Watching Ugbo trying to make the ball stick is fu**in painful..........Fusire`s first touch is awful.........Iorfa is a six foot plus marshmellow , Bazza looks like he is hiding and we get one chance to put ball in the box and take a fu**in short corner. Apart from that i thought we did ok ......................cant believe we are still in it , stop fu***n about and play the percentages FFS.

All gone a bit quiet on this hasn`t it. With just one more allowed I`m guessing Watmore and Redmonds injury records are putting HP off.

Most exciting players (mavericks)
Screen Door Slams replied to WimJunk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Looking back over the leagues in general, not just Wednesday, then the 70,s was the golden era for mavericks. Rodney Marsh, George Best, Duncan McKenzie, Stan Bowles, Tony Currie, Alan Hudson, Peter Osgood, Frank Worthington, Charlie George, Robin Friday etc etc Used to love watching all these but If any player did today what any of these guys did in their prime , there would be whining and bitching galore form fans and pundits alike saying they were "disrespectful". Probably my favourite maverick from this era was a German International called Gunther Netzer......a man who once brought himself on as sub in a cup final to score the winner. Even later as a pundit he was the same.....in an argument during a world cup game in 2012 between England and Germany he sniped back at a fellow pundit " I am a football aesthete..........................you`re just chaff" -
On the road with football’s new old boys’ network
Screen Door Slams replied to Oliver's topic in General Football Chat
been to a few of theses down the years.................my hero Shez was good value for money as was ex Liverpool defender Tommy Smith. The worse by a country mile was a mumbling disinterested Bruce Grobbelar who bored everyone so rigid they all started talking amongst themselves. Best one was in the early 80,s at the (I think) Arundel WMC on city road with Big Jack, Brian Clough and Danny Bergara. -
This x 1000...............................we must be the only club in England where a 4 week injury ALWAYS takes a minimum of 10 weeks to put right.

Video- MORE PROBLEMS FOR CHALOBAH
Screen Door Slams replied to punkyhorrors's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
In the same summer that "ambition free" Brentford signed Watkins we signed George Boyd. -
I agree.........one of the few blemishes on Big Jack`s time with us was that he wouldn`t / couldn`t utilise Wylde`s ability into his team format. He was my second Wednesday hero (first was Tommy Craig) and was a gifted player. A supremely confident lad, even bordering on arrogant at times. Not the quickest but had a lovely first touch, a good scoring record and a sleekiness and slinkiness to his game that really caught the eye.....not making direct comparisons but for those too young to have seen him he was a Berbatov / Sheringham type player and I remember during the Arsenal FA cup marathon when their manager Terry Neill raved about him saying he should be playing at a much higher level.

Horvath: - 8 Parried one shot straight back and one silly free kick , otherwise did very well. Palmer: - 7 Worked really hard, missed a good chance. Iorfa: - 8 His best display for quite some time. M. Lowe: - 7.5 Calm and assured for the most part. Fusire: - 6.5 fair play to the lad , I thought he showed next to nothing as a midfielder but making a better fist of this position. Amass: - 7 The consistency of his performances for one so young is impressive. Valery: - 7.5 Played well again in this new role. Bannan: - 7 Clearly not fully fit but never stops. Ingelsson: - 5.5 Two poor displays on the bounce, looks desperately in need of a rest, though I dont think the position HP is asking him to play is doing him any favours. J. Lowe: - 5 Poor Ugbo: - 4 Really poor. McNeill: - 5 Offered little Cadamarteri: - 4 offered nowt. Fernandes: N/A An awful game to watch , WBA had several decent chances first half but we edged the second half. It`s so difficult to get a foothold in the game when nothing sticks to your strikers, Ugbo and Lowe were so weak the ball just kept coming back. As I said, I wish HP would put Ingelsson into a proper midfield 3 where his physicality would be useful and let Amass offer the width. Overall a battling point but we look dead on our feet.....one thing that never seems to improve is our injury recovery , we were told that Chalobah and kobacki would be ready after the last international break....they look like still being out for the next one !!!

