  1. I’m baffled - how have we got one across the line, and genuinely, even if he is on paper a good prospect, how will one signing make much difference?
  2. They have had great success, aided by making the correct decisions. people don’t like it, because it’s successful and it’s not the club they support. fair play to them, it’s worked wonders. Championship is another step, but they seem to be gearing up to give it a go.
  3. The starting line up on paper, isn’t genuinely that shabby, we’ve some good players at this level, combined with some youngsters who can do a job. beyond that is the issue, we’ve barely any senior pros so to speak on the bench, we’re relying heavily on young lads, and we really don’t have much scope for actual rotation. as the season goes on, the players get more miles in there legs, there will be suspensions and injuries, and then fixture congestion. it’s going to be a slog. Of which I’ve zero doubt the lads will give it there all, but realistically we are in the championship, deemed one of, if not the hardest division in the world. hopefully we uncover some gems, that can help build a brighter future down the line
  4. In terms of new bodies (if it happens), I see the logic with getting some older heads in. They’ll help navigate what will be a tough ride for the younger lads, and these younger lads who are likely to be around the first team squad, will be able to learn bits from them. that and we have minimal depth too, so a few injury’s / suspensions and we won’t be far off naming our under 21’s, with who knows on the bench. An ideal world would have been taken over early in the summer, stack the squad out with decent free’s and loans, and limit the amount of players we’ve had to let go. Unfortunately we are in anything but an ideal world, so at this stage, a body is a body
  5. Mass protesting of games will be a tricky one, there will be people, genuinely, who don’t see the information. they might dislike everything going on with the ownership, but don’t use forums, watch news channels, read news etc. If it wasn’t for owlstalk, I wouldn’t have a clue about anything happening, or at least very rarely, as I don’t actively use Twitter which seems to be another strong platform for it.
  6. There’s nothing wrong with some of these younger lads getting minutes in the league, if anything I suspect we will need them out there, unless we get bodies in. however, a big difference between bedding them, and just launching them in and expecting it to work. if the answer was using a squad of players of that age, from the academy, then every club would be doing it as first priority, which isn’t the case. yes, we’ve not had a great track record of giving them a chance, which needs to improve, but letting 1 or 2 have a run out, with the senior heads, is different from letting 9-10 have a run out together. there’s signs of good potential there, but let’s be realistic, under normal circumstances, we’d have done transfer business and a lot of these would have gone out on loan, with maybe the odd one making a cameo. it’s a great opportunity for them to make a claim for a spot, and I hope some of them are able to do just that, because it would be a glimmer in an utterly miserable period. No issues with some getting minutes this weekend either, we have a small squad, it’ll happen. there’s nothing wrong with getting a loan in, if it’s done effectively, as you’re normally plugging a gap or getting someone out of the typical price range. Charles last season is a great example. I suspect in hindsight there isn’t going to be many shouting that we shouldn’t have got him, he was outstanding.
  7. I’ve set up a little league in the challenge format of fantasy, if anyone fancies a bit of fun on that for something different, anb7j8 Is code
  8. Fair play to him and others for staying. Gonna be a tough slog, but sounds like the players are committed to giving it a go
  9. Reality is, if he didn’t have a poor injury record, he’d be no where near championship. It was a gamble, but we took it. No excuse to be having a pop tho. Especially when he gave us half a chance yesterday too. another player that’s at least spoken out.
  10. Talksport said they had an understanding that 3 out of the starting 11 today had handed in. they also made a point that you’d never be able to guess who, because all the players put a shift in. Fair play to the lads out there
  11. stick a kit on it, need all the bodies we can get!
  12. Max Lowe with a number too, be a boost if he does stay
  13. What is the vardy rumour? Think I’ve missed it with everything else happening
  14. In terms of signing a contract whilst people aren’t getting paid, wasn’t it reported that whilst he was technically out of contract, he refused to accept his last payments until staff had been paid? He’s clearly aware, and isn’t wanting to put himself first in that respect. We’re going to have to put a team out, if we’re wanting to remain a club, that at least seems to be the case. The EFL won’t allow us not too. If we do get taken over, whether it be via a sale or admin, we still need some form of club at the other side. He obviously doesn’t want to let the team, and fans down, that he’s committed a large chunk of his career too. Captaining this side could be a hideous venture, but he’s obviously not giving up. Reality is, for us to play him, he has to have a contract of some sorts. Otherwise he’d be forced elsewhere. What looks like will be predominately young lads stepping out into a championship season, having someone like this at least alongside them, may keep the confidence and mentality from free falling. For them, I imagine it’ll be a huge boost too.
  15. Personally I wouldn’t want to see another club go bust or run close. I look towards the recent issues at say Morecombe for example, and its poor viewing. granted not a rival, but even rivals generally seem to be the local clubs who friends / family support. Laughing at them getting hammered / relegated is one thing, disappearing completely is another.
