Luxury Tax (actually Competitive Balance Tax) (barely)works in US sports such as baseball because of the draft. Rich teams such as The Mets or The Dodgers don't care so much about the financial implications of blowing through the (increasing levels of) threasholds. What's a $40mil fine on a $340Mil p.a. payroll if you're Steve Cohen? The bit they might care about is reduced draft picks - we don't have that in English sport. Can't see it working here.

I didn't mention membership. I quoted for none members. For members the discount (adults) is: Kop pays 50% North pays 57.14% Grandstand pays 53.13% South pays 62.5%

Great initiative but (and i know i'm going to get shot down so flame away), why isn't the discount consistent across all stands? Just taking adult none members prices: Kop pays 66% North pays 71.4% Grandstand pays 68.75% South pays 75% Why?

Not read all of this, the 1 billionth version of this thread but, I'm surprised at some posters who have a pretty intimate knowledge of the club and it's facilities arguing for doing. up the existing stadium. S6 is a million miles behind pretty much every other ground in the top 50 clubs in the UK and many outside of it. It doesn't generate any significant none matchday income. It is taking increasingly longer to get to from outside of S6 (incrediblly, the majority of attending supporters don't live within walking distance), it's awful for parking. Once inside the facilities and infrastructure are laughable. The sight lines are terrible (we sat at the Leps end of the south v Oxford - when the ball is at the Kop end on the South Stand side you can't see it; a corner down there and everyone stands up. Except the pensioners who can't and then the grumbling starts). This is why modern stadiums are built in a bowl/oval/rounded shape! We moved away before. It's time to do so again.

Not technically true as it's huge in Japan, South Korea and throughout much of the Caribbean and growing elsewhere but certainly it doesn't seem to have the truely global appeal of football. However, at last reckoning the New York Yankees were estimated to be worth $8.2BILLION. Man Utd are currently reckoned to be worth $6.6BILLION.

So he'll see £15m. * We need clarity on the ground situation - who has put Sheffield 3 into admin? DC or NAP? This is HUGELY important as far as packaging the club and the ground to a buyer going forward. * He's done. Not coming back. Willo take what he ends up with and will disappear with not so much as a whimper.

So they must have enforced the charge and taken ownership. We need confirmation because this WOULD mean DC is gone.
