Staff Join UNITE union.
Bassetts Allsorts replied to adelphi1867's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
It's interesting that this info seems to have come from the Union. My understanding is that some staff don't want to involve the Union in matters just yet. I think for all Chansiri's faults - and not paying them their full wages is obviously the biggest - he's done a lot of good things for the staff team to improve working conditions. People remember this, but the lack of communication and repeat offending is chipping away at his banked respect. -
Worst pre kickoff anthems
Bassetts Allsorts replied to Lombardo's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I don't mind Hi Ho Silver Lining before kick-off, but it's absolutely awful as a chant during the game - the silence after belting out 'HI HO SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY' is deafening. I think if you want something unique, then you'd be relying on the likes of Reverend and the Makers or Arctic Monkeys to come up with something. Basically if one of those can write our own version of "Sunshine on Leith" then we'd be laughing. The Pigs' anthem isn't unique though, it was originally a Rotherham United song (Like a night out in Masborough). I'm surprised the Millers never tried claiming it back but we all know how much they admire each other. -

Trust Call For Full Boycott Against Middlesbrough
Bassetts Allsorts replied to TZOwl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Yeah it's certainly not my idea, it was suggested a few months ago by somebody on here. I don't think you can unless you provide the Trust with your details (name, postcode, ID number) but as you say, there's no way to validate it with the club. -
Trust Call For Full Boycott Against Middlesbrough
Bassetts Allsorts replied to TZOwl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Feels like the protests have shifted up a gear. As always, I'll be fully supporting the Trust's boycott of the Middlesbrough game and will not be renewing early. It would be great if there were a petition that current season ticket holders could sign to demonstrate the potential impact of not renewing our season tickets. -
Met him after we won promotion from League 1 when we beat Wycombe 2-0. In a drunken daze, I somehow found myself in the directors box after the match sharing a red wine with him - I was sat in the North stand to start with! He saw the funny side to it all. I met him again at a sponsors dinner and he remembered me and said “oh it’s you the drunken guy who drank all my wine!”. RIP Milan

Message from Coventry City fans
Bassetts Allsorts replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I’ve always liked Cov, I’ll never forget their tribute for Steven & Shaun. Yet another example of their class today, they encouraged the pitch invaders and clapped along with our protests. I really hope they go up, there’s a lot of similarities between us. -
Pitch Invasion - how many!?
Bassetts Allsorts replied to Kevowls1's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Take my hat off to the 50 or so who went on the pitch today. I couldn’t take part in it (it would be a threat to my job) but it made a point and got a lot of media attention. I hope there’s no repercussions for the majority, if there’s any fines then let’s see a fundraising for them. -
I have a season ticket so still going, but definitly wont be renewing if he's still here by that time. The final straw, as in I vocally called for him to sell the club and leave, was when he sacked Moore and appointed Munoz. I think before this I would just give him the benefit of the doubt that he was an aneccentric owner and it was better the devil you know.

Pitch Invasion - how many!?
Bassetts Allsorts replied to Kevowls1's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I just can't see season ticket holders who are still attending invading the pitch and risking getting a ban from football and a criminal record. I would be risking my job if I did it. As others have pointed out, there are other ways to disrupt a game. If there's a group of vigilantes prepared to stop or postpone this weekend's game, get your heads together and come up with something better than invading the pitch. -
Talksport/The Sun - 15 Point penalty
Bassetts Allsorts replied to The General's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Expected it, but can't argue with it as it's in the rules. DC will soon be directly responsible for two relegations from the Championship. That's his legacy. -
If you are wearing a Trust scarf and buying food and drink from the kiosks then you deserve to be called out. The others can do as they please. I don’t agree with it but if they’ve not got onboard with it now then they never will. But if the group of alcoholic I got to match with can refrain from a few pre-match and HT beers then it should be a piece of cake for everybody else!

Baz interview on Scottish podcast
Bassetts Allsorts replied to keefdave's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
He didn't say anything that's not already been said. However, as it has come from Barry Bannan's mouth, who as club captain has understandably remained neutral in all this, it has more weight. It tells you a lot about what's happening - or what's not happening - behind the scenes. DC won't like it. -
I swear Nixon came on and used a cone to take goalkicks with.

DHGate shirt has arrived
Bassetts Allsorts replied to Dexter Morgan's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
The quality of copies from DHGate has definitely improved recently. I remember only a couple of years ago, they could never get the badge right for us, but it looks spot on now. I'd always recommend going a couple of sizes up from your usual. -
The primary role of a centre back is to tackle, block shots/passes, win headers and keep the ball out of the net. He did that to a level way beyond his years. It was so refreshing to watch. Credit to Henrik for keeping it simple; it really helped having Lowe and Iorfa at his side. If anything good comes out of this mess DC has put us in, it will be that we find a few gems from our own academy because they were given a chance.

Stick to football - Des Walker
Bassetts Allsorts replied to markg's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Just watched this. Disappointed that they didn't even touch on Des' career at Wednesday, especially considering he had 8 seasons with us, of which most of them were in the Premiership in the same era as Carragher, Neville, Keane and Wright. Yet they spent way too long talking about his one season in Italy, and decided to talk about Forest sacking Nuno instead of the pending death of a football club he spent half of his career at. One of my icons growing up. I know he was a proper defender but it's mad to think he scored one professional goal in 20 seasons! You'd have thought he would have channeled his inner Michael Hector and just thought 'f*ck it' and gone upfront for the last 10 minutes in some of the end-of-season dead rubbers. "You'll never beat Des Walker!" -
Beyond a joke this now
Bassetts Allsorts replied to O'Neill Donaldson's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
My dad talks about the 70s and how bad it was watching Wednesday in the old third division, with low crowds and the 'Save Our Owls' campaign. I think this is now the worst period in Sheffield Wednesday's entire history. -

Supporters' Trust - Boycott Stance
Bassetts Allsorts replied to SWFC Trust's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
The boycott of one league fixture is interesting, and something I'd fully support. Would it have a bigger impact if it were a Saturday TV game or a mid-week game (which will be on the red button anyway) when the crowd is usually reduced? Agree about the messaging as well. I'm sure the graphic designer supporting the Trust could help with this by creating some carousel templates if you want to communicate multiple messages in one post, especially as some of this info will be repeated every matchday. The boycott of one league fixture idea probably deserves its own social media post, though. -
Echo what others have said, it would be great if the Trust could collect the data from current season ticket holders who have said they won't be renewing if DC is still here. Imagine it would be pretty straightforward to set up online and collect at home games, not sure how they'd verify the data though. I've had a season ticket for 25 + years, and go to the majority of aways so have a decent TPP amount, but I'd give it all that up if it was the last resort to force him to sell.

Leicester was the first away game so as expected there's a high demand. Wrexham tickets went very quickly, but it was a small allocation and we haven't played them for years. Pompey tickets were still on sale on Saturday, might have sold out now by the looks of it? I imagine the next game to be a free-for-all will probably be Southampton away in November.

A goalkeeper called Stretch is destined to be the best goalkeeper in the world. Get him in the starting lineup! -
Anybody know if the scarves will be sold online soon? https://swfc-trust.teemill.com/ I'm off to Pompey on Saturday so wanted one for then.
