I went last year during the snooker world championship (I live in Devon so don't get to Yorkshire that often) We asked the waiter to ask the chef to cook whatever he wanted for 4 - 4 starters and 4 mains - even if it was off menu It was stunning We also met Steven Hendry and Dennis Taylor. Apparently, accorid to the waiter, during world champs, Hendry is there every night with a different pundit/player. Except Shaun Murphy. Never Shaun Murphy

Exeter fans absolutely love him and would take him in a heartbeat problem is wages. Exeter are a very small club owned by a supporters trust so whilst they do make a fair bit on player sales, they reinvest in facilities and youth rather than spunk on wages that might break the wage structure. Shame really as I think Dawson not only enjoyed his time there but came back a better keeper

Footballers potentially striking
Chris Apolon replied to WimJunk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
Players don't control how much they get paid in so much as there is always going to be a club to pay it. The reason they are discussing going on strike is to do with an ever increasingly workload set out by the governing bodies. More tournaments means more money for clubs and organisers and the hedge funds/owners/states that control them. The players get paid the same but have more hours travelling, training and playing and less hours to recover. We can bemoan all we want how much they get paid, and I for one think it's crazy, but to increase workloads on top of what is a crazy schedule anyway seems to me to be unacceptable and it's right that there's talk of strikes. Well in any other business strikes would be talked about. Alas when it comes to football the reasons for strikes are always boiled down to earnings. -
Sorry if wrong area!! I'm in Sheffield for the snooker and want to watch the match tomorrow. Any good pub suggestions to either watch the match or watch soccer saturday (or similar) where its ok to be a Wednesday fan? I woke up today with a view of bumhole lane from our pad so need some Wednesday tonic!

That women on sky sports
Chris Apolon replied to Derick Mills's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
I've always been fascinated by, read books on and watched documentaries about belief. From religions, to cults to fringe outfits and more. Football is, to some respect, like religion. Objectively speaking, it makes no sense why 10s of thousands turn out to watch 11 people kick a ball about representing an organisation that may have existed 100+ years but is purely a sporting institution (or nowadays a business) To this end, and much like religion, no 1 singular opinion or ideology is RIGHT in much the same way none are WRONG. You can point to all the evidence and facts in the world but, like religion, those who have centred their belief in 1 aspect tend not to be swayed. Pointing to evidence may only serve to embolden their standpoint further. Do I agree with this supporter? No, I don't. But I wholeheartedly support her perspective as that's hers to have. And some of the gutter trash in this thread serve no purpose whatsoever about from to divide "others" from what might be the majority who want DC out -
What does not putting in 'additonal money' mean
Chris Apolon replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
As ever Chansiris "statements" leads to more questions than answers I've been a wednesday fan since the early 90s. This is the worst I've known it. He needs to be shown the dictionary definition of statement -
I've not kept up to date today on any links, could someone summarise (non sarcastically) who we've been linked with and if they've gone anywhere else. I've seen the hendricks link, is that all? FWIW i actually think he'd be a decent signing. I know I'll probably get criticism for that so the owlstalk caveat of its just my opinion applies!!

One thing I've definitely learnt from this thread Sheffield Wednesday fans are really good at maths

I know nothing on this player bar a few google searches but, he was linked with Dortmund (who know a player) and Nice last year and was identified as one of the better prospects in PSGs youth team. He could flop, he could be great and earn us a few. Looking forward to seeing him after more than 1 (or 2...) games and see what he brings

Moore leaves Day after chairman rants at a Q&A he didn't need to attend 1 week later releases a mad statement 1 week later, announcing the new manager, goes on a 15 minute rant about Carlton Palmer The press are reporting what's happened. Yesterday's question was fine. Players are having their two pence worth. It happens. The absolute shambles we find ourselves in is down to 1 individual who keeps it in the press because of his actions. It's like breaking up with a girl because she wanted something better and every week sending her and her friends messages. He needs to let it go and realise not everyone is out to get him, and those that are are inconsequential to him and the running of the club.

Imagine being a fan of that club! Makes us seem entitled

I know nothing about him bar Wikipedia where it looks like he's managed some big clubs, to promotion (some under financial constraints) under some lunatic owners and is a head coach type Interesting to see if it has legs

I've not caught up on all topics, and kept abreast briefly last night Chansiri Partridge has really missed an opportunity to control the narrative here and provide an explanation to the fans. Even if it was reading a pre-written statement and said they'll be no questions regarding it. Instead the fans he proclaims to give back to are left in limbo and their ire is directed at him How did he not see this coming
