  1. Usual caveats apply....................CHANSIRI OUT Horvath: - 7.5 Iorfa: - 7.5 Weaver: - 7.5 M. Lowe: - 8 Palmer: - 6.5 Amass: - 7.5 Valery: - 7 Bannan: - 8 Ingelsson: - 7 J. Lowe: - 6 Cadamarteri: - 5 Brown: - 7.5 Fusire: - 5
  2. 100 % the word legend is much overused but the title is correct.................2 genuine legends.
  3. Buono Estente...................Boutros Boutros-Ghali
  4. usual caveats apply.....CHANSIRI OUT Horvath - 6.5 Palmer - 7 Iorfa - 8 Weaver - 7.5 M. Lowe - 7 Amass - 7.5 Bannan - 8 Ingelsson - 6.5 Valery - 6.5 Brown - 6 Cadamarteri - 5 SUBS all - 6
  5. "Cult hero" is open to interpretation...................usually means not necessarily the best player but someone who had a real connection. but there are many players that tick both boxes.
  6. is he Simon Weaver`s lad ?
  7. Usual caveats apply.................CHANSIRI OUT Horvath: - 8 Still needs to stop pawing shots straight back at people but tbf he kept really well yesterday. Palmer: - 7.5 looked so much better in his proper position. Iorfa: - 7.5 Much better than previous few weeks. Weaver: - 8 A few rash moments but given this was his full league debut he stood up very well , seems more confident and senses danger much quicker than Otegbayo. M. Lowe: - 7.5 Solid defensively and broke forward well. Amass: - 8 A couple of panicked clearances aside he was really good, would love to have seen him in last years team. Valery: - 8.5 My MOM , Switched seamlessly to midfield and given the current problems should stay there. Bannan: - 8.5 Rolling back the years, brilliant comeback after last week. Ingelsson: - 8.5 Still guilty of the odd misplaced pass or silly foul but his contribution in this awful period for the club has been immense. Cadamarteri: - 8 Worked his nads off, and the key difference second half yesterday was we started to see some end product as well. Brown: - 8 Didn`t look overawed and made some really nice contributions , none more so than his composed finish...well done lad. J. Lowe: - 7 Looked busier and brighter than recent displays. Fusire: N/A Ugbo: N/A A real snecklifter of a day............shout out to HP as I was critical of his selection and tactics last week but he got the Palmer/Valery switch spot on....Liam looks so much more comfortable at the back and Yan has neater feet than him for the midfield role. A fair few going a tad overboard about the two young uns but that is only to be expected given how starved of good news we have been these last 5 months. They both did really well against an admittedly pi$$ poor Pompey team on the day. Now pleeeeeeeeeeeeease can we just be taken over and add a few ooc players and who knows maybe this season won1t be a complete disaster.........yeah I know but I can dream.
  8. Ay up Torry...........my old man (RIP) started taking me to the odd game in the late 60,s but my own personal memories start around the time that 66 era team had been dismantled and that little maestro in your avatar was playing. Tell me a bit about Fantham , Swan , Springett, Megson , Layne etc , how good were they , comparisons to current players etc. Remember seeing McCalliog playing for Southampton had he faded a bit by then ?..................also my Dad used to be very complimentary about Mick Jones who I remember playing for Leeds but not utd. And any Wednesday fan of my era not including Tony Currie cannot be taken seriously , he was a fantastic player who should have won more England caps than he did.
  9. R. Springett Nilsson Swan D.Walker K.Walker Woodward Sheridan Currie Waddle Hirst Atkinson SUBS Maguire Warhurst Di Canio N Dyaie Deane Fantham Sterland M. Jones Theres a few there that i have leaned on the memories of my old man telling me about.
  10. Hovarth - 6.5 Emery - 6 Weaver - 6.5 McGhee - 5 Johnson - 5 Fusire - 4 Shipston - 5 Thornton - 5 Brown - 5.5 Kobacki - 5 Lowe - 5 Alao - 6 Bannan - 6 Otegbayo - 5 McNeill - 5.5 I,m sorry guys but barring one or two these lads are destined for tier 5 or below.
  11. Always supported this thread and will continue to do so , but whilst I will rate purely on performance remember that the mitigation for some players playing when they shouldn`t be, and some players performing way below their best is down to the decimation of our club through the actions of one man and his "advisors". I supported us all through the 70,s and never thought I would see that level of apathy and desolation on display again but believe me when i say that this is ten times worse and no-one in charge is man enough to even make statements never mind discourse......shame on you..............CHANSIRI OUT. Hovarth - 4 TBF for the majority of the time he looks exactly what he is which is a league 1 3rd choice , not his fault. Valery - 4 Slowly getting dragged down to the overall team level. Iorfa - 4 Needs to be a leader but seems to be hiding. Otegbayo - 3 Absolutely miles off the required standard for this level M. Lowe - 5 One of our better players on the day but still suffering like the rest. Amass - 6 Did OK in spells and looks to have some ability , just hope we don`t wreck him....if no takeover is forthcoming then Man U must be crazy sending him to this $hitshow. Palmer - 3 Poor guy looked totally lost , he either plays in the backline where on a good day he is adequate at this level or not at all...he is not a midfielder. Bannan - 5 Looks a broken man. Ingelsson - 6.5 Far from perfect but commendable effort amidst all the malaise. Ugbo - 3 What on earth has happened to him looks almost like a fraud out there. McNeill - 3 There is some ability in there but i think we can now see why he couldn`t even cement a starting place at Newport....not sure whether it is belief , confidence or desire but something is sadly missing. Fusire - 4 Again picked ahead of Thornton and Shipston for no discernible reason. Johnson - 4 Too early , on the few occasions i watched the young uns last season Sam Reed looked a much better left back and he is now playing for Altrincham. J. Lowe - 5 Tried to inject some purpose but no end product. Cadamarteri - 5 Ditto. Weaver - 6 Surely deserves a chance to start. Taking all the caveats into account it still was a poor day from HP.........I dont have an earthly idea what formation we were playing and the choice of starting XI was alarming as is his continued picking of certain players.
