Frightening if you compare the tale of 2 gamblers
Holmowl replied to steelowl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I agree. Channers in the Prem would have led to the bankruptcies of all bankruptcies. -
Your writing style reminds me of Melchett stopping an argument. Now, you make some good points. If Channers sells up, him and the buyer would consider 3 routes:- 1. Include the stadium in the deal. 2. Include a (say) 5 year rent agreement in the sale. 3. Totally exclude the stadium.(Either bcos Channers wants to keep it, or the buyer doesn’t want it at the price Channers demands.) If however, we go into administration, as you say, all that can be sold is the club minus the stadium. That then gets very messy indeed. Especially if the administration is mid-season. Administrators usually want a very quick sale to the new buyers. It would possible but difficult for interested buyers to do a quick deal with the administrator for the club, and a quick side deal with, say, Rotherham or Barnsley, to rent their stadium on a week by week basis, until à longer-term rental arrangement or purchase of Hillsborough could be negotiated…or not, so rent elsewhere long-term. Very tough for interested parties to come up with a business-plan for the purchase of à football club from the administrators, without a firm plan of where to play. On the plus side, buying from administrators is usually very cheap, so the risk to the buyer is minimised. Good post and good thread. Let’s hope Captain Chansiri is looking out for icebergs, though I expect not.

Exactly what we need.

A football thread. Top man. I know this sounds barmy after last season, but we need Ugbo in the team. That doesn’t guarantee goals of course, as we saw only too painfully, but I’m 99% certain that with Cads and Lowe up top we’ll fall way short. The Mystery of Jamal Lowe is a puzzle to me. Played 85% of his career wide, yet we play him up front, where bless him, he just isn’t a striker. Like I said, no guarantee at all that unconfident Uggers gets that monkey off his back, but him doing so is our only hope of relatively free-flowing goals.

His agility in getting down so low so quickly was outstanding. Once he got to them, his stretch and his arm-strength were as good as you’ll see.

Making the case. Is Barry Bannan the greatest EFL?

I’ve followed Wednesday since 82. I’ve probably watched and enjoyed better players (though Im not certain, because I’m sure Baz had/has the ability to play in a very good Prem side), but he is far and away my favourite all-time player. I can’t imagine Wednesday without him. -
My fear too. I’m really worried that there is so much smelly stuff gone on since 2015, that he can’t do a clean sale to anyone, whatever the price.
-
You know what, that’s more believable than the rest of the madness going on at Sheffield Wednesday.

Oh my. Deep deep condolences to you and your family.

SWFC vs Stoke City Official Matchday Thread
Holmowl replied to Maddogbob's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Svante impressive and dangerous. Love his effort and the crosses he gets in. Jamal lightweight but Bailey impressively aggressive and willing. Charles oozes class. So comfortable and creative on the ball. Must fill the defenders with confidence. Valery is superb going forward. He sets up so many of our few chances. Can’t help but think our biggest weakness is goal-threat. I think a Lowe & Cads front two looks very unlikely to be enough. I think and hope Henrik is working on Iké’s confidence and will unleash him early in the second half, for Jamal. Competitive, but (surprise surprise) short on quality. -
True, but at 100/1 !
-
Yep. Our first Xl is competitive, but unless we get a decent number of decent players in we are doomed once injuries and suspensions occur.

Kobaki was “interesting” at LB when he came on yesterday. Let’s be generous and say he was a fish out of water.

Charles: 9 Otegbayo: 7 Iorfa: 7 M. Lowe: 7 Valery: 8 Palmer: 7 Chalobah: 8 Ingelsson: 7 Bannan: 7 J. Lowe: 7 Cadamarteri: 8 Fusire: 6 Kobacki: 4 McNeill: Ugbo: Donohue (ref): 5 As you can see, I thought the lads played really well, against a far better team man for man. To play with such heart and such passion given the disgrace of their employer is a credit to them and to Pederson.

Perfection m’Lord. 99% of me is dreading the match. The other 1% will force me to watch in hope and delusion. Welcome back.
