  1. I heard no boos or negative comments or grumbles. Just complete respect and admiration for those willing to go that step beyond. I think it'll only begin to start a regular invasion, as more fans will feel confident that the chance of punishment is unlikely. I wonder how much it cost the club in financing the extra steward presence today...if nothing else, that's win alone.
  2. I don't think it'll ever happen, and the commitment to try and keep the wheels turning is nothing but commendable by the players and the staff, amidst continual disrespect from the owner. But, I think it's time for the @SWFC Trust to sit down and have a full and frank meeting with Bannan and the players, and ask them to help the cause now. Whether that being strikes, walk-offs, holding banners/wearing shirts pre-game or just coming out and speaking in the media asking for Chansiri to do the right thing. Just something. The players and the staff can't continue to bury their heads in the sand and think "we just need to do our job." There's a near 160 year old institution at stake here. Those solely running about, giving it their all and getting beat, as commendable as it is, isn't doing the situation any favours at present.
  3. Lot to like. Great on the ball, loves to get forward, aggressive defensively. He'll get a couple of red cards, I'm sure...but on the whole, looks a real bright prospect.
  4. If this happens, he tarnishes everything he did here IMO. His reputation, despite the protracted and rather unprofessional ending to his reign here, is maintained amongst the fanbase, given the remarkable job he did here, and his battle with Chansiri ultimately running him dry. But, there's PLENTY of jobs he could get...better and more attractive jobs, than United's at present. In taking the United job, he's showing exactly what he thinks of our club and the fanbase that worshipped him. But, as a ruthless careerist (and that isn't a criticism) I suspect, he'll only view it as his next job, and anything in the past, is irrelevant to him. I sincerely hopes he thinks twice, if the opportunity arises...but given that this news is out, he's probably already given the nod to it, should Selles fail to recover the situation down there.
  5. If the Trust could get loads of black and gold scarfs with "Chansiri Out" or "Enough is Enough" on them made and announce a protest of dispalying them aloft at in the ground, and stand outside the stands with a SumUp machine, they'd make a bloody fortune. Really easy protest, and a money spinner for the trust also.
  6. Nixon's headline this morning: "Blackburn snubbed in shock Cadamarteri move" I'm not paying for the full article, so don't know the specifics of it.
  7. Tbf, the signings of Godfrey and Tanganga are very good, high quality Championship additions. Chong is probably quite an astute signing given the cost, and then fact his energy will suit the way Selles wants to play. Looks like they are going to be bring in a few more and spending a fair bit of dosh along the way. I'd be surprised if they didn't end up competing for the playoffs. Although that'll depend on whether they keep Hamer and Campbell.
  8. Suspect it'll be a club that can pay some very high wages. Allegedly on £70,000/week at Leeds, and if he's willingly agreed a mutual termination, he must've have been offered a very reasonable wages for him to do so. Wrexham or Birmingham maybe? Or a club in the Middle East would be my hunch.
  9. 4-2-3-1 Horvath Valery Iorfa Lowe Palmer Bannan Ingelsson Kobacki McNeill Ugbo Cadamarteri
  10. Won't happen. As a fanbase, generally, we are so judgmental and impatient when it comes to youngsters. And yet, we complain about how poor our record with youth is. Take Fusire for example. Came in for the Stoke game, and within 10 minutes, a not insignificant number of fans, have already wrote him off as "never will be good enough" "lightweight" "not ready". Same will happen with any others...but the one positive from this situation, is that we may be forced into playing these youngsters, and therefore they are actually allowed to grow. Same happened with the keeper on Saturday...not a youngster obviously, but the fact he's only been at the club 24 hours, hasn't played for yonks...just isn't contemplated...he's crap, and thats that.
  11. Plenty of other ways to entertain clients that don't involve funding a dangerous narcissist
  12. In fact, isn't this a load of waffle? Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney pledged profits from their 2024/25 third kit to the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust. Sales of 1,500 shirts at £25 each raised a total of £37,500. The donation follows an initial dispute over Wednesday’s protest banner, later resolved after Wrexham supporters stepped in. Both sets of fans showed solidarity throughout the match, with mutual respect shown inside and outside the stadium. The gesture has drawn significant media coverage and reignited wider discussions about Sheffield Wednesday’s ownership situation. I thought the gesture was, all profits were to be donated to the Trust...not all sale proceeds? At the bottom of the article "his article reflects our opinion based on publicly available reporting, commentary, and developments at the time of writing. Key insights have been drawn from coverage by outlets such as The Wrexham Insider and The Athletic."
  13. Absolutely incredible gesture. It's a PR masterstroke from Wrexham. But hopefully it'll allow the Trust to seriously up the ante, when it comes to protesting now.
