' to the list in terms of another barrier/hurdle to overcome. Shame that whoever the decision makers were couldn't see the bigger picture and try a bit harder to show that we do have the infrastructure ready.
  15. Agree And really limits the conversation. The idea seems to be we can either stay where we are and that ensures we keep a soul. Or we have to move away, sell our soul to allow modern and good facilities. Very binary
  16. Is it? Genuinely interested. Don't think I've seen many posts on here about parking or m1? Many more posts about the stadium being out of date, unable to attract any other revenue to make the club money outside of match day, issues with small concourses, lack of spaces for [good quality] conferences/training/events (parking may be part of that?). I'm not nailed on either way by the way, like whether we stay and up date hillsborough or move to a new stadium at some point. I've never driven to a match day though, maybe if I did I'd feel differently and want it to be on a massive car park just off the motorway
  17. Think this is true. There's been the end of an awful regime for swfc. In come administrators have been open, honest, communicative. A breath of fresh air. They've said there are interested parties with transformational levels of wealth. They've said it'll now be radio silence while they do what they need to so to sell the club. It's safe to say the next owners will be better than the last. Fans want news (of course we do) but the people who could give it us are saying it'll be quiet. Therefore the 'noise' will be "(not really) ITK" and "looking for clicks" kinds of stuff. Some people will want to speculate on that, others will want to pick it apart. I'm trying to ignore it for a couple weeks and remain patient. We all know the criteria we have for our new owners: -Enough money (tick, admin wont sell us to anyone without the funds) -Will pass the IFR and EFL tests to be a 'good owner' (tick, wont be sold to anyone not able to pass) -A plan on how to run us well, this will vary, an American with links to sports might take a different approach to a UK person who's been involved in football, some plans might prioritise player trading, some might prioritise merchandise and raising the 'profile', some might prioritise local community and infrastructure. (Tick they'll have a plan) But we wont know the plan until we're taken over and the new owner(s) tell us...
  18. The % discount seems appropriate to the pricing of each stand. As in the Kop has the lowest ticket price, and the discount applied to Kop tickets is also higher (I assume to the same % difference, or thereabouts). So people who choose to sit on South are happy to pay 9%-12.5% more for their tickets. So the amount they get discounted also reflects that? It's an incredibly fair and responsible way to do it. Feel free to do the math and tell me you're still being potentially shafted by 12p or something though Excellent initiative as most have said on here.
  19. Opinions are like aholes, everyone's got one. Every topic there's debate, it'd be boring if we all felt the same. Stay at Hillsborough vs leave. Play 3 at the back or 4 at the back. Sign Italian wonderkid striker or French in their peak defender. Its all part of the fun isnt it. Safe to say, whatever happens, it'll be better than the last 10 (11 in january) years!
  20. Honestly I think somethings are lost in communication. Today's example was banter from @Deluded Owl saying cue the negative nancies if Waltons are announced and people being negative about it, @Daveyboy66 added (funnily) that he'd complain about the billions being wasted in league one. I flipped it and said all the negativity that would come if we didnt get the waltons. Its just harmless fun poking other fans who may be of a different opinion. I'm sorry if you took offence. I can certainly take the pokes back and i regularly do on here, i post things with a smile on my face, definitely not all sour or sad about it. Like I said. Attempt at banter. Apologies if that doesn't come through and youre imagining me being some nasty troll in a dark corner on my own
  21. It's just banter mate, there's no right or wrong way to feel or think about things.
  22. In the same way if the 'best we get' is a Mike Ashley type, cue the meltdown, wanting to start up protests or a phoenix club because he 'isnt a Walton' and a negative spin on that
  23. Its not just the wealth is it. I dont think we can turn our noses up at a UK billionaire who has experience of owning a football club. There might be richer, or, more ambitious interested parties. But will they know what they're doing? Do they have any contacts? Can they plan and hold people to account? If some anonymous billionaire not connected to sports was the name announced I'd feel a bit worried. DC was son of a rich man, no previous football experience, no clue. But bought a club. Doing that again with a billionaire not a millionaire doesn't excite me!
  24. Absolutely crazy when he says they've been "convincing beer and food suppliers to give us more preduce to sell, even though they haven't been paid for a few months and aren't going to get all that money back" (because as creditors they'll have to take just pennies from each pound owed). Fair play that they did because the ability for swfc to sell sell sell and make money as well as the atmosphere of 'returning to normal' with plenty of bovril and beer was made possible by companies who we're in debt to, and because of going into admin we won't ever pay our full debt back to
