  1. Yep when he took over we had a pretty solid defensive/countering set of players . It suited his cautious and defensive instincts and worked well , the players we have now or are coming through a more suited to an attacking more shwashbuckling style of football and i dont think were as solid defensively.
  2. Brendon is in nice safe territory where he can just amble along dominating the Scots prem until he retires from his second stint there. Besides he's Norn Irish not English if that's what were after.
  3. I suppose it depends on where he ends up. Dawson came back a far better keeper than from Exeter than when he left. The sort of loan he should have had instead of being thrown into our first team and the battle going on with manager and Westwood at the time.
  4. It's refreshing to see a manager getting in players to fit in a position instead of having to get the ol' shoe horn out. That said if we're going to be using wingbacks going forwards we needed to get quality in there ,as it's such a demanding position to play.
  5. Wasn't he playing in the Americas version of the Euros?? Maybe he's just got back and ready for next season.
  6. There could be plenty of potential buyers . It depends if they're willing to pay whatever over inflated price DC wants to buy the club.or in some cases wether they are willing to deal with him.
  7. To be honest he's generally seemed lazy or disinterested a lot , most of the time he strolls about and.conserves energy for when he gets the ball, so should be ok with fitness. Just thinking about him coming back makes me think of him as another jay slothroyd.
  8. Didn't we agree some link when DM was here with Man UTD as to letting some promising youngster play for us..? Though I don't remember anything coming of It.
  9. Yep thats my hope a mid 20's striker that can come here and after a couple of weeks training ,be a first team starter. We'll probably have to send fletcher back to balance the books, unless DR can start to get him contributing.
  10. We have Gregory for experience up front ,we don't need another to fill that role. Hopefully Röhl has someone more 24/26 year old to bridge the gap as Smith is about 30 aswell.
  11. Bit like Gregory or Grigg ,the guy seems to have been around for ever.
  12. The Bannan , Byers,Vaulks as a 3 reminds me of Bazza with Hutch & Lee. Byers like Lee gets us ticking good movement, energy and gets box to box. Vaulks when he's on it does that all action aggressive tackles flying in with an added bonus of a pretty good long range shot. Bazza is Bazza still. It looks and feels balanced with a bit of everything.
  13. Sometimes it's easier, we were expected to get beat by a side playing well ,so no pressure just go out and play your game son. Great for him to get a goal and off the mark. The great escape is on ....just keep the band away
  14. I remember playing rugby against Sheffield eagles at the old tin shed owleton stadium.. that's a very long time ago
  15. To be honest as much as I wish he'd sell up and be gone. I don't think it's going to happen unless administrators or the family make him. He's wasted so much money and is in too deep. He's like that desperate gambler still throwing his last few quid in hoping for a jackpot miracle to get him back in front . Hence wanting/expecting moore & Xisco to get top six this season with a bottom 6 budget. No wonder DM jumped ship.
  16. He's either a complete lunatic ,a masochist, is missing a box of very loose screws or just enjoys taking on a almost impossible challenge for taking over this basket case of a club and pretty much doomed set of players. in the end Time will tell and he'll either be getting plaudits, praise and being hailed as a managerial genius, raising both his stock profile immensely or he'll wander away to a new job a few quid in his pocket.with everyone saying well we were doomed already before he took over it's not his fault. Actually he can't really lose
  17. We had massive debt when he took over us , hence playing that card becouse he needed to trim them back and get us as close sustainability as possible. Mandric unlike DC knows how football works ,if everyone thinks you've money to burn they'll hold out for making you pay the maximum amount possible, playing the pauper card will have been a useful tool in his arsenal. There's also the reasoning that he was always looking to sell us on for a profit ,so investing heavily wouldn't be the best buisness sense if he could get us up there
  18. He's like a gambler who's a busted flush.. he's thrown all his money away to a point where he's desperately hoping and praying for that big win (premier league) somehow someday,so he can recoup his losses. That's why he's setting managers unrealistic top six targets on a bottom 3 budget.
  19. A shrewd buisnessman like say Simon Jordan as an example would immediately be trying to maximise outside sponsorship and be seeking tried and tested methods for increasing revenue both on matchday and outside that realm. There's a way to run a club at least sustainably as other teams do, we just need an owner who knows what they're doing.
  20. I'm sure it's what DM wanted to do ,but necessity kept stopping him from doing so hence the players we signed and all the wingers. Its not a hard system ,but for some reason the managers we've had seemed to struggle to implement it. Plenty of teams have had plenty of success playing a front 3,but as said you have to get others in the box and wingers off the touchline.
  21. I'd presume quick through balls down the channels into space with a couple of quick guys on the counter , or as you say maybe pullis ball, hit the big centre forward and try to pick up the second phase balls to turn them around. I suppose we could drop Bazza back in a deeper role to ping it over the top.
  22. I'm presuming someone has pulled him aside and verbally slapped some sense into the tantrum throwing man child . If we get relagated before Christmas . It looks really bad on him and is embarrassing. It will also cost him more money than staying up in the championship. It will also make us look even less attractive if he wants to sell. Also meaning we wouldn't be worth as much asset wise in league 1. He had to act and do the job properly or stand to loose even more money and try to save grace. I mean would you want to be famous for being the man in charge of the worst championship side in the history of football?? Who were relagated without winning a match before January, becouse that's what we looked like under Xisco.
  23. I assume someone with a rational outlook and sound mind (probably his accountant) or maybe a senior family member has told him that getting relagated in highly embarrassing way will not only look bad on him and cost him more money than staying in the championship, but also will scupper any chance of getting a decent price if he sells us.
  24. I'm hoping we get the old style stereotypical German unity , cohesion and organisation from Him. Our defending hasn't been good enough but if he can get us keeping clean sheets we should start picking some points and wins up .
