  1. Ah yeah of course, always forget Antonio started as a loan for some reason
  2. Yeah that's the one. I did the same thing toying between Lopez and Sanchez, and wondering if I was just being a bigot
  3. He's definitely up there. Off the top of my head the only ones who come close are mellor, batth, and pudil. (I can't seem to remember if Ben10 was a season long loan or just half a season or he'd be here) Then a tier below id have venancio and that Spanish midfielder we had in the season we lost to hull in the playoffs ( who made such an impression I can't remember his name, but remember him being a decent player). Shea is probably the best player there, and maybe it's just nostalgia, but mellor is my favourite of the lot.
  4. To add to this, all done without some mega rich billionaire owner pumping money in, (not saying the owners aren't healthy, or even billionaires, but spurs are more or less self sufficient)
  5. Watched a couple of his games in the first team towards the back end of last season, and overall, and I think he'll do ok, even if I've got some reservations about him. Though the reservations are less important in our current situation. He's technically pretty good, seemed to lack a bit of confidence going forward, but then again man utd did in general last season, and he was a teenager playing in front of 70k, but did seem willing to keep getting forward as much as possible. Hopefully he can gain a bit of confidence by playing regularly and we might have a gem for the season. He is a bit lightweight which is again to be expected for his age, and looked a bit suspect defensively. It's a shame ikiekwe was let go, as he probably needs that strong leadership next to him to guide him. Again this is based on maybe three matches I happened to watch a few months ago, but he had enough about him for me to at least take note.
  6. Was thinking the same while I were walking the dog round the park the other day. Even if we didn't know about the safety concerns, the whole outside of the stadium just looks grubby
  7. Got to say, despite only being 16, Grainger looks like a real player. Obviously not expecting to see him much this season, or even next, but this has been a very exciting first look.
  8. I think I've changed my mind on the whole having the empty stand with tunacúnts name on it on show for the TV cameras. At first I didn't want him to get that sort of ego boost, but now I reckon it's showing everyone and their mother who's to blame for the current situation
  9. I thought it were just any potential new owners we shouldn't be doffing our caps at.
  10. I'm out the loop here, is this the disco Dave that did the school discos? Or is it a new nickname for Dave Richards? Or is it both, did Dave Richards used to do the school discos?
  11. This the same Textor that's currently in court due to dodgy financial stuff with his other football clubs? He's the one guy I don't want
  12. Well it definitely smells like afoot
  13. Sure john hills is having a feel there
  14. I remember there was some interview or podcast with Ross Wallace where he took the ******** out of chansiri for coming into the changing room once and crying about his son. Obviously wasn't as bad a time as were in now though
  15. Could they replace the steel trusses though? Dephon playing 4d chess here
  16. fizz it, think I might just stop being so negative, or I'll go mad. Lots of game time for the youngsters, in 2 years time they'll be ready for a push for the premier league.
  17. Yeah this is the major problem with football in this country, outside of the premier league the only way for a club to be sustainable and successful is for a rich guy to consistently pump money into it. If a team at our level we're to actually try to live within their means they couldn't afford anywhere near the quality of team needed.
  18. So there is a difference between fee amortization, which is the how they record the fees for accounting purposes, and paying in installments. Clubs can, and do, agree transfer fees which include installments and/or add ons. This helps if they don't want to pay a big fee up front which is why we still owe money for famewo, not sure if it's just pre-agreed installments or a bonus for something like appearances. This is common. Clubs can choose whether they use that money or not in one go, knowing they have money coming in in the future, but they cannot just magic up money, it has to come from somewhere. Whether that's cash reserves they have saved, or a loan from the bank with the guarantee being those future payments, is a case by case situation. Chansiri will not be doing this. The club has no money right now. Future fees do not help with this. Especially if he's as close to selling as it seems, he will be wanting as much money up front as he can get, which usually means lower overall fees.
  19. Funds will be here, you're just thinking of the vvanky accounting workarounds for PSR. Where the money going out is recorded as spread out over the contract but money in is immediate, it's why there used to be lots of 'swap' deals between Juventus and Barca etc (players like Arthur and pjanic both went for like 60m to the other team, which on 5 year contracts according to the books is 60m received, 12m out for that particular season). In our particular situation, chansiri couldn't care less about PSR, he literally cannot pay the bills. He will be demanding lump sums and the money will be coming in. It will be accounted as above but that's just bookkeeping. The big problem for me is the lack of any future payments for these good young players. City have a history of selling young players very well, and if the reports of there not being a sell-on for cadamarteri are true, we could be missing out on millions down the line.
  20. Sometimes these things take a bit of time, and journos get told slightly in advance. If he only agreed the contract yesterday for instance there would still be the matter of the medical and everything else to do. That said, maybe Danny's had a word
  21. Happy about this all things considered. Think he's still got enough credit in the bank despite what's happened this summer, (and let's be honest if we all thought we'd have to work with chansiri for another year we'd all be doing whatever we could not too as well), and he probably is the best we could possibly have in our situation anyway.
  22. Do we know if Textor would be fronting a consortium? I know he's a billionaire so seems unlikely to me, or maybe I'm just wishing as he's my least preferred of all the names that have been mentioned. What other US consortiums have been hinted at other than Shaw's?