New Start - Good FKG LUCK
Screen Door Slams replied to Leofric's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Cheers Leo.........how are things at your club atm ? -
Ding Dong the witch is dead................... Lumley: - 6 It was a good free kick , but it was an awful long way out. Palmer: - 6.5 Did alright Iorfa: - 3 Car crash of a performance, jittery, clumsy, and an accident waiting to happen. M. Lowe: - 6 Poor first half , better second. Fusire: - 6.5 Still hit and miss but tbf he looks better in this position than midfield and our strikers would do well to watch how committed he was scoring the goal. Amass: - 6.5 Really poor first half , much better second half. Valery: - 7 Just shaded MOM for me, behind most of any good stuff going forward. Bannan: - 6.5 Clearly playing injured, got better as game went on. Ingelsson: - 5 Probably his poorest display all season , constantly gave the ball away and wasted some good opportunities....looks shattered tbf. J. Lowe: - 5 Tried to get involved by dropping deeper but at the business end he was hesitant and wasteful. Cadamarteri: - 5 Nothing really stuck and seems to always be on the periphery of games. Ugbo: - 4 Weak McNeill: - 6 Tried to inject some energy. Well...........we picked today of all days to put in one of our worst first half performances , but let`s be fair this team is mid table league 1 atm and running on fumes. But none of that really matters..........what really matters is the cancer we got the all clear from yesterday...............this fightback will be long and hard but let it begin.

SWFC IN ADMINISTRATION - CONFIRMED
Screen Door Slams replied to Sambo89's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Been to a funeral today and just as i was turning my phone off before the service it started buzzing like crazy with the news. Was it MLK who said "judge a man by the contents of his character"......................if so Chansiri and Paxiao deserve to be remembered in the worst way possible. Thank christ they are gone this last year has been purgatory ..............but it speaks volumes that we sit bottom with minus 6 points and likely a return to league one on the horizon , yet I plan on indulging in a few light ales this evening whilst basking in a warm glow of togetherness.............................WAWAW. -
Ugbo - Complete Waste of a Shirt
Screen Door Slams replied to The Dog's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Not being captain hindsight here but I said at the time given how his form had tailed off slightly at the end of his loan that we shouldn`t be paying anything over around 750K for him. When i heard the alleged figure that we agreed to I immediately had awful Jordan Rhodes flashbacks. -
I agree.............10 seconds into this I`m thinking FFS ref stop this as Kenny could get seriously hurt or worse.
-
Amen to that brother.
-
Usual caveats apply...........we all know the circumstances are awful but will judge purely on performance............CHANSIRI OUT !! Horvath - 4 Hands like frying pans whenever he has a shot to deal with. Iorfa - 5 Injured............again. Otegbayo - 3 Rash decision making, doesn`t sense danger, and petrified in possession.........the lad is currently light years off being ready for this standard. M. Lowe - 6.5 Not great for second goal but otherwise OK. Palmer - 6.5 OK Amass - 7 A few mistakes but overall a good display Valery - 6.5 Making a decent fist of his new position. Bannan - 6 Well below his best , better last 50 mins Ingelsson - 7.5 Strong running and combative throughout and was our main threat....really strange decision to hook him. J. Lowe - 5 No shortage of effort but wasted several promising situations with poor execution and missed an absolute sitter from 3 yards. Brown - 6 Feeding off scraps but stood up well to some physical stuff. Fusire - 4 Seen plenty of this lad now and I am struggling to see anything he offers. Ugbo - 5 One shocking miss but at least balanced it with a goal.......yes....a GOAL. Cadamarteri - 5 Barely noticed him. McNeill - N/A So frustrating that we gift them both goals as we were the better side for the last hour against a typical niggly $hithousery Nathan Jones team. So hard to criticize HP with the hand he has been dealt but one thing I will say is he always turns to Otegbayo and Fusire first yet whenever we have seen the young uns they are always the two that impress me the least .........time to give someone else a go a la Weaver as these two really aren`t cutting it. Everything just seems so hollow atm with an absent owner who probably doesn`t even know the result from yesterday............is there anything worse than a captain the deserts a sinking ship ?

Which young players did you expect to make it?
Screen Door Slams replied to WimJunk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Another one for Matt Penney ...................a talented lad who sadly never kicked on. Thought Julian Watts / Patrick Collins had a lot of promise but there careers fizzled out. Alex Higgins young midfielder from the 90,s Tom Staniforth looked the real deal til tragedy struck Saw David Billington for 30 mins in a pre season friendly at Huddersfield , but it was long enough to see that injury robbed us of a real talent. Francesco Sanetti and Pablo Bonvin Sold Wayne Jacobs much to early , went on to have a decent career. Paul Corry oozed class on his debut but that was as good as it got.
