  1. Remember it well! I was living in Bury at the time, so was late back after the delayed start. Absolutely soaked to the skin walking down from Foxhill Road, where I used to park. Can remember ground staff squeegeeing water away from one of the corner flags, felt very down at half time, but what a second half! Never give up hope, never ever have I left a game before the ref blows his whistle. What a team that was.
  2. I agree with previous posts: gambling firms are indeed predatory b@stards. They employ devious, underhanded tactics to sanitise what they do. Timeouts, deposit limits, reminders of how long you' ve been playing. The only people that will use any of these are those who don't have a problem. Gambling firms thrive on getting people addicted. Portray it as a bit of harmless fun to disguise the hook and then say it's not their fault people have no self control. Not their fault? Possibly, but definitely their responsibility. I've seen the devastation first hand; deny gambling firms any publicity in sport. I'm sure they'll survive.
  3. I live near Penrith, since retirement. When I went to the Playoff Final, there were at least a dozen Owls on the platform at North Lakes Station. When the train from Carlisle/Glasgow pulled in, there were loads of Wednesday supporters on board. Got swamped at Preston as I recall.
  4. Niuhiu's equaliser against Fulham at home acouple of years ago. Fulham had been time wasting and play acting all game, awful awful match. Felt like we'd won because it was in injury time and the b******s got what was coming to them!
  5. As predicted in another thread. Pint in my old local in Ealing. Bit of calm before the mayhem, zone myself in for the game.
  6. Mug of tea, 2 Weetabix with some berries chucked in with the milk. Getting the 8:03 am from Penrith, Euston at 11: 20 am. Might be able to face something more substantial then (pre match anxiety attack in progress as I write). Used to live in Ealing so may try my old local, Wheatsheaf on Haven Lane. Fullers ESB + scran if there's time. Don't think the Met will have closed it down!
  7. OK, now saying Valid ID but no TPP is 1 pm 25th May to 9 am 26th May, but no events found on the club website. They also appear to have closed the queue down. Anybody got any idea what's happening? Have the tickets finally sold out???
  8. Thought 1:30pm onwards was for those with a valid ID but no PPs???
  9. Well, they do say revenge is a dish best served cold!
  10. Absolutely. This all day long, the whole charade should be binned, just promote the top 3.
  11. Agreed . As I've just posted in another thread, if 3 teams are to be promoted, then the top three have earned it over the season. The playoffs do NOT make things more "interesting". As you say, all that hard work blown apart in 90 minutes.
  12. Agreed. In fact, I'd go further: if the league really want to promote 3 teams, then just promote the top 3. They've proved themselves over 46 games and ,therefore, have earned the right to promotion. Playoffs are nothing more than a stupid games how.
  13. If we really have blown automatic promotion then I'd take your 29th April scenario. With Barnsley out of the way and key players back onside, then I think we'd be in with a shout in the playoffs. What do you reckon? (I haven't given up hope yet BTW).
  14. Excellent post. What's been happening isn't reasoned criticism, it's sheer petulance, children having tantrums and stamping their little feet because they're not getting what they want. For goodness sake grow up, support your team and stop being such a bunch of drama queens. UTO.
  15. Hmm... Think I concur with Emerson, an aprehension inducing whiff of bananas about this one. Surely they're not going to let themselves get battered 2 weeks in a row? 1-1 (prove me wrong)!
  16. Just been on the club site to see if I can get an iFollow pass. It's saying only audio passes available; is this right, or am I doing something wrong??
  17. Just voted for Sheffield Wednesday, yes to the 70's Owl logo, for me that's the decade when all this lunacy started! (Wasn't actually born in Sheffield). Finally, Curry sauce / gravy / mushy peas on chips....the work of the Devil!!
  18. So sad to hear your news. Condolences to you Owlsman.
  19. You haven't really thought this through have you. I moved to near Penrith when I retired but still bought a season ticket. I get to most weekend home games, midweek a bit difficult and I'm a bit further from most away games (Fleetwood, Morecambe, Bolton are nearest). First and second round cup didn't seem worth the petrol money somehow, so that makes me a part - timer to be milked? Anyone else out there in a similar situation? Do you also find the above attitude irritating?
  20. Absolute cracker!
  21. I hear you Bro! Three - none Wednesday.
  22. Without a doubt, Atdhe Nuhiu. Wreaks total havoc in the opposition defence for the last 20 minutes also gets some vital goals. A game changer if ever there was one if we were struggling.
  23. See, I'm still seething! (2-1, of course).
  24. Away at Blackburn, think it was 19/20 season. Terrible game but we went 1-0 up in 83rd minute (Jacob Murphy). I thought "OK, it'll do". We lost 2-0.......... HOW????????????? Absolutely speechless.
