  1. It's cause that's a load of rubbish and they know it is always amused me that "working man's club" crap, not even based on anything.
  2. Not really sure they've ever had a reputation as the Millwall of the north, that title surely has always been Leeds if anyone's?
  3. Think that's a load of rubbish to be fair, most of their season ticket holders are actually in South west Sheffield i.e. Ranmoor/Fulwood etc, tbf I never really go round there so couldn't say
  4. There was absolutely no class difference, purely artistic license, there never has been
  5. Tbh, and not to be rude, I don't take much interest in areas outside of Sheffield, if we're talking about Sheffield clubs and Sheffield areas that's all I really know of
  6. Wednesday: Anywhere from (roughly) Shalesmoor roundabout north and west, Upperthorpe, Shirecliffe, Stannington, Cross, Hillsborough, High Green, Chap, Malin Bridge, Ecclesfield, Stocksbridge, Grenoside, etc Pigs: Anywhere from (roughly) Bramall Lane south and east, Highfield, Sharrow, Manor, Arbourthorne, Heeley, Woodseats, Darnall, Handsworth, Woodthorpe, around Crystal Peaks etc That being said, I know Owls from most of those United areas, and there'll be blades in those Wednesday areas. I work at a warehouse in S9 and most the Owls I work with are from Manor/Arbourthorne. Live in S3 Broomhall now myself and live opposite an Owl and a Blade. It's varied all over the city, you'll find more of one type in each area but there's no definitive answer, especially not in terms of social class standings.
  7. No we weren't fat cats, we were formed by self employed steel workers
  8. Exactly, for a club where 90% of the support is from Sheffield I'm surprised the folk don't wanna represent the city
  9. Just a ridiculous comment no matter the date of it, lots of Owls in S2/3/4 that would disagree with your comment. Making it seem like we all live in leafy suburbs but the areas around Hillsborough are some of the most deprived in the city
  10. Clown, loads of Owls in pigs areas
  11. It's ridiculously easy and quick to get to Hillsborough, 10 mins from West Street on the tram. I live near Bramall Lane and always have done (S2 and S11) and there's plenty of Wednesdayites in both. Wednesday and United's identity is very much the same - working class formed in a city of industry, there is no unique identity and if you think there is then you're sorely mistaken. Walk into the steelworks and it'll be Owl working next to a Blade, we live next door to eachother, drink at the same pubs (occasionally), it's not unusual to be an Owl on the Manor or a Pig on Parson Cross. Even tho Wednesday is in a suburb it's never made a difference, the only people who think it does are, believe it or not, Ushited Difference between Millwall and CP is that they're distinctly territorial whereas Wednesday and United have the same sort of fan base given that the supporters are based in all the same areas, different to MFC v CPFC. The history of Wednesday is very partisan, you may find it interesting
  12. Ey, there's plenty of Owls in S2, their only area is Highfield
  13. Seen this, but also pigs used it as a badge in the 60s didn't they. Just wondered why we didn't
  14. I stand corrected. But still. Why did they have the right to use it and we haven't thought of it?
  15. Was looking into old footie crests and I realised that, apart from the FA Cup Finals, we haven't worn the council's coat of arms as a badge whereas the pigs have. Why did they have those rights and we didn't? And Wednesdayites from the time did you feel alienated? Or that they represented Sheffield more?
