With you mostly-but feel I need to point out we played at the Lane 89/90 pre season friendly (so July/Aug 1989), 0-0 draw Carlton sent off for kicking Booker, first time I saw Dalian …in the context of Mix Tape, it being a preseason friendly also explains why Owls fans walked into turnstiles without being hit or spat at / abused….bit pedantic, but justifies the script…don’t think the writers considered this as much as I have …. I also bored my wife senseless when we watched this last night…I’ll watch the rest now!!!

Pick 3 best Wednesday Signings
Thorpeowl replied to MallorcaOwl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Personal favourite-Dalian (RIP) Ignoring personal preference, it’s Waddle, Nilsson, Sheridan, Palmer, Hirst-God, I was lucky to be 20…Terry Curran & Lawrie Madden run these close, but different level I think… -
points deduction/ relegation

PAYE/NI is due 20th-22nd monthly, VAT (assuming quarterly) will be due 7th May…suspect we’re going to have issues later this month… -
Quality man, quality manager-such a missed opportunity…big shame & big heartbreak if/when he leaves this summer…will be so happy for him when he lifts the Champions league with Bayern in 5 years… Different level, but similar emotion-so happy for DM today winning at Walsall-a manager who brought dignity & class back to our club after so many years of crap (which is no doubt what we have to come now!)

Owls v Hull City Matchday Thread

Bit like Wilder’s Hull brother rant-Housemartins fan by any chance ?!? but actually some fair comments made..ownership issues really screw us real fans don’t they !!! -
Owls v Hull City Matchday Thread
Thorpeowl replied to Holmowl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Gutted…Actually deserved to win…poor first 20, but no lack of effort there, just a lack of quality where it really matters-story of the season unfortunately…2 big late saves from their keeper, & to be fair a great header after a pretty good 2nd half from us…ruined another weekend !!! Love this club, always have, always will-just wish we would all pull together now -
Thanks mate-yes, forgot about the rugby-found a couple of sports bars so will see what can be done…fingers crossed for a win UTO !!

Anyone know of anywhere to watch match tomorrow - Jandia region fueteventura ? Muchos Gracios….

I'm with you here - I remember being very harsh on Eustace at the time (Zico up front !?!), but my dad told me Peter Eustace was a fantastic graceful player for us back in the day (one of the best) & as you say, a key part of Wilko's management staff. A true Owl through & through deserving of respect & love from us all - sorry to hear he's unwell...(Not a number 1 clearly, but also in his favour, the shambolic period led to the arrival of Big Ron !!)

When the going gets tough...
Thorpeowl replied to Geörge Whitebread's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Icky, Dom & Famewo…yes, it is one of our issues for sure..Bamboo & Momo were potentials (& Bambo seemed to be a big plus in the dressing room to me (& a much better player than given credit for, but did lose his head a few times)… But Gary Megson ?!? In the trenches-really? Shelton, maybe, Mel Sterland, yep ! Mick Lyons, Nigel Pearson…& number 1 : Lawrie Madden…(would also be good in a pub quiz..clever bloke as well as as hard as they come)… -
Heartwarming post mate - strip away all the nonsense & this is what football's really about. Coincidentally, I took my daughter & her bf to her first home match yesterday - she's an Owl (4th gen), he's a hammer..........Fantastic day, we all loved it - great to get the win, cracking atmosphere.....just loving the joy Poveda exudes in his play - looks quality (& the way he celebrates every goal - early days I know, but he seems to be a throwback to different times).. Guess we all know what's coming at Rotherham - it's the hope that kills you as an Owl !! But good to see & feel such optimism & the love for DR really feels ssomething special Hope yesterday was the first of have many great Wednesday times with your daughter !

Swfc finances under Dejphon Chansiris tenure
Thorpeowl replied to ANDY's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Thanks, this is helpful - noted re. £6.5m being rolled over since 20/21. Would be interested to know who the debt provider is (though in the grand scheme of things, there maybe bigger issues re. SWFC finances to be concerned about !) -

Thorpeowl replied to ANDY's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Don't think the £6.5m is external debt (& it was short term in July 2022 anyway, repaid now ?). Trying not to get too dry or dull (& probably failing) , Note 13 in latest accounts states ""Included in Other creditors is an amount of £6.5m for which DC & Sheffield 3 act as guarantors" - almost certainly connected / related. The £0.9m annual interest likely to be for the larger borrowing from DC (If it is external, it's a pretty expensive loan so would be interested who the 3rd Party is) Regardless of the £0.9m interest, still seems SWFC in 2023, & currently may actually be close to being profitable. -

