The fact both anonymous callers were able to articulate their sheer frustration and emotions in a very calm way was excellent IMO. They both represented the feelings of thousands of us and whilst it's a shame more folk did not join them on the pitch, I am pleased they faced no repurcussions and that (some) stewards, players and fellow fans were supportive of their actions.

Yes, but they have one Sky Sports + channel on the Sky planner now, channel 404. They use it to show an extra EFL 12.30pm game and tomorrow it's us.

Owls V Coventry next. How do we handle them?
gtownowl replied to 1952Owl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Rudoni has turned into one of the best players in the division. Hopefully he's still out injured on Saturday -
You just have to go on the concourse in the middle of any 1st or 2nd half of an away game to see dozens of Wednesday fans supping fresh pints as they are oblivious to the actual game going on up the stairs. Seems utterly baffling to me, but the allure of a few pints of lukewarm 7 quid Carling is just too tempting....

Absolutely loved the man.

Can't think of a championship player more suited to the Wrexham environment than Windass. Good luck to him, gave us some great times.

Elite defender with unreal consistency for us. Literally never saw anyone beat him for years on end. Minimal fuss, just got on with being brilliant week after week. Never heard him interviewed once in the 7 years he played for us.

Chris Kirkland death threats and armed police
gtownowl replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Let's not forget this period was also Warnock in his "absolute wank3r of the highest order" era. Easily forgotten now he is everyone's favourite jovial friendly ex-manager. I despised him and this is just one example why. -
No matter what happens in his career I cannot see Shea Charles ever signing for Sheffield United. Mark McGuinness we are all still very, very disappointed.

If you are currently boycotting shirts, merch, drinks, food, matchday tickets or Carabao cup games then I think you have every right to be annoyed in November/ December if people rock up and hand over £500+ to Chansiri regardless of what it's for.
-
They must be. Stop paying your mortgage today and you'll still be living in your house next week. 9 months time though, I'm not so sure.....
-
There is literally zero point to the current boycotts if existing ST holders just stump up £500 each as usual in December. It IS a huge sacrifice and very very different to staying away from Grimsby in the league cup. But it would cost him £8-10 million if people refused. That would seriously have the b'stard on the ropes......

We are lucky to have Pederson in charge right now IMHO. A man manager who seems pretty astute tactically. 100% buy in from the squad and (obviously) the young players love him, giving them all a chance (regardless of whether he has a choice or not!). Knows the club, seems to love it, despite the sh1tshow. I hope we as fans continue to back him and sing his name even if we struggle to pick up points. Really is a thankless task. As Chris Powell said on Sky he needs help. Desperately. HP has my full support if we end up rock bottom this season.

Official ’Have they been paid yet?’ Thread

Let's brace ourselves for the earliest ever early bird season ticket sales window. I'm going for November. -
Worth remembering that every single unsold ticket, pie, pint, shirt, or any other piece of poo MEGAST merch, hurts him. We don't get the immediate dopamine hit of , say, throwing eggs at his car, but every unspent pound is working. We are individuals but multiply it by potentially 30,000 likeminded folk and £100 not spent suddenly becomes £3 million. It's a long game, hang in there.
-
The strongest action isn't always immediately visible or immediate. EVERYBODY knows the "hit them in the pocket" mantra eventually works. It takes time though. Look at Brewdog. Might have taken a few years but customers have voted with their wallets and they are on their ar5e.

To the fans criticising the fans that did go
gtownowl replied to the golden bullen's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
This is a brilliant question - I don't think there have been any answers to it? -
Many of the fan groups seem to think this is similar to a HR complaint in the workplace i.e. "You have to go through the correct channels and remain professional at all times..." When it is actually a clear and direct threat to the existence of our club, there are no channels and no need to remain "professional". Nobody said this would be pretty. We have to do what is necessary. I just want to give them a shake and tell them to wake up.

He has never made ANY attempt to get the fans on side. Never made any attempt to understand English football, never mind Sheffield as a city. Turns up when we have bit of joy on the pitch then disappears when it's hard. Never made anything more than a token obligated attempt at engagement. No real investment - every single penny he's ever spent on anything is worthless - no investment in facilities, kids, brand, players, staff, ground. 10 years later and he's still absolutely clueless about his "customer" base. Has thought all along his cash gave him licence to lord it over all the fans who make the club what it is. Talking about respect when showing none himself. Typical bully, now he's on the back foot he is all over the place.

Charles bids from Rangers and West Ham

1 million? -
No reason we are not competitive tonight. Bolton are likely to make wholesale changes so it could be a lot more 50/50 than people imagine - especially with the serious motivation our boys will have.

I trash Sky Sports for much of their terrible Premier League coverage which is often so bad it's unwatchable. But their coverage of the EFL is fantastic. Better presenters (Prutton, Michelle Owen, Julian Warren). Better commentators (Gary Weaver, Daniel Mann). Better pitchside reporting (David Craig is a different level to that annoying Patrick Davison they use in the Premier League). Better pundits - they find different ones as well as having Clinton Morrison, McAnuff etc who all know their stuff. Yesterday was superb. Even though it was a home game for Leicester and a relegated Premier League team, it was basically the Sheffield Wednesday show. Loads of information about the issues, loads of praise for the protests and the fans. Loads of criticism of the owner. Really good

Textor interest CONFIRMED but…
gtownowl replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Promising...... Credit to the journalist picking up the phone and at last getting some info straight from the source -
I commented on this a bit last season. When you get in the ground have a look around and try to find the nearest copper. There aren't any. Loads of stewards but no actual policeman. I don't think he's been paying for police in ground for quite a while. Then you get incidents where you need police, like that numbskull who tried to fight stewards with a corner flag but backed himself into the goal net.

North Stand: 6 of the 18 steel trusses need action
gtownowl replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I know it's easy for me to say as I pay-as-you-go on tickets, but north stand ST holders should definitely be requesting a refund. They have been sold a product/service which cannot be fulfilled. With this moronic owner, and the poor state of finances, I call bullsh1t on the work being 6 weeks and would not be expecting the north to re-open until after Christmas.
