Our players under contract for next season

That’s Rochdale who have been relegated to L2 -
Cheltenham, Cambridge Utd

So whose looking forward to watching us play some of these footballing behemoths? Pretty sure we’ve never met Fleetwood in the league and certainly not Accrington in recent history. I’d be happy to get Sunderland out of the division via the playoffs. Leaves a few more fallen bigger clubs but no outstanding sides if we can retain a few of our better players and recruit well. AFC Wimbledon Accrington Stanley Bolton Wanderers Burton Albion Cambridge United Charlton Athletic Cheltenham Town Crewe Alexandra Doncaster Rovers Fleetwood Town Gillingham Ipswich Town MK Dons Plymouth Argyle Portsmouth Rotherham United Sheffield Wednesday Shrewsbury Town Wigan Athletic Wycombe Wanderers PLUS THREE FROM: (one will go up) Oxford United Sunderland Lincoln City Blackpool -
I like many I’d guess don’t believe we have a hope of survival but consider this. Rotherham still patchy, Derby been on an awful run. Wednesday need from the next four games to win two more than Derby. We could win two and they win zero then go to the final game at Derby God knows what Rotherham will do but no shots on target tonight, they could collapse. on the other hand we could be down after the next two weeks. What do I know

BREAKING - Darren Moore gets Pneumonia and is OUT again
BigOwl replied to @owlstalk's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
If it’s any help you’re many many times more likely to get a blood clot from catching the virus than from any of the vaccines. 1 in 20 people hospitalised with covid develop blood clots. 1 in 100 people diagnosed with covid develop a blood clot. Compare the 1 in 20 figure above with 1 in around a million people develop a blood clot after taking first dose of certain vaccines. So far every one who has developed a clot after taking AstraZeneca or In the states Johnson and Johnson has been female, under 49 and each one was after first dose suggesting rare allergies. This does not follow for people with clots after covid. Clots can be life threatening however small ones can go away on their own. As a health professional my choice was vaccination whose risk bears no relation with that if covid infection (regarding clots). All the best for a speedy recovery Darren.- 167 replies

Luton 3 - 2 SWFC - POST MATCH REACTION THREAD
BigOwl replied to ANDY's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
After Birmingham show some balls and come from behind to win today with two late goals we find ourselves six points adrift of safety with a worse goal difference. Yes we have a game in hand but seeing as that’s Swansea and they’re on a losing streak you can guarantee it’s a banker to lose. -
Except the pass to Harris who crossed for the winning goal. Enough of a contribution I’d say

Not a manager I’d want if we were in the Premiership (not gonna happen so not an issue). POSITIVES His teams are not boring to watch. He likes to recruit pacy young attacking players. Hes got a good pedigree in picking up talent from lower divisions. He’s never had a decent budget so has an eye for bargains. He didn’t take Wigan down. They’d have finished mid table without the deduction. Hes a northerner NEGATIVES Hes a scouser He doesn’t get on with Windass Hes probably too gobby for DC Any meeting with Chansiri will need two interpreters.

Lees needs to be loved. If the manager doesn’t like him (eg Monk) his standard drops.

Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread 2020-2021

Not played a game in virtually a year. Gonna take a lot of fitness training -
Absolutely. I really don’t know why there was such an underwhelming feeling on this forum about signing him permanently. He’s a different type of player to anything we have and he’s very capable of playing the number 10 position. His movement off the ball is really clever and he’s excellent on the ball. Methinks he’s a confidence player who just needs to feel wanted to thrive. Paul Cook clearly didn’t want him at Wigan but that’s just our gain. Right age, right attitude just need the right partner. BTW I was also happy with the Kachunga signing. Lost his way at Hudds but so did Bannan at Palace. Sometimes you just need a new club and a different challenge. Optimistic.

