Wednesday's best 1-50

"Cult hero" is open to interpretation...................usually means not necessarily the best player but someone who had a real connection. but there are many players that tick both boxes. -
is he Simon Weaver`s lad ?

Usual caveats apply.................CHANSIRI OUT Horvath: - 8 Still needs to stop pawing shots straight back at people but tbf he kept really well yesterday. Palmer: - 7.5 looked so much better in his proper position. Iorfa: - 7.5 Much better than previous few weeks. Weaver: - 8 A few rash moments but given this was his full league debut he stood up very well , seems more confident and senses danger much quicker than Otegbayo. M. Lowe: - 7.5 Solid defensively and broke forward well. Amass: - 8 A couple of panicked clearances aside he was really good, would love to have seen him in last years team. Valery: - 8.5 My MOM , Switched seamlessly to midfield and given the current problems should stay there. Bannan: - 8.5 Rolling back the years, brilliant comeback after last week. Ingelsson: - 8.5 Still guilty of the odd misplaced pass or silly foul but his contribution in this awful period for the club has been immense. Cadamarteri: - 8 Worked his nads off, and the key difference second half yesterday was we started to see some end product as well. Brown: - 8 Didn`t look overawed and made some really nice contributions , none more so than his composed finish...well done lad. J. Lowe: - 7 Looked busier and brighter than recent displays. Fusire: N/A Ugbo: N/A A real snecklifter of a day............shout out to HP as I was critical of his selection and tactics last week but he got the Palmer/Valery switch spot on....Liam looks so much more comfortable at the back and Yan has neater feet than him for the midfield role. A fair few going a tad overboard about the two young uns but that is only to be expected given how starved of good news we have been these last 5 months. They both did really well against an admittedly pi$$ poor Pompey team on the day. Now pleeeeeeeeeeeeease can we just be taken over and add a few ooc players and who knows maybe this season won1t be a complete disaster.........yeah I know but I can dream.

AI names Owls/Blades best all time XI

Ay up Torry...........my old man (RIP) started taking me to the odd game in the late 60,s but my own personal memories start around the time that 66 era team had been dismantled and that little maestro in your avatar was playing. Tell me a bit about Fantham , Swan , Springett, Megson , Layne etc , how good were they , comparisons to current players etc. Remember seeing McCalliog playing for Southampton had he faded a bit by then ?..................also my Dad used to be very complimentary about Mick Jones who I remember playing for Leeds but not utd. And any Wednesday fan of my era not including Tony Currie cannot be taken seriously , he was a fantastic player who should have won more England caps than he did. -

Always supported this thread and will continue to do so , but whilst I will rate purely on performance remember that the mitigation for some players playing when they shouldn`t be, and some players performing way below their best is down to the decimation of our club through the actions of one man and his "advisors". I supported us all through the 70,s and never thought I would see that level of apathy and desolation on display again but believe me when i say that this is ten times worse and no-one in charge is man enough to even make statements never mind discourse......shame on you..............CHANSIRI OUT. Hovarth - 4 TBF for the majority of the time he looks exactly what he is which is a league 1 3rd choice , not his fault. Valery - 4 Slowly getting dragged down to the overall team level. Iorfa - 4 Needs to be a leader but seems to be hiding. Otegbayo - 3 Absolutely miles off the required standard for this level M. Lowe - 5 One of our better players on the day but still suffering like the rest. Amass - 6 Did OK in spells and looks to have some ability , just hope we don`t wreck him....if no takeover is forthcoming then Man U must be crazy sending him to this $hitshow. Palmer - 3 Poor guy looked totally lost , he either plays in the backline where on a good day he is adequate at this level or not at all...he is not a midfielder. Bannan - 5 Looks a broken man. Ingelsson - 6.5 Far from perfect but commendable effort amidst all the malaise. Ugbo - 3 What on earth has happened to him looks almost like a fraud out there. McNeill - 3 There is some ability in there but i think we can now see why he couldn`t even cement a starting place at Newport....not sure whether it is belief , confidence or desire but something is sadly missing. Fusire - 4 Again picked ahead of Thornton and Shipston for no discernible reason. Johnson - 4 Too early , on the few occasions i watched the young uns last season Sam Reed looked a much better left back and he is now playing for Altrincham. J. Lowe - 5 Tried to inject some purpose but no end product. Cadamarteri - 5 Ditto. Weaver - 6 Surely deserves a chance to start. Taking all the caveats into account it still was a poor day from HP.........I dont have an earthly idea what formation we were playing and the choice of starting XI was alarming as is his continued picking of certain players.

It was far from his first but it was spectacular I will grant you that. The outrage against George on here would have been hilarious were it not so sad................from all the people who also probably said we would be "better off " without Brunt , Antonio , Bannan etc.
-
Sothgate gave him a full England cap , but yeah Carlton Palmer in worst England XI...............
-
This is really funny atm but wont last unfortunately. Even if Selles is still in charge which i doubt , then there next two are Charlton and Oxford , and despite their current form they still have a squad of players more than capable of putting a good run together.......................fun while it lasts though.
