I've been striving for a season of mid table mediocrity in the championship for a while. Beats the drama of constantly fighting in relegation scraps. Anywhere between 8 - 14 and I'm steadily whelmed, anything above that I'm overly whelmed and below that is just a normal season for us at this level.

When we had Westwood in goal and a shot came in I knew he would comfortably save most of the shots he "should" save and when a cross came in I knew he was taking the cross if it was his to take. With Dawson I'm flinching every time a balls whipped into the 6 yard box and he stands on his line letting the defence do his job or conceding when they don't and any shot on target I'm half expecting to go in. I didn't even get angry at the 2nd goal. I just shook my head and acknowledged it's only a week till the transfer window opens and that coaching setup can surely see where our deficiencies lie so I'd imagine it'll be one of the first things to be sorted out. I trust in this set up to make us have a prosperous 2024 so won't cancel Christmas again just yet

I just hope our chairman allows him to do what he needs to do in January and let him do it asap and not wait till the end of the window. That decision will probably dictate how our season ends.

Dawson isn't saving that regardless but I agree his positioning was poor. People saying his view is blocked! Yes because he hasn't took the step to his right to get the view he needs and instead planted his feet when unable to see the ball.

We're going to win a game at some point. A midweek away trip to the far end of the country with a coaching team that's still learning the squad and visa versa seems a perfectly adequate time to do it. 1-2

I'm much more optimistic after today's performance than I have been for the previous 11.
