  1. I really don’t think this matters. For the first time in my 40 years watching, the results on the pitch aren’t the most important thing and even less so, the music afterwards
  2. I’d back the players to decide whatever is best for them. Five out of seven months now. For even stepping on the pitch, they have my admiration.
  3. Wasn’t there, nothing but admiration for those that stepped on the pitch. The crowd behind them, protests and confidence will step up
  4. WUMs. Though I did sadly see him scores for Vale in a 3-2 home defeat over Christmas (2003?)
  5. I’ve had a quick trawl on our results that season. Fewer than two goals per game and only 39 League goals scored, just 17 away. Most of which seemed to fall in the last four or five matches. I don’t get out much, My record would be similar, though I did see THAT Simek goal. An apt summary of our attacking prowess that season.
  6. I’m not sure anything can compete with Linighan in 93. I had an usually confident feeling we would win on pens. As for regular games, going 3-1 up at Derby in injury time and contriving to draw. Blowing a 2-0 lead at Swindon with eleven minutes to go and losing 3-2 in the pouring rain on the open end for a night match. Oh, and 4-1 at Gillingham in the cup in the coldest gane ever.
  7. Focus on the vast, vast majority that didn’t go. Tonight has been a success on all levels
  8. Agree, I think we are saying the same thing and perhaps I didn’t articulate well enough. Only that you will always get a minority that have a different view to a greater or lesser extent and that’s life…let’s build on the energy and momentum of the majority
  9. Love this sentiment. The reality is that everyone is going to have their own view about how to best go about it - and like it or not, that’s rightfully every individual’s choice. The poster who outlined what happened at Blackpool was a real eye-opener. The more together we are the better. As others have said, focus on how many people don’t buy the shirts or boycott the L**ds gane, rather than worry about the few that do, I feel we have the momentum, I really do. I think (and hope) we will have similar support and generosity from nearly every away club that Leicester and Wrexham have shown so far.
  10. I’m pleased they’ve come out with this. I’m disappointed it’s taken so long and feels like it’s only the very recent wider national media coverage and political coverage that has provided the catalyst to up their game. The work of the Trust and the brilliant local journalists was more than enough to release this statement a couple of months ago.
  11. Thoughtful and kind words, thank you. The sentiments you’ve expressed is what football is all about
  12. This is very sadly, highly likely to be correct
  13. Literally every day is worse than the day before. I don’t believe anyone can tell me cogently otherwise
  14. Yes, was Martin Clunes’ character talking about a rowdy bunch of Wednesday fans on the tube
  15. Couldn’t agree more. With honourable exceptions, the lack of attention is dreadful. The fact that subs being interviewed in PL matches next season garners far more attention tells you a lot about where football now is.
  16. Whilst I don’t think it is the most likely scenario, it feels like a possibility. Frightening. Every day feels like a doom cycle of news. I’m struggling to get my head round everything that surrounds the club atm. Biggest thoughts go to all staff at the club.
  17. Agree. Never been uninterested in the fixture releases until now. Desperately sad situation and have no enthusiasm for next season. That could change quickly and we can but hope.
  18. Charles for me…a PL player in waiting Bannan remains outstanding and we will only truly realise how brilliant he is when he is gone. Gas and Lowe very good seasons.
  19. Binary and hypothetical as it is, there is surely no question that Ashley is a better option than Chansiri on any metric
  20. Hugely disappointing, always felt Cov had our number that day. Best support I’ve ever seen from an away side at Hillsborough, about 14k IIRC
  21. Astonishing. Bannan will be (rightly) eulogised in years to come when he hangs his boots up. Enjoy every minute while we have him.
  22. Fair enough, Wynyard. Albeit I don’t agree. Francis was far from a great, but that team was exceptional and Francis bought some outstanding players that were pivotal (Waddle, Warhurst). I would put it far more on his two successors.
  23. I find this at odds with your attitude towards hyperbole. Yes, Francis was no Atkinson, but the teams of 91-93 were even better than Big Ron’s 90-91 team. To say that a manager who had us finishing third (our best for thirty years) and get to two cup finals and describe him as “truly awful” is baffling.
  24. Long-rangers, they are the ones I’ll always replay… Harkes at Derby Brunt at L**ds Tudgay at the Lane oh, and funny ones… Dryden og playing for Luton 89 Simek at Millwall
