I spoke to my old man who said that he was told he left Man City in the summer due to a new man coming in and he didn’t get along with that new head man, so he’s been unemployed for a while and this job came up so he took it to “get back in the game”.
He travels from Manchester daily - which can’t be much fun especially in winter.
Also I’m informed that DC has always been supportive of groundstaff with salaries and machinery etc it seems it’s just hard to find staff in certain industries hence why the club struggle to attract people for grass roles. The previous head man has gone to Sheffield united on a few £k more, but club did offer more money to him however.
This is the 5th head man in 5-6 years, however it seems the previous 3 were already at the club in an assistant position after they replaced the young lad they had from Scunthorpe.
Good luck to the new man and hopefully he has some magic in his shed to get us through the season and beyond.
