One thing I should have added to my earlier post is that whatever his personal motives, Milan left the club in a far better state than he found it. Something that will never, ever be said of our current owner.

This. Given his controversial reputation, my relief that he rescued us from extinction was tempered with extreme apprehension as to his intentions and methods. I needn't have worried. OK, he didn't exactly splash the cash while he was the owner, but what he did spend was spent sensibly. Bills, wages and HMRC obligations were paid on time. He turned us round, and while we may not have been pulling up any trees in the league, we were more than competitive. The club was professionally run, and while it was never going to be a rich mans hobby he was always open and honest about it being an investment. What we wouldn't give for that sort of stability right now. If he was still around I'd have him back in a heartbeat. RIP Milan Mandaric.

At the end of the day, whatever their current difficulties, the Blunts owners are paying the wages and have sanctioned tens of millions of pounds of transfer fees. You suspect that their problems are short term and fixable. Our owner has failed to pay wages on time for something like 4 out of the last 5 months, and it's probably a question of when rather than if it happens again. We barely have enough senior players to field a matchday team. We're under an embargo and the EFL don't even trust him to cover the cost of loan players. He p*ssed off our highly rated young manager so badly that he felt he had no option but to leave, despite the huge affection and regard in which our fans held him. Our ground is crumbling, and given that our owner sold it and we don't own it anymore it's no longer certain if we have a secure home at Hillsborough. So I really can't see how things can be any worse under a new owner.

Well, they could make Chancer Deputy PM and then demand his resignation 10 minutes later on the grounds of 43 breaches of the Ministerial Code. And then sit and scratch their heads and wonder how to get rid of him when he refuses to go.

Well, putting aside the miracle of Hillsborough.... Newcastle in the FA cup a few years ago I would say trumped Leeds. We were League 1, they were upper end Premier League competing for European football and with some serious talent in the team. And we actually did the job in normal time.

And that worries me. I'd like to see an owner who comes in with a clear philosophy and plan, and who then puts in good people both on and off the field and leaves them to get on with the job. I know we need Chansiri gone, but I don't want to see one clueless control freak replaced by another. As for Pederson, it's early days but he's doing OK considering the circumstances. More importantly he wants to be here, he seems to be a thoroughly good bloke, and he's up for the challenge. Right now those qualities are worth their weight in gold. But if we do get a new owner I really hope they give him a chance to show what he's capable of in better circumstances.
