I was having a look at the table this time last season. The teams in the play-offs and down in the relegation places had more points last season than this year. I’d assume we’re seeing a lot more draws this season, meaning fewer points overall. People say the leagues not as good but you could argue it’s more competitive. For us (pretending there’s not a points deduction coming) I think that’s a good thing. For United you could look it either way, on one hand if they put a decent run together they’ll fly up the table, on the other hand it’s going to be a congested table with a lot of teams, already a fair few points ahead of them, capable of getting top 6. I’d fully expect Ipswich, Southampton and Wrexham to kick on from here for example.