Don't think there are any third party loans ? No external debt - all borrowing is from DC -

Would be interesting to know what current position looks like (2023 & ongoing)...Guess we won't be filing accounts to July 2023 anytime soon, but assume Kieren Macguire (or similar) could make a pretty good stab at what it looks like ? If wage level is down to £12m / £13m, Income presumably increased so is SWFC actually currently profitable ? Also, annual costs / losses above include £2.5m rent pa + around £1m pa Loan Interest (what's it look like with all related company items excluded ?) - Just asking !! -
Sorry to hear fellow owls not in the best place. Plenty on this forum that winds me up, but at the end of the day it’s only football…hope today helps you both…certainly made my weekend-more to come let’s hope!!
-
If he hasn't paid the wages today, suspect there would be a walk-out or worse (as well as the legal / EFL rules issues) - From reading his latest statement DC seems to be using the 30 day point as a threat in his usual rationale mature way (so am wondering if wages have actually been paid today) - He's said £2m is cash flow issue needed for wages & HMRC debt so if wages bit has been paid does he still need £2m ? (Bit pointless analysing DC words I guess !!)
-
Wonder if his reference to 30 days in DC message mean that the wages due today have actually been paid to players (& management team). (Guess we'll know this today ?) £2m cash flow issue within a couple of weeks of taking on Rohl & team, got rid off Xisco etc. makes no sense. I know that DC & logic don't belong in the same sentence, but even by recent standards this does not add up. Gaslighting the fans (bad customers) in this way is a new low for DC.......

Chansiri has f<>cked us up completely
Thorpeowl replied to Maidstone Owl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Ridiculous man-child !!! Really hope he's playing games to demonstrate how grateful we all should be - guess today's the day we find out - Players (& management team presumably) Pay Day...... -
Hopefully, this is actually a bit of a non story-late PAYE/NI or VAT payment, zero actual impact..gets paid before January & on we go…PR disaster (typical DC/wednesday!), but no impact & in reality, is there any substance? I doubt it… -EFL got what they want-showed they can name & shame late payers (but really, who cares?!?)…saw someone on OT seriously suggesting we owe HMRC £8m from years past (really ?!?).. - Bed wetters got their 35 pages on OT & counting, Chansiri out, maybe a fans base/Dave Allen in, yawn yawn, maybe we could get another Mandaric ?!?! (That’s another post-No one on here seems to blame him for any of this ?!??) - Man child got some thinking “what if he really means it & he’s stopped putting any cash in it ?”if you do DC, just FO & let us start again, but even you must see this diversion really wasn’t helpful….am sure DR will have needless questions to answer in coming days (rather than focusing on his rather impressive start), so please FFS clarify & close off this nonsense asap

Bit of Haaland Keane here-guess we should be happy Josh can still walk!!
-
Fair analysis generally - though seems to be a clear dislike / bias against Windass, along with rest of Plymouth...(Actually, seems a view shared by a fair few Owls too!). I actually thought Josh looked more eager & back to match sharpness last night - goal bound shot hitting Gregory sums up the current luck, but also some misses (he does need too many chances to score, but he is championship standard & is getting / creating the chances. He's previously missed game changing chances at Leeds & Cardiff, but looked better last night imo - I think a flurry of goals will follow ??!!?? Bit unfair on Bannan too - maybe a victim of the standards he's set, but certainly did some good things last night....Confidence is clearly low up front, we really need a goal/lucky break....(& a win this Sunday) - Maybe Windass with Cadamateri will be the answer for us, feel more positive generally under Danny R (as positive as 3 points from 13 will allow !) Impressed with your forwards, couple of bad individual errors from us for sure, but still have to take the chances - they did......

More recently, some very inciteful analysis on Ted Lasso-seems to know his stuff!

Maybe, or maybe the thought of Warnock as our manager has destroyed my humour. I'm surprised how many owls I respect seem resigned to him as the best candidate to get us out of this mess. Personally , I feel Warnock (& Wilder) are just too entrenched in Utd folklore & recent history, but if Warnock was appointed we'd have to somehow find a way to come together as a fanbase and embrace the new experience of an anti-hero manager (something I read on Owlstalk - good way to look at it). Suspect it won't matter in the coming days & the actual appointment will dismay us all !