Not unexpected that playing without strikers constituted zero goals. Reach is not a striking option under any circumstances but he needs to get his mojo back somehow. Looked completely different side with Brown supporting a front two. Windass looks a shoe in for number 10 / support striker role with excellent movement. Just need a number nine now. Rhodes did nothing after coming on and I fear another season if high wages for no goals from him. Positives for me were Penney (albeit vs L2 opposition). His forward play has always been a positive but a better side will test his defensive capabilities more. Brown looks a find but must be played in that advanced midfield role with Bannan sitting behind and Luongo as defensive mid unless we sign someone else for that role. Iorfa looked comfortable and Harris would have hd at least one assist had there been. Striker on the pitch when he put that lovely cross straight cross the box. little more to say on the others. Not massively challenged and all working without striking options until closing stages

How can anyone get a full pre season in with 16 days to go to the start of the new season -
The Owls have made towering central defender Chey Dunkley their second signing of the summer. The 28-year-old switches to Hillsborough ahead of the Owls' return for pre-season later this week. Dunkley is a vastly experienced operator at the heart of the rearguard, with a total of 366 senior appearances to his name. After kicking off his career with Crewe Alexandra, he represented Hednesford Town, Kidderminster Harriers, Oxford United before joining the Latics in 2017. Dunkley flourished at the DW Stadium, swiftly becoming a crowd favourite courtesy of trademark powerful performances at the back, whilst making a significant contribution at the other end of the pitch. The Wolverhampton product netted 13 goals for Wigan, specialising in particular from posing a real threat at set pieces. His maiden season, during which Dunkley was a virtual ever present, ended with Wigan shattering the club’s defensive records. The centre half follows Fisayo Dele-Bashiru into S6 with the Manchester City starlet having moved across the Pennines in late July. Barnsley had our pants down. I was going to say he made me look like a defender (which if you saw me play is a stretch) however he did something half the squad have failed to do this season and scored for Wednesday so it’s not all bad

Pretty sure Penney is out of contract so may not return

I really like Fletch. He has heart and raises the entire teams confidence. I thought their big striker who hit the bar had a similar air about him. Obviously I’m preaching to the converted but I just galls me him many years we have known how much better Wednesday play with a top striker on board. We spend so much time trying to sort the rest of the team but you see the difference when someone like Fletch steps on the pitch. Without him we’re a different team.

Man of the match - Reading (H)
BigOwl replied to Lord Snooty's topic in Sheffield Wednesday Matchday
just to say I predicted 0-3 after hearing the team selection. I’m really annoyed I didn’t put a tenner on it. Dawson - 6. Actually had little to do. Made one superb save. Not at fault for any of the goals despite comments in this thread. Beaten by a superb move and strike for the first, the second he must have seen very late and got a defective touch from puscas and the third was a dubious pen. Urrhoghide - 4. Was sadly out of his depth. The first booking for grabbing his players ankle was schoolboy, the second was always coming as he constantly dived in. Might be a player in there but not for a situation like this. Iorfa - 6. Saved a certain goal just after 1-0 when he sprinted back the length of the pitch to make a goal saving tackle. Inconsistent but not as bad as other comments suggest. Börner - 5. The German looks half a yard slower since the turn of the year. Palmer - 6. Decent going forward but nearly gave a goal away with a shocking pass across his own box. Da Cruz - 4. Made one significant run at the start of the second half where he beat three players. For most of the game looked like he had an inability to control or keep the ball. Pelupessy - 4. No worse than most of them. Boo boys favourite but like Lees absent at times although made the occasional tackle. Lee - 4. Not the Kieran Lee of old. Looked lost Harris - 6. Best chance of forward motion came through him. Nowhere near his best but better than the average today. Nuhiu - 3. The big lad did his best ambling carthorse impression today. Offered zero up front FF - 6.5. Hit the side netting with his best chance but at least worked for the shirt today. subs: Bannan - 4. No major improvement in his performance from last/midweek. What is going on in his head. Murphy - 6.5. Positive impact after coming on. Couldn’t make up for his teammates though. Wickham - 3.5. Outscoring Nuhiu by half a point because he ambled faster. No sign yet of the player he used to be. Monk - 2. WTF was that team selection about. If he can’t make up with or select the likes of Hutch, Reach, Westwood, for the teams benefit he needs to go. -
Chansiri comes up with the goods

We won’t have that issue at the seasons end with the amount of out of contract players. Problem might be getting enough new ones in -

How is the young lad doing?not heard him mentioned -
Except that (as reported elsewhere) the lad is big mates with Casey Palmer already on loan at Brizzle and who has allegedly been given the cold shoulder by Lee Johnson. Negative expiences by one loanee often put others off
