Don’t apologise. That’s the perfect level of advice for me. -
Let's Get The Scrubbers Of S2 Sold Out!

Is anyone else unable to access Tickets on our website? Won’t let me in. -
I watched the 83-85 team and the 91-94 team week-in, week-out, and I can honestly say that the player whose absence most affects the team is Bannan. We had greater players of course, some regular internationals, but none came close to being as key as Baz, whereby the entire style of play changed for the worse in their absence. Having seen our superstars over 40 years, I have no doubt whatsoever that Bannan could have played regularly at mid-table Prem level. He’d have been an ever-present, keeping a team moving in CM. Anyone who has played football understands how your own game is made easier and better when you are surrounded by higher quality team-mates. If I was manager (…we’d get zero points) I’d stop Baz making those 60 yard sprints we’ve known and loved for a decade. He is SO vital, he needs to tweak his game, to be the game controller, a role he does so superbly. If I was the new owner (…we wouldn’t have a pot to pee in), one of my first announcements would be that Barry Bannan will stay with Sheffield Wednesday, playing as long as he can, and be given any role he wants (bar head coach) upon hanging-up his size five boots. Love the fella, love watching him, love listening to him talk about the game.

Norwich City match could have MONUMENTAL consequences
Holmowl replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
We were thinking of coming early to ensure we get a decent parking spot. Now they’ve announced the pie & pint deal we’ll definitely take advantage of that. Top marks to the administrators and staff. -
Fabulous point. What an effort.

Chansiri removed from North Stand
Holmowl replied to EcclesallOwl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
It’s odd, bcos the duty of an administrator is to minimise outlay and maximise income. So the fact that they are paying staff to take his name away must be considered a big PR win, resulting in goodwill from us fans, leading to more bums on (blue) seats and more beer swilled. It works for me! -
One Last Anti-Chansiri Chant On 10 Mins?
Holmowl replied to BIG D's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Not for me. Like a bad fart left through an open door, he was unbearable but he’s history. Blue and white, and no mention of the C word imho. -
Should be a fantastic atmosphere. Your kids will love it. What a thrill to go through to the seats for the very first time. Hope you have a day to remember. I can’t wait. First match this season for me and Mrs H…obvs

Channers doesn’t get one penny of club income from now on. It goes to staff salaries and creditors. Should be an amazing atmosphere tomorrow. Day One of no leach Chansiri.

Free? Thanks. The Kopparbergs are on Kopparberg.

Frightening if you compare the tale of 2 gamblers
Holmowl replied to steelowl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I agree. Channers in the Prem would have led to the bankruptcies of all bankruptcies. -
Your writing style reminds me of Melchett stopping an argument. Now, you make some good points. If Channers sells up, him and the buyer would consider 3 routes:- 1. Include the stadium in the deal. 2. Include a (say) 5 year rent agreement in the sale. 3. Totally exclude the stadium.(Either bcos Channers wants to keep it, or the buyer doesn’t want it at the price Channers demands.) If however, we go into administration, as you say, all that can be sold is the club minus the stadium. That then gets very messy indeed. Especially if the administration is mid-season. Administrators usually want a very quick sale to the new buyers. It would possible but difficult for interested buyers to do a quick deal with the administrator for the club, and a quick side deal with, say, Rotherham or Barnsley, to rent their stadium on a week by week basis, until à longer-term rental arrangement or purchase of Hillsborough could be negotiated…or not, so rent elsewhere long-term. Very tough for interested parties to come up with a business-plan for the purchase of à football club from the administrators, without a firm plan of where to play. On the plus side, buying from administrators is usually very cheap, so the risk to the buyer is minimised. Good post and good thread. Let’s hope Captain Chansiri is looking out for icebergs, though I expect not.

Exactly what we need.

A football thread. Top man. I know this sounds barmy after last season, but we need Ugbo in the team. That doesn’t guarantee goals of course, as we saw only too painfully, but I’m 99% certain that with Cads and Lowe up top we’ll fall way short. The Mystery of Jamal Lowe is a puzzle to me. Played 85% of his career wide, yet we play him up front, where bless him, he just isn’t a striker. Like I said, no guarantee at all that unconfident Uggers gets that monkey off his back, but him doing so is our only hope of relatively free-flowing goals.

His agility in getting down so low so quickly was outstanding. Once he got to them, his stretch and his arm-strength were as good as you’ll see.

Making the case. Is Barry Bannan the greatest EFL?
Holmowl replied to M Royds's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I’ve followed Wednesday since 82. I’ve probably watched and enjoyed better players (though Im not certain, because I’m sure Baz had/has the ability to play in a very good Prem side), but he is far and away my favourite all-time player. I can’t imagine Wednesday without him.