  14. Perhaps thats why we should be worried...he's not known for his business acumen.
  15. Horvath - 5 - Having seen the comments at the time of the game about his performance, I assumed he'd had a absolute horror show. Have to say, apart from the 2nd goal, which he obviously should've done better with, I thought he was steady enough. In reality, he had very little to do, but, I'm sure he'll do a decent enough job for us until (if) Charles returns. Palmer - 7 - Mr. Reliable. Play him in any position, and he does a job. Valery - 7 - Probably our most under-appreciated player...intelligent, versatile, and competent in a number of positions. Iorfa - 7 - I'd have liked to see him deal with the cross better in the lead-up to the 1st goal...but in reality, he did enough to stop the first action, and Moore reacted quickly and well to divert the deflection goalwards. After that though, I thought he was very, very good. In particular in the 2nd half, his marshalling of Moore completely killed any Wrexham threat, and allowed us to pen them deep into their own half. M. Lowe - 7 - Like Palmer...he's so reliable. Rarely stands out, but always puts a 7/10 performance. I'd have liked him to perhaps back Kobacki up a little more in the 1st half when it was clear he was struggling, but it's not always as easy as that. Kobacki - 6 - Struggled greatly in the 1st half, Longman had him on toast. But, you have to give him some leeway...he's not a left wing-back, and defending clearly isn't something he's naturally adept at...but needs must; so I'm loathed to criticise him for doing a job that the coach has asked of him. That said, when moved further forward in the 2nd half, started to show some signs of what he's capable of. I'm by no means convinced he's got what it takes to succeed at this level, but he's going to get the opportunities, he just needs to grasp it. Bannan - 8 - There's nothing more to say about the man. Rolls Royce. Stands up when the chips are down and drags everybody up with him. People still criticise his perceived leadership style, but nobody leads with example like he does. At 35 years old, to still dictate a game of football like he does (on a regular basis) is ridiculous. Ingelsson - 8 - Man of the Match - Thought he was our best player in the 1st half, and put in just as talismanic display as his captain in the 2nd half. His endless energy is something else...but he's so effective with it. Carries the ball, makes things happen, gets himself to bylines and in dangerous positions...but then also wins tackles, breaks up play and defends diligently. A complete player. McNeill - 8 - We didn't see anything of note from his last season (Hull in the cup aside)...but so far this season, he just looks like he's ready to step up and take his chance. Quiet 1st half, but when moved into the inside forward role in the 2nd half, he became a very dangerous player. Has a lot of confidence, and a bit of arrogance about him, which I love. Windass-esque. Run Wrexham's left side ragged. Such a shame he didn't convert the exceptional counter attack at the death. Ugbo - 6 - 1st half, he looked sharp and was part of a lot of good build play. Got himself into a couple of good goal-scoring opportunities, where you can see he's still lacking a bit of confidence. But, as was the case throughout last season, no surprise, that when he plays, we play better as a side. He's a good player, with valuable attributes...and he's not far off finding that confidence that was drained from him last season. Cadamarteri - 7 - Love him. Convinced he's going to get goals this season...works tirelessly, proper centre forward. Took his goal brilliantly...no fuss, great movement, pure goalscoring instinct. J. Lowe - 7 - Excellent 15 minutes. Came in, attracted a lot of the ball, crucial components in both the equaliser and the counter attack at the death. Overall... So, I didn't see the game live yesterday (a day at Gulliver's beckoned ), and having seen some of the comments at the time, I assumed we'd signed Stevie Wonder to play in goal and we were utterly abject until the 2nd half. Disagree with both. See my comments about Horvath...for a keeper who only joined 24 hours previous, and hasn't played for a long time, I thought he was alright. Up until the last 10 minutes of the first half, there's no doubt we were the superior side. We worked the ball well, worked harder and seemed to be better than Wrexham in all departments. We didn't get our final ball/action right on occasions, but there was a lot of decent stuff in that first half. Yeah, we can bemoan our inability to defend set pieces...but, it's a rather fortunate goal on Wrexham's behalf (aswell as good reactions from Moore)...and the 2nd goal was poor, no doubt about it, but both goals came totally against the run of play. The worrying aspect was our deflation as a team once we went 2-0 down before the break. Between 35-45, we retreated, stop doing what we were doing well, and Wrexham had the opportunity to kill the game off. 2nd half, the formation change certainly helped, and the screening in front of Moore ensured we stopped Wrexham building any sort of momentum. Putting Kobacki & McNeill in more natural postions certainly helped, but I don't think it was a night and day difference between the two halves. We just tweaked the right margins, and completely dominated as a result. Desperately need this to spark some belief into the squad... Special mention to the supporters again yesterday...immense. Another club that has shown respect to our situation above and beyond than what's expected...I suspect, the longer this sorry saga goes on, the more respect our fantastic travelling fanbase with get.
  16. I do agree with much of that. I've said for a few weeks now, I'd be prioritising our young players over players who aren't going to be here next season. If Fusire, Otegbayo, Kobacki, Cadamarteri, Shipston etc. can all get 30-40 Championship games under their belt, there's a good chance, a couple of them will become valuable assets for us. But, on the flip side, being on the losing side every week and struggling to compete, isn't going to bring the best out of anybody's potential, never mind those players severely lacking any first team experience. I think a couple of additions that will come in and be dressing room leaders could be crucial to ensure these young players have a chance of becoming a success. Cooper would be ideal, probably a 32 year old winger, less so (although, we're in desperate need for bodies, so as a squad member could be a decent option).
