And it would be deserved. But never doubt a virgin IKNer
-
Excuse me! My mate is definitely degenerate but he’s not much of a gambler!
-
WAITKAW But not all of us
-
Stroking myself as I type!
-
Don’t spoil it?! Have you ever been ITK? Lower than you would ever believe mate
-
The mate was garbage as an 18 year old and he’s now nearly 60, so hopefully Lowe. He did say ‘welcome to a proper football club’ which made me smile
-
A mate of mine is currently playing poker with Max Lowe and he is signing for us tomorrow. Not much of an IKN I know but it is the closest to an IKN that I will ever be!! I’m an ITKer, who’d have ever thought it! Well maybe?!

Best pre match atmosphere ever for me. We stayed in Bristol the night before and weren’t exactly up with the larks on the morning of the match. Got on a train and arrived in Cardiff around 11.30, every pub in the city centre was rammed with Wednesdayites, flags up everywhere and non stop singing. It was the same in the streets, just brilliant. The train back to Bristol was good too with all the old songs. Including one of my favourites, Harry Haslam, Alex Sabella wobbly wobbly woo, Stick the boot in what do you get, **it on the end of your shoe. And even one my Grandad taught me, Roll along Sheffield Wednesday roll along, Put the ball in the net where it belongs, when Dooley gets the ball, it is sure to be a goal, Roll along Sheffield Wednesday roll along. A great day out

I have had some contact with Simon, Ian’s other son in recent years on social media. Us teachers stick together. He is a massive Wednesdayite and takes his kids to our games. We missed each other a couple of years ago in the home end at Crewe by a few rows. Spider is a legend. My memories of the BDM as a 14 year old and then Blackburn away later in the same season ( which is not only still my favourite away game ever but also the first time I realised how massive we were ) are right up there in my best ever Wednesday moments. RIP Spider and very best wishes to the whole family

Too old and too far away to care this much?

Ha, watched the first leg of last year’s playoffs in an Irish pub in Dubrovnik, that was more of a ‘FFS Wednesday’ night than a ‘get in’ one! -

Nearly 60. Haven’t lived in Sheffield since I was 18. Watched us on about 85 grounds over the years. Didn't go last week, nearly stopped watching at half time. Couldn’t get today either but was literally jumping around the room when the third went in and didn’t feel safe until the 94th minute. I shouldn’t care this much. I only get to about 6 or 7 games a year. Why does Wednesday do this to us? Wouldn’t swap it for the ****ing world- 23 replies

What a brilliant post. My son, now 23, has never lived in Sheffield but he will be a lifelong Owl and will continue to be a proper Wednesdayite long after I’ve gone. Neither of us could get up from Exeter today, no excuses, but your post has really struck a chord. He has been by my side at places like Gillingham, Fleetwood, Cheltenham and Preston. We have lost at Wembley together and won at Wembley together. We would both have lived to have been there today but your post says everything that needs to be said about Wednesday, family and legacy. I love this club. We love this club and if today brings one more little Wednesdayite into the family then it has been a great day. FFS if ever there was a WAWAW post this is it

Being on the away end at Hillsborough
DevonOwls replied to Bulldog's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
100% record in the West Stand. I was in there for a game on Boxing Day in 1979. Can’t remember much other than it being the best day of my life up to that point. I’m much older and wiser now so it’s probably now only on my top 3! -
This one for me, never seen anything like it as a 14 year old kid. Still my favourite ever away game. Mentions also to the Leicester replays v Arsenal and Man City away when we went up under Wilko. And just remembered a cup replay at Anfield?

I thought today was a free hit to be honest and have no complaints really about the attitude of the players or the way we went about things. A bit surprised at putting Bernard in midfield and at just how attacking our initial line up was but when we saw the team we thought that at least we were trying to be positive. But what I wasn’t prepared for was just how much better than us they were. They literally battered us and were so much better in every way. I understand the parachute payments and the wage bills etc etc but the gap today was huge. Still, as always, a good day out with good people and no regrets.

Southampton v Owls Unofficial MDT
DevonOwls replied to Holmowl's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Three of us on our way from Plymouth and Exeter, a cuddly Ozzie owl in the back of the car to bring us luck. He always travels to away games but has only seen us win twice over the last 5 seasons! But imagine if he hadn’t been there at Fleetwood and Crewe?! -
Last three away games I’ve been to with my son, the ‘friendly young steward’ who we have talked to has just walked us round the pitch into the Wednesday end. At Coventry it was a bit embarrassing as they scored right in front of us,! Gutted not be there tonight but back at work tomorrow so a bit of a cop out from us. Part timers eh?!
-
Easy to say, second leg against Peterborough, but tonight was a very different set of circumstances. I’ll admit that I watched it from the safety of a settee in Exeter tonight but holy fooook, how good were Wednesday today? Pace, power and tactics, I’m struggling to remember a better performance in recent years. I saw the line up and thought wow, at least we’re going for it, I watched it live and thought, wow, we could be the real deal. Just loved that, whatever happens for the rest of the season, let’s just enjoy a Wednesday side setting up and playing this way! WAWAW

The earliest you’ve ever left a game?
DevonOwls replied to g-owls's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Wrexham away, early 80s. We were 4-0 down at half time and if my memory is right most of the away end emptied after 45 minutes. We all just sat on the train ( Inter City Owl days ) for the whole of the second half. Grim days -
There’s a Spoons in Bedworth, hop on the train for a 4 minute journey to the ground

What was your first away match?
DevonOwls replied to Furious George's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
My first was Forest away too, around 1969/70 as a 5 year old. Other early ones of note, Crystal Palace replay at Villa Park, and then the ones I really remember, Chesterfield, Blackburn and Exeter in 1979/89 Boxing Massacre season. Favourite ever? Blackburn as well as wins at Anfield and OT, Coventry and Chelsea in 91 when we won the league cup and Man City and Newcastle during promotion season
