2 great Wednesday teams in my lifetime but because I was just a kid the Catterick team takes the palm ahead of the early 90's brigade. Fantham, Kay & Springett were my favourites but I loved them all. Ron Springett though! Greatest Wednesday keeper of all time? Nobody alive will be able to make a case for Jack Brown so it has t be Ron & we've had some good ones.

The 3 Catterick years were so exciting for a 12 to 15 year old like myself. Although the 1960 Semi Final was my first major disappointment I believed he would taken us on to great things just as he did with Everton, who after a 4-0 Wednesday win at Goodison in Buckingham's first season, became something of a bogey team except in the 1990's. Ironically he had a fatal heart attack in a Cup Tie at Goodison against Ipswich. It should have been us Everton we're playing but Wilkinson was fuming when Ipswich won with a blatant offside goal. So many disappointments in my 70 years of supporting the Owls but Catterick leaving ranks 2nd only to Wilkinson leaving for Leeds.

Such a shame there seems to be no film of the Leeds cup win in January 1969 - it was a real shock at the time & of course everything fell apart very shortly afterwards.

Fascinating & genuine conversation between fans! I'm closing in on 80 years old so obviously Ron Springett, Johnny Fantham & Don Megson(amongst a few select others) were legends back in the day followed by David Hirst, Chris Waddle & Roland thirty years later. Wednesday are a different club in the 21st century & Barry Bannan + Liam Palmer do deserve the accolade of legends. Barry could so easily have left us for a more successful career but he's stuck with us despite everything & lets face it life at Hillsborough has been anything but straightforward in recent times.

Back in the days of my youth with a President named Lord Netherthorpe & Dr. Andrew Stephen a big cheese in the F.A. & no knowledge of the serious disagreements between Harry Catterick & "Mr. Sheffield Wednesday" Eric Taylor, I blithely assumed everything was always going smoothly at S6. When you look at the latest list of home grown players you realise how far we have fallen since then & then we have the good fortune to have 2 decent managers in a row & squander everything. I could weep!!!

He scored a great goal at Reading on the first day of the season. It was about five minutes in & the first time he'd touched the ball, he cut in & scored a cracker. I thought Wow we've got a pacy goal scoring winger & he went steadily downhill from then on.

As an old timer who remembers the Chile 1962 World Cup squad when Wednesday went into that competition with the current England goalkeeper & centre half I can hardly believe what has happened to us with the recent heroics of Darren Moore's team & Danny's miracle season becoming irrelevant. Back in 1962 Liverpool had been outside Division One for eight years & we more than matched Manchester United in those days. 2 famous F.A. Cup wins at Old Trafford spring to mind. However, what hurts me most over the years is the treatment Derek Dooley suffered ending with his statue being paraded outside Bramall Lane & his wife refusing to step inside Hillsborough ever again. It's possible Leeds are will build a statue of Howard Wilkinson outside Elland Road. Heartbreaking! I've never been more depressed about the future if indeed we have one.

One game has been asked for but that's a difficult one. Personally, the 1960 Semi-Final defeat was my first major disappointment although I suspect Wolves would have been too strong for us at Wembley. 3rd in my list would be the Brighton Semi-Final at Highbury. 2nd would be the 1966 Final(how could we play so well & lose?). But along with many others the 1993 Replay takes the biscuit. Still breaks my heart after all these years. As many have said our history would have been very different if Bright hadn't missed that golden chance. One thing that joins those three results together are crucial injuries. Ian Bailey in 1983 - he broke his leg at Bolton the week before & never played a first team again. Mobley in 1966(perhaps Hickton should have been promoted from the reserves & Ellis not picked) + Pearson in 1993 - an injury that severely disrupted us. Ironic that he should break a leg on the night Wednesday had arguably their greatest ever victory in my life time the 4-2 win at Blackburn but that's another argument for us long standing Wednesday fans.

Obviously Colin Dobson was my personal favourite. Alan Finney was pretty good too!

I attended the 3-2 defeat at Highbury the Tuesday before & had an awful feeling Wednesday were in a terrible mess & a downward spiral. It may have been an end of season game with nothing to play for but we looked very poor. Incredible really that within 3 seasons Arsenal would be double winners & we were halfway down the 2nd Division & heading for the beginning of the really desperate days.

What a fabulous day that was! The last time Busby came over the Pennines to watch before he died. I kept the VHS for years afterwards. Jemson's only major contribution. Great kit too!

Not there unfortunately today but on Eastbourne beach in the beautiful sunshine a guy was playing his music - round about 12.40(the time of the first goal!) Hi Ho Silver Lining came up! Thought to myself it's a good omen - would be typical of Wednesday to beat the league leaders & we did!

Can only agree with Ibbo48 - Springett & Fantham - they were my all time favourites! But there are 30 or so others who are not too far behind!