  17. The fact he's not playing in a blue and white shirt this season, and playing in League Two is ridiculous. But that's what happens when you have a narcissistic cretin running the club. Was a brilliant servant for us, and never let us down in a multitude of positions despite having his obvious limitations. No surprise he's been a bit of a cult hero at every club he's been at. And my God, do we miss that more than ever at the moment. He'd be ideal for the situation we find ourselves in.
  18. I think the fans group are very much aligned, and have been fairly consistent in their communications. Unfortunately, it’s a symptom of today’s society, that there’ll always be those that won’t be told what to do. That’s fine, it’s their opinion and they’re entitled to it, and no matter how much anybody attempts to explain the damage they’re potentially doing for the long term future of the club, it’ll just push them further to solidify their own narrative. Thats the world of today…whether it be UK politics, the gender debate, the war in Gaza…we’re forced into having an opinion, and not deviating from it. It’s sad…but the fact is, every pound that is spent that’s goes into the club, is funding Chansiri and will only prolong his tenure. He wants to stay and see it through…there’s only us that can make that scenario impossible to achieve.
  19. I bought my ST last January, when we had an outside chance of sneaking into the playoffs. He's had my money (and clearly spent it). I don't see any point, unless there's an organised protest where a boycott is required, in not going to the game and supporting the players. But, I'll be joining every protest asked of the Supporters Trust whilst in the stadium. That includes the whistles (not officially the Trust's protest) tomorrow, and a sustained, and stubborn stance that'll he get no more of my hard-earned cash either through merchandise or food and drink within the stadium.
  20. Amazingly we seem to have enough of our own fans refusing to boycott the game...I can't see too many Leeds fan agreeing to!
  21. Looks like they've done away with the Under 5 category that used to be £5? We really are invested in the future of the football club aren't we...
  22. Charles - 7 - Conceded three, no fault for any of them really. Two great penalty saves. But, he continues to amaze me with his passing ability. He was threading passing like prime Iniesta. He's going to the very, very top. Siquiera - 7 - Thunderbolt. You don't save those! Emery - 8 - So composed and calm in possession and when defending. Ridiculous given his age and inexperience. Weaver - 7 - Bit more of an "old-fashioned" centre half look about him, but there's nothing wrong with that. Physically looks ahead of many of the others. Solid debut. Johnson - 8 - Incredible tank. Covered a lot of ground, pressed high and was aggressively with it. Brilliant composure for the 3rd goal also. Thornton - 8 - Man of the Match - Another performance far beyond his years. He and Shipston sat in the pivot brilliantly, and Thorton's passing range was sensational. I'm not getting carried away here...the standard and consistency of long range passes were as good as Bannan's. Tired late on, but superb debut. Shipston - 8 - Looked probably the most "ready" out of the young lads. The loan away seems to have done him a world of good. Was very comfortable dropping in between the lines and picking the ball up on the half turn. Fernandes - 6 - Bright start, looked up for it, competing well early on. On the end of a shocker, which probably wouldn't been a red card, had they not already been given one earlier. Kobacki - 6 - Thought he was very poor in the 1st half. At fault for the 1st goal, and just looked lost at times. 2nd half, he was much brighter, and could've easily got himself on the score sheet. McNeill - 6 - One of the quieter performances on the night, but nonetheless should enough glimpses of quality. Great run and movement to get in front of the CH for the dismissal. Ice cool penalty also...he's got some confidence. Ugbo - 7 - Grew into the game. Early on, looked a little hesitant similar to last season. But, you could see the confidence returning, particularly after the brilliant turn, run and ball into McNeill for the sending off incidence. Took his goal very smartly also. Fusire - 7 - Another one, who physically looks ready, and has benefitted from a loan spell. Full of strength and energy and covered a lot of ground in the hybrid central midfielder/winger role. Palmer - 7 - Came in and was the ultimate professional. Keeping the ball, offering an option down the right flank. Overall... Probably one of the most enjoyable Wednesday performances for a long time. It was refreshing to see young lads playing with confidence, freedom and a touch of arrogance at times. I felt they probably lulled themselves into a position of too much comfort in the 2nd half, where they kept the ball well, but took the foot off the pedal a touch. As a result, we didn't put the game out of doubt, and Bolton's changes gave them a boost late on. Great character shown though to come back on three occasions...not easy, given the sheer amount of debutants and inexperience in the squad. I'd hope a few of them are afforded a few more chances as the season goes on.
  23. I cannot believe some of the responses here. This absolutely should be a full boycott. It's an ideal opportunity to show Chansiri exactly what we think. It's a game that means absolutely nothing in the bigger picture (THE BIGGER PICTURE = THE FUTURE OF THE CLUB). It'll more than likely be on Sky...what better way to send a message than a barren Hillsborough. Any excuses about "supporting the lads" is completely missing the point... Of course, everybody is entitled to their opinion, but if you cannot boycott this game, then you can have little complaints if Chansiri continues to run the club on a shoestring and into the ground.
  24. Hull after Toby Collyer from Man U. We can cross him off the list then...
