  1. I'll be honest that's what I expected. But I was by no means being intrusive. I'm speaking as a Sheffield lad who loves his club but loves his rivals to struggle. When people talk of a local derby and one of us us playing Leeds or similar I just laugh Ours is the only Derby on this planet that matters and I hope it will be here for future generations of my family to enjoy like it was for previous ones. Sheffield as a one city club may as well be a rugby city.
  2. Spot on. As a United fan it was no big deal to go and watch Wednesday with my mate. It was a football match I bloody loved it.
  3. I'm just pleased there's actually someone older than me on here
  4. But it's genuinely my feelings mate. It's above football banter.
  5. Yes I've done three Edinburgh derbies, they're as horrible as ours lol.
  6. My Scottish team (I'm not very good at picking teams Had season tickets for them in years gone by.
  7. I'm not posting this for abuse. Most weekends I hate Sheffield Wednesday. Heres my take on your club. In the early to mid 70s my friend who was a Wednesday fan and myself would go to Bramall Lane and Hillsborough to watch whoever was at home that week. Many times we'd just get in for the last twenty minutes when the gates opened. I didn't support Wednesday nor he United but we'd sing on both kops. We did that right up until 1977 when I then started following United away. Wednesday players I remember from then Peter Fox,Tommy Tynan,Prendergast,Wylde, Henson and from earlier years Peter Grummit, Rodriguez,Tommy Craig and many more. My friends favourite United player was Alan Woodward. Tommy Tynan was my Wednesday player. There was no roof on the kop and the attendances were nothing like today's. I've taken the photograph from Twitter because I genuinely find it incredibly sad. As a Blade I love the Sheffield double. Of course I want Wednesday to get relegated and us promoted all Sheffield football fans love to gloat and that's what we do it makes the banter great. But I want Wednesday to fail because they're crap on the pitch and not because some despot owner is strangling the life out of the club. I get no joy from that. I hope the Wednesday fans unite and strongly protest, whatever it takes. We get mocked for the shoes off in the car park. But when thousands of you get together the force of the love for your club gets even stronger. This owner needs to be gone. The photo upset me because that's how some of my family and very good friends feel now. It's heartbreaking. I hope we are playing you in the top tier in my lifetime (I'm now 62) Good luck in this battle I only come on here to read and laugh at the great humour mocking us. But this in my opinion is beyond mockery.
  8. Blade here. Yes it's Chris Basham's testimonial. It's fund raising totally for Weston Park. From what I understand there will be former Wednesday players in Bracknell's team. I believe they're trying to get both Wednesday and United fans to attend because it's for a cause dear to all of us. Maybe if our manager hadn't burnt bridges with your manager he would have managed the opposition instead. Hopefully there's a strong showing of ex Wednesday and United players and the stadium sells out.
  9. Pig fan here mate. We're bricking it like the majority of you lot. I've seen nearly every Derby since 1970 and they've never got any easier to watch whoever you support. My family and mates are a mixed crowd of Wednesday and United so you know it won't be fun if you lose. The only time I've seen one team totally outclass the other was Wembley and you only beat us by one that day when you could have really hammered us. As I recall on Boxing day we were favourites no one expected that result or the double when Whitehouse scored in both games and your team was loaded with some brilliant players. There is nowhere near that gulf in class now. I see a low scoring game which you lot are more than capable of winning. I'm a betting man,but you'd be a fool to bet on this one. So yes the sensible United fans like myself are dreading this game like the majority of you are. The FA should just designate these games a draw so we don't have to play each other. Whatever the score I hope the usual idiots from both sets of fans aren't allowed to spoil the day. One more thing. This game should have constantly been a top flight Derby if it hadn't have been for the constant failures of both clubs boards over the years. I get pissed off when our beautiful city isn't spoken of in glowing terms the way Manchester, Liverpool and the London clubs are. Hopefully we'll both be in the top flight soon, two very good managers at both clubs and two sets of great support. And yes I acknowledge you lot have the bigger support
  10. As a Blade I don't normally post on your forum but this today feels different. I only ever spoke with George on one occasion and it was after the 2-4 Hillsborough game. His first comment wasn't,what a great victory as you'd expect, but rather he went on about the noise of the Wednesday fans when you equalised. He said we couldn't hear each other on the pitch the roar for your equaliser was like no noise he'd heard before. I've never experienced the death of a player so recently connected to our club before and I hope it's something I nor any other fan experiences again. I just feel so sad and numb. My own son is 31 like George. My son has a daughter a few months old. If what I'm hearing is right George died on his daughter's first birthday,I really hope this is wrong information. Thank you all for your kind comments they are appreciated I'm sure by all Blades reading this.
  11. I didn't realise it was Twitter who decided relegation issues. Thanks for the heads up.
