So he's scoring one in 5 and an assist in 10 [roughly]. I'd argue that is nowhere near good enough for a team with top six ambitions. I think we have to let him go. I don't know what we do with players (three new players from jan already injured) but we can't afford big earners who aren't available every week. If we have a few star players on big whack we can't afford decent quality squad players to come in when these stars are unfit.

All very valid points. And i agree with the bottom line which is out left and right back options are major weaknesses that hamper us both in a defensive and attacking sense. However. i don't think we can afford to bring in anybody. Secondly with regard to managers. Names being mentioned are traditional experienced British managers who have done it before etc. I agree I think we need a change but don't we need a manager who can get the best out of this lot given we can't buy anyone? modern footballers need an arm round their shoulder and 'coaching' rather than a rocket. If a big premium club comes sniffing we have to cash in. No player is going to want to play championship football when they could be playing in the premier league. That's just the way it is. If his head is turned we won't be getting the same performance, desire, tenacity or intensity from his game which is so important to us and how well he plays. I'm not saying he doesn't want to play for us at the moment, but his mind has to be100% into playing for us or we'd be better off getting as much as we can for him.

Our lot seem to mess around with it pinging the ball to each other across the width of the pitch with no real obvious aim, whilst the opposition are being coached or doing some meaningful looking drill. I remember Millwall away and pudil was in net throwing himself about as a keeper with one of the outfield players trying to shoot as you might do in the park while Millwall were doing an organised excersize in their half.

This is exactly the point I'm trying to make. I think it is directly comparable. Except we've been signing the wrong sort of player. Ex premier league late 20s early 30s. Large wages. You do need some experience but I think we need more youth, with a point to prove and eyes to catch. I don't follow wolves so not sure who they've signed but by the sounds of it their recruitment this year has worked. It didn't last year. Question for us is did we ask for these players or were they recommended?

It is clearly a model of running a club that allows signings to be made in a boom or bust push for promotion. It has worked for Wolves this year. I think we will go the way of Forest, and Derby and spend a season or two languishing in lower mid table until the books balance and then go again. The sooner the influence of agents and agencies diminishes the better and more sustainable football will become.