  12. It was far from his first but it was spectacular I will grant you that. The outrage against George on here would have been hilarious were it not so sad................from all the people who also probably said we would be "better off " without Brunt , Antonio , Bannan etc.
  13. Sothgate gave him a full England cap , but yeah Carlton Palmer in worst England XI...............
  14. This is really funny atm but wont last unfortunately. Even if Selles is still in charge which i doubt , then there next two are Charlton and Oxford , and despite their current form they still have a squad of players more than capable of putting a good run together.......................fun while it lasts though.
  15. Just a bit ...................my first memories are Mexico 70
  16. Ashley..............LWB in a 3-5-2.
  17. What started as a beer soaked chat during the thrilling England Andorra game turned into naming the "best in my lifetime Home nations XI , we even included Eire (cant think why we were distracted )......................FWIW here were my choices , who de we think would win it ? ENGLAND Banks, Campbell, Moore, Ferdinand, Beckham, Hoddle, Gascoigne, Robson, Cole Rooney, Owen N. IRELAND Jennings, J. Nicholl, Evans A,. Hughes Donaghy, Martin O Neill, McIlroy, Davis, Best, Whiteside, Gillespie SCOTLAND Goram, McGrain, Hansen, Gough, Nicol J. Johnstone, Souness, Bremner, E.Gray Law, Dalglish WALES Southall, Rodrigues, Ratcliffe, England, Davies, Giggs, Ramsay, Speed, Bale, Rush, M. Hughes REP OF IRELAND Given, Lawrenson, McGrath, O, Leary, McAteer, Roy Keane, Giles, Brady, Irwin Robbie Keane, Stapleton
  18. I like Eze but still think Grealish would be more effective and I think he needs to utilise Gibbs-White a lot more than he is doing currently. Overall I have got a horrible Capello style feeling about this manager.
  19. Saw Bruce Grobellar at a gentlemans evening once in the early 2000,s and it was the worst one i have ever been to , he came across as a boring , shifty, charisma free bloke....nothing like the "character" the media portrayed him as.
  20. Two awful tricky Trev signings.
  21. This will be the worst season ever in my 50 plus years watching us , and that includes nearly dropping into division 4 in the mid 70,s. At least then we had a stadium that was the envy of many.....and it was OURS , and the hope that one day we would make that one appointment that would turn us around as we did with Big Jack. Feel so sorry for my lad and his kids having to go though this embarrassment and torture , cus` believe me once the defeats start piling up the last remaining fight in this tiny group of players will dissipate and it will get so, so ugly..............the derby in particular doesn`t bear thinking about.
  22. We should DEFINITLEY have appointed Neil Warnock as manager instead of Alan Irvine........that Wilko inspired appointment killed us. Nigel Jemson was a more than decent striker. Athde Nuhiu`s physical conditioning for a pro footballer was appalling. Phil King was much better than Nigel Worthington.
  23. Given we are an absolute shambles with an incoming points deduction , a crumbling stadium , a transfer embargo, no leadership or communication , and with 24 hours of a transfer window to go look like being left with about 9 full time pro.s..........then the mitigating reasons for our performances are clear for all to see..................CHANSIRI OUT ! Horvath: - 5 Ball looks like a bar of soap when dealing with any kind of attempt that needs handling. Valery: - 6 Would prefer to see Lowe at centre back. Iorfa: - 6 Mixed bag M. Lowe: - 6.5 probably our best player on the day. Palmer: - 6 See Iorfa. Kobacki: - 5.5 Bright first half , poor second. Ingelsson: - 6 A bit below recent weeks , system to blame mainly. Bannan: - 6 Must be soul destroying for him to see the club dying a slow painful death. McNeill: - 5 Raised our hopes last week but didnt follow it up. J. Lowe: - 5 Ineffective again. Cadamarteri: - 4.5 I really don`t see what others do , he has all the raw materials now and I hope the lad develops should he stay , but he was virtually non-existent yesterday . Ugbo: - 5 Nothing of note Johnson: - 5 Whilst he did well in the cup games I think his performances were overhyped. Fusire: - 4 Just fail to see what he offers , not creative , doesn`t break play up .............in the few cup games I`ve seen I would have both Thornton and Shipston ahead of him for a midfield berth. MOM with 6.5 against a poor-ish Swansea team says it all really, but everyone is battling against the awful, awful feeling around our situation so displays like this don`t surprise me. Thought HP got it wrong yesterday with the formation , timing of subs and choice of subs but hey ho the guy is working with both hands tied behind his back. Said in another thread this could be the worst winter watching us since I started in the early- mid 70,s , it is likely to be horrific and I just wish some of my fellow Owls would stop directly funding the problem.
