I’m all for giving HP time. He’s been dealt a horrible hand and had we not had the injuries maybe it would have been different. He would also benefit from a larger back room staff. HOWEVER that game was dire and he deserves criticism for his tactics and team selection. If that is a sign of things to come then we will need a better manager.

Used to play football there before it was taken over by them.

It’s a decent song by a local band who made it big. More of a Sheffield connection than Simple Minds or Jeff Beck as well and we would never change those. Also - it’s no heavier than the start of Brianstorm which I believe we used to play and no one complained because it was the Arctic Monkeys. People will always find something to moan about. It’s not Eurovision.

Pigs trashing trams

Pretty pathetic but let’s not pretend that some of our fans will be loving this as well. Never understood the “firms”. Never want to. Different world to me and I’m quite glad about it, but also stops me going to the match with my daughter. -
HILLSBOROUGH OR MOVE AWAY?
UpGrahamHydesSleeve replied to owlsite's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Oh 100% and Bellew fought at Goodson Park of course. I’m talking more about a genuine pull for bigger events. Steep stands, safer standing and the ability to expand the stadium are all things that could be incorporated to enhance the experience. -
HILLSBOROUGH OR MOVE AWAY?
UpGrahamHydesSleeve replied to owlsite's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I can see there being minimal improvements made in the interim, whilst work starts on a new build. It all depends on the extent of the damage. Can we use Hillsborough as a base for 3 years or however long it takes to build somewhere new and what impact would that have on revenue etc. Sheffield is crying out for a multipurpose venue where anything from concerts, boxing, athletics, rugby, can be held. The Arena is awful, and we miss out on huge acts which is embarrassing given the musical heritage of the city. Our new ground could be an ideal venue for this and therefore may be eligible for government grants but in order for this to happen we need owners with foresight and patience, and we also need to be successful. -
Next season in league 1

Better teams have been relegated through mismanagement. Although it’s not likely momentum is a huge thing and them plus Norwich are not doing much to halt the slide. They spent big on deadline day and maybe they’ll do that again but a) do they fund it by selling players, b) do they expect the team to gel with new players and c) do they trust Wilder with a budget? If we get anything from the derby - even a point - it will be catastrophic as the teams around them can and should pull away a bit. -

It’s only disrespectful if they do it out of protest. I’d say it’s more ignorance rather than disrespect. -
A lot will also depend on whether we are under embargo or not as well. This is not like when we went down last time I’m afraid. We had a genuinely good league one squad. This season, this group of players would probably be mid table league 1, realistically. I would worry that -15 would set us back too far to catch up, and we get swept into a relegation battle. Going into League 2 would be a significant mountain to climb.

Documentary?
UpGrahamHydesSleeve replied to UpGrahamHydesSleeve's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
We could do a comedy-drama series on the last 10 years to be fair -
Licences can be applied for. I know Dalton Smith would love to fight at Hillsborough too. Issue is everyone os playing catch up.
-
After the success of Sunderland Til I Die, Welcome To Wrexham and the All Or Nothing docs, a series following Wednesday’s plight would be genuinely interesting. Especially given the media talent in the city.

SWFC IN ADMINISTRATION - CONFIRMED

Hate to say it but those who bought 10 year season tickets only have themselves to blame. Obvious from the 3rd season that Chansiri’s tenure was somewhat unstable. -
I don’t think I’d be alone in saying that all this rigmarole has completely sapped my energy in supporting this club. If we get rid of Chansiri through administration great but it means almost certain relegation two seasons on the bounce. Assuming we get through that and only end up in League 2, we will at best be League 1 in say 3-4 years time. Realistically we are looking at a decade before we can think about being competitive in the championship again. This season ticket holder who “won’t be told what to do” doesn’t really care about other people. One game, that’s all it is, and an empty stadium speaks volumes. If it forces a sale it could perhaps cut that decade in half. Every person in that ground tonight does not have a view of the bigger picture and that’s the reality - and I appreciate many people go for many other reasons. Go every other time this season but get behind the boycott this one game.

Just Don’t Go -
Breaks my heart to say this but… Sheffield Wednesday as we know it is dead. The pride we have as a team, a fanbase, our reputation up in smoke. Even if we do get taken over the road to recovery will likely be years if not decades, and many of our fans will not be around when we get back to anywhere close to where we should be. messages don’t get delivered to the chairman. Protest all you like, dont go to games, dont buy from the shop… or do. I don’t see it making any difference now. Our only hope is the regulator and even if that works the lasting damage to this once great club is almost critical. All because of one man’s narcissism. Woe betide Chansiri if he steps near Sheffield for any reason other than to sign over ownership.

Sheffield Wednesday vs Bristol City OMDT
UpGrahamHydesSleeve replied to Maddogbob's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
This season is a write off and was at the start of the season. Our game is in the boardroom and at the negotiation table. Happy to accept relegation if it gets rid of Chansiri
