The schoolboy howler BPF gave Ipswich- my first Wednesday game in 4 years after returning from Calgary

1991 away at West Ham, we won 3-1, two from Hirst and one from Williams. Wednesday absolutely took the Hammers apart with a superb team performance. Also my first ever game at Hillsborough, 1-3 League Cup defeat to Everton- but what an atmosphere!!

Last October, I went to what the locals claim to be El Classico- Calgary Cavalry vs Edmonton in the Canadian Premier League. El Classico it wasn’t having lived in Buenos Aires and watched Boca vs River Plate. I was wearing my blue and white top and got the bus to the game with a Sunderland fan who had come down from Yellowknife but on my out bumped into an Owls fan wearing the black and thin yellow stripes of the Sanderson era

I remember going to the game but don’t recall much other than terrific away end atmosphere and I think twice losing the lead

The Geordies were all chanting Roast Ham- I used to live right by the ground as a student, a dangerous place indeed

The date looks right, i used to live in Consett then so driving down to Ayresome Park was like a home game. I remember going there the year we went up under Big Ron and celebrating a 2-0 win in the Holgate End. Think Hirst and Williams scored

Carlton equalizing against the Boro in either 93 or 94. We’d had somebody sent off, we cleared a Boro corner and Carlton ran the length of the field. When he was knackered, he blasted it from 25 yards and it flew in the top corner

You’re probably right about Mick Lyons but I’d put money on Colin Harvey playing- him of that great midfield with Howard Kendall and Alan Ball

Yep, 3-1 defeat, Kop took off when Tommo equalized in the 1st half. Colin Harvey played for Everton that night

Lucky to get nowt was what I meant

Was a student in Newcastle and saw Wednesday lose 3-0 at Roker Park vs Sunderland. Wednesday were lucky to get most. Two years later started work at Hadfields, first game at Hillsborough vs Everton in the League cup, fantastic atmosphere with 39,000 attendance. I’ve been an Owl ever since, despite the Eustace era- equally desperate

So many disappointments for me against the Toon - used to live by St James Park when I was a student, and loads of mates in the Toon. Always the sweetest win of the season and to do the double, brilliant. Now I want a win over Derby - ex work mate follows them so want one in the eye for him
